WWE.com has removed John Cena’s name as the WWE Heavyweight Champion and now list the title holder as Rob Van Dam.

Many backstage sources are saying that the plan last night was for Rob Van Dam to come out of tonight’s edition of RAW as the champion. This would setup a rematch between RVD and John Cena tomorrow night at the series debut edition of ECW on Sci Fi. The internal feeling within WWE is that by putting Cena on ECW TV they will get a crossover of WWE fans, helping the ECW brand get off to a strong start.

However, this was the plan last night, and anything is subject to change.
