ECW Extreme Heat Report-12th June 2005

Welcome aboard once again one and all. I'm here with a quick recap of what went down on Extreme Heat last night which to be quite honest wasn't that much (no matches sorry). It was a bit of a letdown at the time but One Night Stand totally blew me away and more than made up for things. Portrayed in true ECW fashion it was the best PPV I've seen in a long long time with very few negatives (the JBL stiff on Blue Meanie at the end, the shortness of some matches and the non ECW guys on camera too often come to mind). Apart from that it was a spectacular event and with no limits, and no storylines necessary, I was glued to the screen marking out not knowing what or who was coming next. I forgot all about no Raven, and actually digged Foley on commentary too. Best match was Awesome vs Tanaka which did surprise me and worst was Mysterio vs Psicosis. The shoots by Heyman and RVD were ballsy but very true and the main event was a truly fitting end to a great night. Good to see the Impact players again and the original FBI. I'm all for brand ECW to come back, but back to Heat and it consisted of recapping what brought us to One Night Stand with highlights from when McMahon, Bischoff and Heyman all stood in the same ring at once on Raw to this past week when ECW invaded Raw. Clips of ECW's history, legacy and tradition aired which was lifted from the Rise and Fall of ECW DVD along with comments from WWE based ECW alumni. Short ECW promos of The Sandman, Rob Van Dam, Sabu and Tommy Dreamer aired and The Dudley Boyz profess at One Night Stand there's only one way out of New York City. Through a table. Bubba sets it on fire as D'Von testifies. In the WWE portion of the show there's hype for what's on Raw tonight and a recap of the Hell in a Cell contract signing from Raw thankfully the only Triple H sighting/reference of the entire night. Once isn't that bad though as just think when will the next time be when Triple H won't be seen nor heard of on a WWE produced PPV? Exactly. Cole and Coach quickly hype and shill for the continuing draft lottery and again remind us of what's coming up on Raw this week. (John Cena & Chris Jericho vs Christian & Tyson Tomko and Stone Cold Court with Muhammad Hassan & Daivari). Back to ECW and we see Tazz punk out a young Kurt Angle in ECW from October 26, 1996. Back then Kurt was a great amateur and Tazz was a great professional. Angle then walks off holding a dorky smile. After that Angle is shown attacking Tazz on SmackDown! this past week. Heat is brought to you by 'Lynx new longer lasting Axe effect, Castrol GTX high mileage and Advent Rising play and win on XBox Live'. ECW invades SmackDown! and lays it on the WWE before standing tall in the ring and finally a quick ECW clip with the theme 'Bodies' by Drowning Pool playing in the background airs to close out Heat. End of show.

I'll be back next Sunday with Velocity and Heat so until then take care and have a good week. Later Shaun.
