Smackdown Brand House Show
Knoxville Civic Coliseum
Knoxville, TN
8/6/05
Reported by: Chris Nelson, rajah.com reader

I was sitting 3 rows from the ring. It was awesome. I’d say the Civic Coliseum was about 2/3 full.

To start the show off, Howard Finkel came out to many cheers. He then introduced the Smackdown General Manager, Theodore Long. Long said that every champion would be defending their belt. He also said that Eddie Guerrero broke the rules of his match at the Great American Bash. The stipulation was that if Eddie lost the match, he could not tell Rey’s secret but did anyway. Theodore Long said that since Eddie broke the rules, he would face the Undertaker as punishment. Long then gave the mic back to the Fink and exited the ring. Long came over to side I was sitting on. He took a picture with a little kid sitting in front of me. Then, low and behold, I held out my hand and Theodore Long shook my hand. It was awesome.

Match 1
MNM w/ Melina & Jillian Hall vs. Psychosis & Super Crazy
The crowd was against MNM from the beginning. There was not much luchadore action to begin with. MNM was mainly working the crowd. Once the action started it was basically mat action with MNM in control for the most part. Toward the end, the Mexicools gained momentum. Melina grabbed Super Crazy’s foot and Crazy turned around, grabbed her, and pulled her up on the apron. Mercury charged toward Crazy but he moved and Mercury hit Melina instead. That was the end for MNM. Psychosis did a high-flying move and got the pin.
Winners: Psychosis & Super Crazy

Match 2
Simon Dean vs. Hardcore Holly
Dean came out and started his usual “fat people are disgusting” rant. He was making fun of the crowd then Hardcore’s music hit. Hardcore got on the mic and volunteered to “kick his ass.” He then proceeded to give Simon Dean a seemingly stiff punch to the jaw. Hardcore had the upperhand for most of the match. The crowd was solidly behind Holly. Hardcore Holly connected with the Alabama Slam for the win.
Winner: Hardcore Holly

Match 3
Big Stevie Cool vs. Juventud
There were several “ECW” chants throughout the match. The match was fast-paced to start with but quickly died. At one point a fan called Big Stevie “Daisy Duke Steve” due to the shorts he had on. The action picked up a bit toward the end of the match. Juvi won with a cross-body from the top rope. The match was terrible.
Winner: Juventud

Match 4
Heidenreich vs. Sylvan Grenier
Heidenreich came out managed by a local contest winner. He read a poem to the crowd as usual. Grenier then came out. Heidenreich was attacked from behind while he was on the top turnbuckle facing the crowd. However, he quickly regained control from Grenier. There was a lot of mat action. Grenier gained the upper hand again but Heidenreich began “Hulking up” and soon connected with a slam for the 3 count. It’s too bad Animal wasn’t there.
Winner: Heidenreich

Match 5
William Regal & Paul somebody vs. Scotty 2 Hotty & Funaki
The match was more comedy than anything. Scotty flipped off Regal. Regal was tossed by Scotty then began shaking and trembling (it was funny). Regal then ran to his partner and hugged him around the waist. “You are gay” chants started aimed at Regal. Scotty does the Macarena with some sexual innuendo making fun of Regal and his partner (it was hilarious). Regal and his partner went the outside and later hugged. While hugging, Regal grabbed Paul’s butt. While Funaki was in the ring, Scotty was bouncing on the ropes and fell off. Business finally picked up. Funaki was isolated for a while but Scotty was eventually tagged in and cleaned house. Scotty did the Worm to Regal but Regal’s partner kept him from getting pinned. Regal then rolled up Scotty and held his tights for the win.
Winners: William Regal & Paul somebody

Match 6 – No Disqualification
Eddie Guerrero vs. Undertaker
Eddie starts talking crap. After a few minutes, the lights suddenly goes out and the gong sounds. A purple light and smoke fill the entrance way. Taker makes his way out and slowly gets to the ring. His entrance is awesome, even at a house show. Once Taker is in the ring, Eddie tries leaving but is stopped by Theodore Long. Eddie starts arguing with Long and Taker comes up from behind and just stands there. Eddie backs into him, turns around, and is met with a punch. Once in the ring, Eddie tries going on the offensive but nothing affects Taker. Eddie gets a chair and takes Taker down with shots to the knee. Taker eventually blocks a chair shot with his boot and the chair smashes into Eddie’s face. The match then spills to the outside where Taker smashes Eddie’s face into the ring steps. Eddie starts bleeding. Taker gives Eddie another boot to the face then does the old school leg drop across the apron. Once back in the ring, Taker goes for the chokeslam but Eddie low-blows him. Eddie then proceeds to choke Taker with a shirt. Ref lifts Taker’s arm 3 times to see if he is out. On the 3rd lift, Taker grabs the ref. Taker now has the upperhand again. He takes Eddie to the corner then walks the rope. Taker tries for a Tombstone but Eddie escapes with a DDT. Eddie gets the chair and attempts to hit Taker in the head but Taker stops the chair with one hand. Eddie got Taker on the mat and then tried going for the Frog Splash but missed. Taker then connects with the Chokeslam and Tombstone for the win.
Winner: Undertaker

After the match, the lights go out, the purple spotlight is in the ring, and Taker kneels on one knee as always. This match was by far, in my opinion, the best match of the night simply because it involved Undertaker.

Match 7 – Cruiserweight Championship
Paul London vs. Nunzio (Champion) w/ Vito
It was a fast-paced match. It was the basic cruiserweight match-up. At one point, Vito distracted London but it didn’t help Nunzio any. London attempted a suplex while near the ropes but Vito grabbed his legs and he fell down. Nunzio landed on top of London. Vito held London’s leg so he couldn’t kick out.
Winner: Nunzio w/ Vito

After the match, London got on the mic complaining about how he was cheated out of the championship. He then runs to the back.

Match 8 – U.S. Championship
Christian vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Orlando Jordan (Champion)
“Buckwheat” chants were heard all throughout the match. Rey had a shirt with him he showed to crowd. On the shirt was none other than Buckwheat from the Little Rascals. Jordan got on the mic to whine. The crowd kept chanting “Buckwheat.” Jordan then grabbed the shirt from Rey and started stomping it then kicked it out of the ring. Rey began another “Buckwheat” chant. Jordan took the refs hands to cover his ears. When the match finally started, Jordan and Christian teamed up against Rey. Rey held his own to begin with but then lost his grip. There was some high-flying action. Rey eventually regained the upperhand. Jordan was knocked out of the ring and stayed there for a while. It was just Christian and Rey in the ring. Rey is ready to superplex Christian from the top turnbuckle when Jordan comes in and gets under Rey. Jordan powerbombs Rey while Rey superplexes Christian. It was an awesome spot. Rey positions Jordan and Christian for a double 619 but they both move. Jordan goes to the outside and Rey eventually gets the 619 on Christian. Jordan comes in and throws Rey out. He then covers Christian for the win.
Winner: Orlando Jordan

After the match, Rey plays to the fans and throws some masks into the audience.

Match 8 – World Heavyweight Championship
JBL vs. Batista (Champion)
JBL came out and ranted about the Knoxville crowd. He said that he was the one we paid to see because he is the main eventer and above all else, a wrestling god. I would love for someone to permanently shut him up. He went on to talk about how the Lady Vols basketball team is comprised of only lesbians. I think JBL has a lesbian fixation because he always brings up something about the Lady Vols being lesbians every time he is in Knoxville. Batista’s music hits and out he comes. The match was mainly a power match. JBL had the upperhand for a while. The action spilled to the outside. JBL then proceeded to mock Batista. He then threw the champ into the ring steps. At this point in the match, I turn my head and what do I see: THE FINK IS ASLEEP IN HIS CHAIR AT RINGSIDE!!!! Very very funny! Batista finally got the upperhand with some powerful clotheslines followed by a sidewalk slam. JBL got up and tried to do the Clothesline from Hell. Batista moved and JBL hit the ref. Batista then caught JBL and did the spinebuster. JBL low-blowed Batista. Orlando Jordan came out with another ref who counted for JBL. Batista kicked out after a 2 count. Jordan grabbed Batista and held for JBL, who tried using the championship belt. Batista moved and JBL hit Jordan with the belt. JBL turned around then nailed Batista with it. JBL pinned Batista but the ref was still out from the earlier clothesline. JBL took the ref’s arm and started the 3 count. Batista kicked out after 2. Batista then took the offensive and hit the Batista Bomb on JBL for the win.
Winner: Batista

After the match, Batista went outside and walked around the ring tagging the fans hands. He ended up tagging my hand. I COULDN’T BELIEVE IT!!! THE CHAMP TAGGED MY HAND!!! Some of his sweat also got on my shirt, which happened to be a Batista shirt. That shirt is now in a frame hanging on my bedroom wall.

1. Undertaker

My Name; Wesley McKinney, rajah.com reader

I can't quite remember the exact order of the first few matches, I'm pretty
sure I've gotten them all down though.

Mexicools defeat MNM w/Jilian: Mexicools were working as a face team, and
seemed to be pretty over with the crowd. A lot of people in my section were
goin crazy when Melina got in the ring. I can't quite remember the ending,
but I remember MNM were slow to leave after the match for some reason.

Hardcore Holly defeat Simon Diamond: Diamond came out and did his usual diss
to the crowd and Holly came out and said he volunteers to kick Diamond's
ass, and then preceded to do so. He had some pretty nasty chops on Diamond.
There was Russel Simmons chant in my section, we actually got a glance from
Diamond during the match which made it even better. Holly hit the alabama
slam to pick up the win.

Juventud defeat Stevie Richards: An interesting match, Juventud was laughing
at Stevie's wardrobe before the match, and it seemed Juventud was acting a
face like his 2 teammates earlier in the night. Richards got some ECW chants
when he came out to the ring, i wonder why Juvi didn't?

Heidenreich defeat Sylvan Grenier: Fans were excited when LOD's music hit,
but then no Animal, which kinda killed me since I was pumped up to see him,
but disapointment arose when Heidenreich came out alone. It was an ok match,
I didn't really care for it.

William Regal and his partner(....I think his name was Frank something,
couldn't remember) defeat Scotty 2 Hotty and Funaki: Not much remembered
from this match other than Regal's patner getting "You Are Dead" chants and
Scotty 2 Hotty falling off the apron when bouncing up and down on the ropes.
I about cried laughing when that happened.

Undertaker defeat Eddie Guerrero: Solid match between the two. I've never
seen these two square off so I was really into it. Plenty of "Eddie Sucks"
chants during the match. it was a no dq match, and they both used the chair.
It looked like Eddie had a legit cut on his forehead, i was 5th row from the
ring and it seemed real. Eddie got out of the chokeslam twice with
low-blows, but 'Taker eventually got him and hit the tombstone for the win.

Nunzio w/ Vito defeat Paul London: This match was the first one back from
intermission, so the crowd was missing quite a few people, which I think
hurt the match a lot because it was a great match. Did anyone know Nunzio
was the Cruiserweight Champ coming into the night? I Sure didn't. Nunzio won
with Vito holding down London's legs.

Orlando Jordan defeat Christian, Rey Mysterio: Fans were loving Christian
and Mysterio. Mysterio had a shirt before the match with a picture of
Buckweed and was pointing to Orlando Jordan. The arena then began chanting
buckweed which was pretty entertaining. I think Christian will definitely be
a big time face in the future. This was a pretty solid match, but my
favorite part was when Christian grabbed Rey and yelled "KICK HIS ***,
BUCKWEED!".

Batista defeat JBL: Crowd went unbelievably insane when batista showed up.
It was deafening. I thought it was loud for Rey Mysterio and Undertaker, but
Batista blew them out of the water. Surprisingly a little better than decent
match. I heard about their GAB match, so I was kinda shocked they put on a
decent performance for a house show.

Overall it was the best event i've ever been to. I guess being 5th row from
the ring makes it 10x better than any seats behind that.

Biggest Pops:
1. Batista
2. Undertaker
3. Rey Mysterio

Biggest Heat:
1. JBL
2. Eddie Guerrero
3. Either Simon Dean or MNM

*Mexicools defeated MNM w/Jillian: the Mexicools got the win by melina trying to interfere,
but was hit by mercery, and turned around into a move byPsycosis off the tope rope. there
was a loud pop, when Melina did her split to enter the ring.
*Hardcore Holly defeated Simon Dean: Dean came out first talkin smack about all of the over
weight, hillbilly Tennessians in the crowd, but when he asked for a voulnteer from the
voulnteer state, he got an alabam slam from Hardcore Holly instead for the win.
*Juventud defeated Stevie Richards: There was a few ECW chants, not a very interesting
match, but Juvi got the win.
* Heidenriech w/ Special guest manager Steven Croft defeated Slyvian Greiner: I won a
contest form WIVK to be a manger for a nihgt. i didnt know who i would be managing but righ
before i saw the towing statue that is Heidenreich up ahead as i was walkin backstage. He
didnt say much, but he was gettin pumped for his match, and he did shake my hand! He then
wemt ot talk with Greiner about thery're match. His music hit and off we went. Howard
Finkel then annouced my name with his, and when my name was annouced he moved to the side
and pointed to me, as i held my arms in the air. He then commande me to MARCH! so we
marched to the ring, and i go the crownd pumped for him, Greiner then came out and i had to
go back to my seat. I didnt get to see much of this match, but Heidenreich did read a poem
befoer his matcha amd did get the win.

*William Regal and Paul Bradshaw defeated Scotty 2 Hotty and Funaki: Pretty interesting
match. Regal and Bradshaw kept Funaki in the ring for a long time, preventing a tag to
Scotty. Scotty at one point was bouching on the ropes and fell off. I laughed so hard!
Scotty finally got in and did the worm, but Bradshaw pulled Scotty off Regal, when Regal
got up, he pinned Scotty by holding the tights.
*Undertaker defeated Eddie Guerrero NO DQ!: Lots of Eddie sucks chants going on, while he
entered. He was on the mic talking some smacka nd all of a sudden we heard the death toll
gong. and the lights went out, you could feel the goosebumps on your skin as theat eeirie
music played in the purple and blue lights, and as that tall, dark figure known as the
undertaker appeared. he made a slow entrance, but u could really feel it though. It was a
pretty good match. The steal chair was used, but nontheless, undertaker connected with a
chokeslam and a tombstone after eddie missed the frog splash.

*Nunzio w/ Vito defeated Paul London: This match was the first one back from
intermission. Nunzio was the cruserweight champ, and PaulLondon looked hungrey. Vito
interferred in the match for Nuunzio to get the win.
*Orlando Jordan defeated Christian, Rey Mysterio: Rey got a huge pop. He gave a kid in the
front row his shirt. Rey pulled off some high flying moves on the two double teaming him,
what time the crowd wasnt chanting buckwheat or CLB. rey deleivered the 619 then orlando
jordan threw him out of the ring and pinned christian for the win.

*Batista defeated JBL: The crowd went crazy for Batista! JBL came out in his pattened white
limo, and talked trash about Knoxville and the ladie Vols. Batista came out after JBl
proclaimed himself a wrestling god. BAtista was in control most of the match. and got the
win with the batista bomb.
It was the best WWE event i had been to, seeing as i got to walk out with Heidenreich and
go backstage and meet everyone!!!
