Readers sent word that the essay has been circulating college guides since 2000, so the evidence does indeed point to the fact that Puder did not write the essay himself.

Puder, however, will not likely be sued for lifting the essay. Due to the very unique writing style, the writing has become very popular across the Internet and has been featured as a 'running gag' in various personal ads and on personal websites. Thus, it is possible Puder was cashing in on such a joke for his autobiography. Nonetheless, the website is still misleading in claiming it was "in his own words."
