House Show Results
Portland Maine, October 1st
By Phil S., rajah.com reader
Just came back from the Raw brand house show in Portland, and did not disappoint. Although we did not see Flair, HBK, or Kane, all the other big names were there. The crowd was pretty into it; I got a laugh out of my section when I screamed "You're a man!" at Molly Holly.
Match Results:
Gene Snitsky vs. Stevie Richards:
Snitsky cut the same promo he did on Raw, to the chants of "baby killer" before the match. Stevie pretty much got the beat down the whole match, with Snitsky winning via the pump handle slam. Snitsky gave him another slam after the bell.
Simon Dean vs. Shelton Benjamin
Simon came out and told us that Portland should be called Portly, because we are all fat; he asked someone to come to the ring and admit they needed Simon's help. Benjamin came out and proceeded to beat on Dean, eventually picking up the nod after his turnbuckle splash.
Mohammed Hassan vs. Maven
Hussan and his manager come out to USA chants. They try to pray to Allah but are inturrupted by Maven, who takes the rug and wipes his rear with it. Finish comes with Maven winning after some high dropkicks and some othere move which I cant remember.
The Fink then introduces us to The Coach, who rips on Portland and taks about being in with new Raw diva Christy, which brings out Molly Holly, who says that what she did to Christy is nothing compared to what she will do Victoria tonight, which leads to...
Molly Holly vs. Victoria
Lots of back and forth action in this one, mostly punches and elbows. Molly wins via a rollup with a handful of tights.
Tag Team Championship Elimination Match-
La Resistance vs. Hurricane/Rosey vs. William Regal/Eugene:
Everyone thought that Rhyno and Tajiri would be the last team, so when Eugene's music palyed, he got an enormous pop. Before the match, Eugene took one of La Resistance's flags and ran around with it and rode it like a horse, much to the delight of the fans. Rosey got some pretty big heat for beating on Eugene. At one point Eugene and Rosey were running the ropes when Eugene slid out, jumped over the guardrail, and sat in the front row. The first fall came when Eugene pinned Rosey after a stunner. Eugene got Regal to give the people's elbow to Conway, to a good pop. Second fall came when Conway hit Regal with the flag.
The break was next, with Fink hyping Taboo Tuesday and shooting Benoit shirts into the crowd.
Rhyno/Tajiri vs. Val Venis/Chuck Palumbo
Pretty short match with nothing exciting besides Rhyno's gore on Palumbo for the win
Intercontinental Tilte Match-
Chris Jericho vs. Christian
Very good match with Tomko being thrown out early. Jericho got a CLB chant going at the beginning of the match, and came out on top aftre Christian tapped out to the Walls of Jericho.
Main Event-
Chris Benoit/Randy Orton vs. Evolution(HHH/Batista)
This was a pretty long match, with HHH trying his best to avoid facing Orton. Most of the match was Batista(who is huge in person) beating on Orton and Benoit. Finish came with Orton hitting the RKO on Batista. After the match, Benoit got a small kid from the front row and brought him into the ring to celebrate with himself and Orton. The Fink then thanked us for coming.
All in all I thought the show was great, as I got to see most of the Raw superstars in some decent matches.
Biggest Pops:
1.Randy Orton
2.Eugene
3.Chris Jericho
4.HHH
Biggest Heat:
1.HHH(after taunting a kid in the front row)
2.Christian
3.Gene Snisky
4.The Coach
