WWE Raw Report (02/13/12) - San Diego, California

WWE Raw 02/13
We are live in: San Diego, California
Commentators: Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler
_______________________________________________

Raw starts off with a recap of the last moment of last week when Kane towered over Eve backstage and proclaimed that if John Cena doesn't embrace the hate soon, he's afraid for anyone who gets in his path. And for the first time in his life, he's afraid of himself.

The camera cuts to a close up of Kane staring at the camera. Kane says there is nothing he won't do, no line he won't cross, and no atrocity that he will not commit to finally get John Cena to embrace the hate. Tonight, two things will happen: John Cena will embrace the hate, and someone will take a ride in...

The camera pans out and we see that Kane is standing next to an ambulance. Kane opens the back doors of the ambulance and the camera momentarily looks inside before focusing back on Kane, an evil glare on his face.

Cut to the Raw theme song followed by a shot of the arena.

Tonight, John Laurinaitis is back as interim Raw General Manager, and Shawn Michaels returns tonight as his guest.

We cut back to the ring. Jerry Lawler is introduced in the ring. Surrounding him at the six Elimination Chamber participants: CM Punk, R-Truth, Dolph Ziggler (with Vickie Guerrero), The Miz, Chris Jericho, and Kofi Kingston. All six are in backstage attire and are standing behind separate podium.

Lawler welcomes the fans to the first ever WWE Elimination Chamber match debate. He introduces the participants one by one. He's going to ask each participant a question, and they will each have forty five seconds to respond. He'll start with Punk. He says that the odds of the champ winning are definitely against him. What makes him think he can walk out of the chamber match still WWE Champion.

Before he can respond, John Laurinaitis comes out alongside David Otunga.

Laurinaitis tells them to hold on a second. Before Punk answers that question, he just wants to say how happy he is to be here tonight. He's happy that he has the support of the Board of Directors, and he'd like to thank them for allowing him to be the Executive Vice President of Talent Relations and the Interim General Manager of Monday Night Raw.

Laurinaitis and Otunga leaves. Lawler focuses the audience back on Punk's answer to the question.

Punk says he'd like to say three things. First, to the WWE Universe, he promises that the debate will not end in violence. He's trying to have a classy debate here. The second thing is to old "Snicklefritz" John Laurinaitis aka Clown Shoes. He gives him his sincerest congratulations on somehow convincing the Board of Directors to allow him to remain in his position of power. A lot of folks watching are home are going to assume that Laurinaitis has something over the heads of the Board of Directors. Something like naked pictures of bestiality perhaps. But he knows for a fact that just by looking at John and the worn out knees in his slacks, he was doing a lot of begging. Congrats, Johnny! The third and final thing pertains to the actual question. Why does he think he's going to win? It's very simple: he is the best wrestler in the world.

Dolph Ziggler is given a rebuttal, but Vickie Guerrero interrupts.

She says that before Ziggler can give his rebuttal, she thinks there should be no booing allowed.

The fans continue to boo.

Ziggler takes over, and he says that everyone knows he's a better wrestler than Punk. He's better than everyone in the ring at everything, including the audience. That's kinda his deal except he backs it up every single night. And then there's people like R-Truth who don't even know what state they're in right now.

Truth asks if that's right. Well if he's elected, the first thing he's going to do is trade Vickie Guerrero and Dolph Ziggler to Smackdown for Hornswoggle and a box of spiders.

Ziggler says we're not running for office and calls him an idiot. How does he work here?

Jerry allows Truth to continue.

Truth thanks him. As he was saying, if he's elected, he will also make it legally required to shout "What!" in every line of the pledge of allegiance.

The fans shout "What!"

He says don't what him.

The fans shout "What!" again.

He say okay, what him. Now to the issue at hand: the box of spiders. He would take that box of spiders and stomp on them. He would then put them in a blender and make his grand mama’s famous spider stew which is high on protein and low on carbs. Little Jimmy, his running mate, will watch him gulp down the spider stew, and that's what will give him the energy he'll need to outlast everyone in the Elimination Chamber and become the WWE Champion. God bless Little Jimmy, and God bless United States of America!

Jerry now goes to The Miz. He says that Miz was in the main event of last year's WrestleMania-

Miz interrupts and says he wasn't in the main event of last year's WrestleMania. He WAS the main event of last year's WrestleMania. He made history when he retained his title not once, but twice. That's why WrestleMania 27 was such an astronomical success. He wants to talk about the Elimination Chamber? Let's talk about the superstars in the chamber. Kingston is an afterthought. R-Truth is insane and should be replaced by Little Jimmy. CM Punk is 0-2 in Chamber matches, and is going to crumble faster than the cookie cream of his ice cream bars. For Ziggler, this is his first elimination chamber, and for the only time he's ever scored for the first time is with an old woman. And then there's Chris Jericho.

The buzzer goes off, but Miz keeps talking.

How is he an imitation of him? He thinks he's the only one who wears a suit?

The buzzer continues to go off.

And the only reason he talks so slowly is so these idiots will understand him. Read his lips: he's The Miz, and he is-

Kofi tells him to shut up. An afterthought? Calling him an afterthought, he's sure most agree because he's been overlooked for far too long. That's alright though because that's the beautiful thing about the Elimination Chamber. In the course of one night, everything can change. He might walk in there as an afterthought, but he might just walk out as the next WWE Champion.

Jerry says that brings us to Jericho.

Jericho says it's obvious that he's surrounded by neophytes in the ring, and by neophytes around the entire arena. But all of them need to quiet down because the true best in the world at everything he does is about to annunciate. They want facts, here's a fact. There is no other human being on the planet that has had more Elimination Chamber matches than him. There isn't a human being that has eliminated more stars in the chamber than him. The last time he was in a chamber match, he walked out the World Heavyweight Champion. Let's be honest, his list of accomplishments in his career outweighs the list of accomplishments of the other five wannabes. He's up high while the other five are on a lower level. That brings him to Punk. He tells Punk to look at him when he's talking to him.

Punk turns away from Jericho and seems distracted with something.

Jericho says he might as well hand him the Title right now because his master has come to reclaim what is he. Does he understand what he's saying to him right now?

Punk turns back to the others and looks confused.

He says he's sorry, but was he talking to him? He's sorry, he wasn't listening to a word he was saying. He was remembering when Jericho left and finished seventh on Dancing with the Stars. What was he saying?

Dolph says the entire debate is a joke, the audience is a joke, none of them deserve to be up here talking. He needs to have fifteen minutes of his life that he can't get back.

Truth interrupts him by calling out his name.

Dolph? Dolph? He will not be talked down to by a man named after Flipper.

Truth makes dolphin noises while Ziggler looks stupefied.

Lawler says as they all know, they're competing in individual matches tonight, so they might as well start with the first match here tonight: Kofi Kingston vs. Chris Jericho.

Jericho pushes his podium down, shoves Kofi out of the way and walks over to Punk. He takes off his jacket and shoves his podium aside, egging him on for a fight. Punk simply raises his championship over his head. Jericho shoves another podium down and turns around only to be hit with Trouble in Paradise by Kingston. Kingston taunts Jericho while the others exit the ring.

Tonight, CM Punk takes on The Miz, R-Truth takes on Dolph Ziggler, and up next Kofi Kingston takes on Chris Jericho.

Jericho goes over to Kingston and Kofi hits him with another Trouble in Paradise. Kingston slowly makes his way over to Jericho, rolls him over, and goes for the pin. Kofi brings Chris to his feet, but the referee is distracted by Kofi long enough for Jericho to get a thumb to the eye and connect with the Codebreaker. Jericho makes the cover and gets the three count.

[Winner via Pinfall: Chris Jericho]

We cut backstage and Shawn Michaels has arrived. He walks down the hallway and is greeted by Triple H. The two hug each other and have small talk.

Coming up next, Randy Orton takes on Big Show.

-Commercial Break-

We come back to a recap of two weeks ago at the Royal Rumble when Kane attacked Ryder and delivered a tombstone to him during his match with Cena.

Cut to a backstage locker room. John Cena is talking to somebody off camera. He says it's good to see him, but he asks why he's here and how he's feeling.

The camera pulls back and it's Zack Ryder still in his wheelchair and neckbrace. He has a dozen roses and a heart shaped box of chocolates on his lap.

Ryder says he's more beat up than he's ever been, but he can't stay away from her.

Cena asks who.

Ryder asks him if he's serious and says Eve, the love of his life. He's gotta tell her how he feels tonight. He's gotta say it to her face. Tomorrow is Valentine's Day.

Cena says he gets that, but every time Ryder shows up Kane has vowed to make Ryder pay and deliver pain to him to try to get to Cena. This has happened every time he shows up. He gets that emotions are running wild though. If Ryder stays in his locker room, he'll bring Eve to him. He'll leave them alone and let them have their quiet time to do what they gotta do. He'll make sure nobody gets in here. Kane's on the loose, don't leave the locker room. He's got his back.

Ryder and Cena fist pump.

We now cut to Laurinaitis in his office with David Otunga. Laurinaitis says it's good to be back. He knows a lot of people are happy for him.

Otunga says he doesn't mean to burst his bubble, but he needs to look at this in a different way. Now the good news is that the kept him as General Manager of Raw, but the bad news is that they never said he was the permanent General Manager of Raw.

Laurinaitis says he never thought of it that way.

Otunga says he has an idea where not only would he be the permanent General Manager of Raw, but he would be the permanent General Manager of Smackdown as well.

Laurinaitis is left in thought.

Cut back to Cole and Lawler. Cole shows off his new action figure.

We get a recap of last Friday on Smackdown when, during Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton, Big Show lost his cool and got Bryan disqualified causing he and Orton to fight outside the ring.

Back to ringside, and World Champion Daniel Bryan comes out. He's going to sit and watch this match.

-Commercial Break-

Back from break, and Bryan has his own seat next to the commentary table.

Big Show comes out first and heads down to the ring.

Randy Orton comes out and heads to the ring as his opponent.

Match #2

[Randy Orton vs. Big Show]
[Singles Match]

The bell sounds. Randy gets on the offensive, but Show shoves him off. Orton tries again, and Show shoves him once more. Show tosses Randy into a turnbuckle and goes for a clothesline, but Orton ducks it and clotheslines Show against the corner instead. Orton with a European uppercut followed by a kick to the knee. Show fights back with a chop to the chest. Orton exits the ring. Show grabs him by the head to elevate him on the apron, but Orton drops his arm against the ropes. Orton slides back in the ring and goes after him, but Show catches and drops Orton with a sidewalk slam for a two count. Show goes for the knockout punch, but Orton slides out of the ring to avoid it.

-Commercial Break-

Back live, and Orton has a sleeper hold submission on Show. Show drives Orton against the turnbuckle, but Orton holds on. Show falls to one knee. Show snapmares Orton off of him and knocks him down with two clotheslines. He whips Orton into the turnbuckle and splashes him. He runs the ropes and Orton with a dropkick that knocks Show down. Orton rolls him over and covers for a two count. Show powers out of Orton who falls out of the ring. Show exits the ring and kicks Orton. He grabs him by the head and slams him against the table. Show slides Orton back in the ring and turns to Bryan. Bryan points him over to Orton. Show turns back and gets on the apron where Orton is able to hit a dropkick that stuns him. Orton kicks Show in the head. He then grabs Show by the head and drops him with a DDT off the top rope. Orton signals for the RKO. Show gets to his feet. He turns and Orton goes for the RKO, but it gets botched by Big Show.

(Note: It looked like he was supposed to push Orton away, but Show sold the move instead.)

Orton helps Show up. Show shoves him into the ropes and grabs him by the neck for a chokeslam, but Orton shoves his arm away and hits the RKO properly. Before he can make the pin Bryan slides into the ring and smacks Orton from behind with the belt. He waits for Show to get to his knees and smacks him in the face with the belt as well. Bryan holds the title over his head.

[Winner: No official winner is given, but my guess would be Randy Orton Via Disqualification]

Coming up next, Shawn Michaels makes his return.

-Commercial Break-

Back from break, and Shawn Michaels is introduced. Shawn comes out and heads to the ring.

He says that he doesn't mind telling them that if you haven't done this for awhile, you get nervous, and he doesn't mind saying that he's nervous. Earlier today he's on his Twitter, and this guys asks him why he always comes around this time of year. It's WrestleMania! You can't have WrestleMania season without Mr. WrestleMania. No matter where he's at, he's always the headliner, the show stopper, the main e-

Well granted, he may not be the main event anymore, but that's why he's added Mr. Hall of Fame. Now, having said that, much like all of them, he was sitting home last week riveting to his television set despite that he lives in the middle of nowhere. He, like all of them, was waiting for his best friend Triple H to accept Undertaker's challenge. But like many of them, he was shocked when he didn't give it. That's when he called Laurinaitis and said he had to come down and talk to Triple H. Then it dawned on him: he got him. He got all over us. He's "the game", and he's just playing with The Undertaker. He's baiting him. So he wants Triple H to come down and tell each and every one of them that he's going to end Undertaker's undefeated streak at WrestleMania.

Triple H comes out. He heads down to the ring and hugs Shawn. The two give the DX symbol before Triple H speaks.

He says he thinks he speaks for the world, and they made it pretty clear, that it's great to see him. And while he gets that it's hard to tear him away from hunting "wabbits" with Elmer Fudd in Texas or whatever it is he does to come down here, it would be nice if they saw him more than once a year at WrestleMania time.

Shawn says he'll work on that. Last week he wanted to be here live with everyone else to hear the awesome news about him facing Undertaker, so let's hear it.

Triple H says as much as he likes seeing Shawn, he wishes he would've called him first so he wouldn't have had to make the trip if that was his only reason for being here. He's not going to be facing Undertaker at WrestleMania this year. He thought he made it clear last week.

Shawn says he understands. He gets that he has to do the thing with the suit, and that's cool, but let's forget the suit.

Triple H says it's not the suit, it's him talking. He saw what he did to Undertaker at last year's WrestleMania. He left the ring for the first time not under his own power. Undertaker won the battle, but he won the war. If they were to face again, he wouldn't have to beat him, he would have to end him. He's not willing to do that. He's not that guy anymore.

Shawn says he's not that guy? Of course he's that guy. That's what he does. He finishes people. He's a closure. He ends careers and steps on throats. He has no compassion, that's what makes him The Game. What does he mean that's not who he is anymore. Is the suit all he is now? He's stood by him through everything. When things "changed" in his life, people said a lot of stuff, but he stuck by. But is he saying that now that he married that chick (Stephanie), he's become one of them? Is that what he is now? A sellout? A corporate sellout, but a sellout nonetheless.

Triple H says it's not being a sellout. It's investing in a future for all of them. He's not going to have this argument out here. He can't understand it, and he gets that. He's not in his shoes.

Shawn says it's true, he's a simple guy. It's very tough for him to understand his deep philosophical business life, but he does know that when a man challenges you, and you back down, that makes you a coward. So what he's asking is-

Triple H leaves, but Shawn pulls him back.

He's not finished! He doesn't care how nice he dresses it up, or how much money he wraps around it. At the end of the day, a coward is still a coward.

Triple H stares at Shawn for a moment before trying to leave again.

Shawn says walking away is what a coward does.

Triple H says he doesn't understand. He can't! He sits on his ranch with his wife and kids, but he's got responsibilities. Real life responsibilities. Like it or not, and he doesn't care if they do or not, but all of this is going to be his. And it's his responsibility, and it weighs him like a ton on his shoulders. Shawn sees Undertaker as an opponent, and he once looked at it that way too, as just someone to go through. But he doesn't see it that way anymore. He can't. Because of that responsibility, he sees Undertaker as a brand that's good for business. He can't let that brand end because it's bad for business. Shawn, himself, and Undertaker are the end of an era. The end of an era of a different breed, a smash mouth style that doesn't exist. They all paid the ultimate sacrifice if they had to. He is not going to be the one to end that era. Shawn's retired, he has other things to do, and Undertaker's all that left. He's not going to end it because they want him to, or he wants him to. He's not going to do it to feed his ego, or Shawn's ego so he can live vicariously through him so he can get done the things he couldn't get done.

Triple H tries to leave, but Shawn pulls him back in.

He says that's an awesome speech, and he's sure that works on a lot of people. He likes the always consistent little jab at him. But here's the thing. He's at peace with his life. But he has no peace. So he's gonna cut to the chase. He wants him to look him in the eye and tell him he doesn't want to end the streak. Look him in the eye and tell him he doesn't need it. Look him in the eye and tell him no.

Triple H looks at him. He looks away momentarily.

Shawn yells at him to look him in the eye.

Triple H takes off his jacket. He stares into Shawn's eyes and after a long pause says no.

Shawn, taken aback, brushes past Triple H and exits the ring. He heads to the back leaving Triple H in the ring.

GONG!

The lights go out.

The TitanTron plays a video highlighting last year's WrestleMania. We see Undertaker sitting at his throne still watching the clips on a projector. Triple H's words from weeks past echo around him. Taker gets up and walks over to a wall that holds articles and photos of the match. Taker takes off his hat, grabs a razor off a table, and starts cutting pieces of his hair off. During this, Taker is telling Triple H that it's not over, and to give him what is his. The video ends, and Triple H is left pulling his tie off in frustration.

-Commercial Break-

Back from break, and Troy Polamalu of the Pittsburgh Steelers is in attendance.

Still to come, CM Punk takes on The Miz. Also later tonight Kane calls out Cena.

We cut to the ring, and Dolph Ziggler is already in the ring with Vickie.

R-Truth comes out and heads down to the ring as Dolph's opponent.

Match #3

[R-Truth vs. Dolph Ziggler]
[Singles Match]

The bell sounds. Dolph kicks Truth and drops him with a fireman's carry for a one count. He whips Truth into the turnbuckle, but Truth leaps over him and back flips. Ziggler with a clothesline attempt, but Truth drops into a split, gets back up and dropkicks Ziggler down. Truth runs towards Ziggler at the turnbuckle, but Dolph steps aside and Truth hits the post shoulder first. Ziggler rolls him up from behind for a two count. Ziggler with a dropkick to Truth. Ziggler kips up and struts in the ring. He applies a chin lock submission to Truth. Ziggler does a handstand while still applying the submission. Truth fights out of it with elbows to the gut. He smacks Ziggler back, but Dolph fights back with a neckbreaker. Dolph with a jumping elbow. He taunts the fans with sit ups next to Truth. Suddenly, Truth catches Dolph and rolls him into a small package for a surprise three count.

[Winner via Pinfall: Dolph Ziggler]

We cut to backstage. Ryder is texting on his phone when Santino Marella comes barging in.

He says sorry about the entrance, sometimes he doesn't realize his own strength. He says he heard that Zack loves Eve Torres. Well he's in luck because there's nobody who knows more about love than Santino "Valentino" Marella.

Ryder asks for some tips.

Santino says to start with the breath.

He smells Ryder's breath and gasps.

He says that it smells like he needs deodorant. Worry not, for he has a prototype of Santino Marella breath strips. He's gonna make a killing!

He hands a strip to Ryder. Ryder tries it, and gag saying it's disgusting.

Santino tries it himself and seems satisfied. It's made of garlic aka "love potion number 9". Or was it love potion number 8? Or 10?

We're left with Santino pondering the right number.

-Commercial Break-

Back from break, and Beth Phoenix is at commentary with Cole and Lawler. It's announced that she will defend her Divas Championship against Tamina at Elimination Chamber.

In the ring, both Tamina and Brie Bella are already in the ring for their match.

Brie attacks Tamina from behind and tries to get her into a sliding pin position, but Tamina powers out, lifts Brie up and hits a Samoan drop. She then climbs to the top of the turnbuckle and hits a Superfly Splash for the three count.

[Winner via Pinfall: Tamina Snuka]

Beth and Tamina stare each other down.We cut to backstage. Cena and Josh Matthews are chatting. Cena will be giving his reaction to a special look at The Rock, coming up next.

-Commercial Break-

Back, and we get a special video showing The Rock and all the television and radio talk shows he's been on over the past few weeks to promote both Journey 2 and WrestleMania.

We come back to Josh and John. Josh asks for John's reaction to Rock.
Suddenly, there's a loud scream. Cena runs off and we cut to Eve screaming and getting in the back of an ambulance. Kane is right behind her. Kane closes the doors on Eve. Cena shows up and attacks Kane, slamming him against the ambulance and tossing him into some boxes. He tries to get Eve out of the ambulance, but Kane is quick to attack. He slams Cena into the ambulance door, gets in the driver's seat and starts driving off. Eve opens the ambulance door and jumps off. Cena manages to catch her. Once Kane has driven off, Eve and Cena start kissing each other passionately. When they finish, they look to the right. The camera turns to Ryder sitting there in shock still with the roses and chocolates.

-Commercial Break-

We're back, and Ryder is wheeling himself down the hallway looking angry. Eve is running after him saying to let her explain. He stops.

She says that Kane trapped her in the ambulance and he was going to take her away, and Cena came just in time to get her out, and it was the heat of the moment, and she kissed him. She's sorry he had to see that, but she just wants him to know that she really does care about him, and he never thought they were going to be together. He just wants them to be friends.

Ryder wheels himself away without saying a word.

Back at ringside, The Miz is already in the ring for his match.

CM Punk comes out next and heads to the ring as his opponent.

[Winner via Submission: CM Punk]

Backstage, Jericho is watching Punk on a monitor, a smile on his face.

Backstage once more, and an ambulance is backing up implying that Kane is back.

-Commercial Break-

Back at ringside, and John Cena comes out. He heads down to the ring to speak.

Cena says it was an awkward moment by the ambulance back there. He tried to apologize to Zack, but he wouldn't listen. For what it's worth, he's sorry. So this was it. This was Kane's plan all along. To turn his friends against him. To turn the WWE Universe against him. To leave him alone with no other choice but to embrace the hate. It's a solid plan, sounds like it would've worked if it was anybody else. But he's not anybody else. He can tell by listening here tonight that there are those who think like Kane and think that he has this switch. If he reaches his breaking point, he'll just snap. It's been six years. People like that can't understand that he's comfortable in his own skin. They can't understand that he's proud of who he is and what he can do. They don't get that he rises above hate. They think that makes him soft. Well he has a message to people who think that like. Go ahead and think that. Go ahead and think he's a cream puff fruity pebble with lady parts who can't fight his way out of a paper bag. He'll just continue to do what he does. He will adapt, overcome, and win. This Sunday at Elimination Chamber, Kane leaves in an ambulance. As for Dwayne, he has a message for him about WrestleMania.

Suddenly, Ryder wheels himself up on the ramp. He grabs his crutches, stands up, and starts slowly walking down the ramp. Ryder enters the ring. He smacks the microphone off Cena's hand. Cena tries to defend himself, but Ryder slaps him. Ryder yells at him for his actions, and goes to hit him again, but Cena stops him. Ryder falls down and tells him to get away from him. Ryder exits the ring, grabs his crutches, and walks to the back.

Kane suddenly appears on the TitanTron.

Kane says that Cena's in denial. He can talk about who he is and rising above hate, but he stole the one true love of his only friend. He thought he was sick, but he sunk t depths he can only dream of. He's finally embraced the hate. Unfortunately for him, he feeds off hate. This Sunday will be the last time anyone sees Cena compete in a ring until WrestleMania. He will not overcome. He will not adapt. And he will most certainly not win. This Sunday, his body and soul will be leaving the WWE in an ambulance. But before he leaves, let's have a round of applause for John Cena.

Cena grabs another microphone. He goes to say something, but Kane suddenly appears on the ramp behind Ryder. He grabs Ryder's wheelchair and pushes him off the ramp in a sick looking bump. Cena calls out for help and gets a medic to check on him. He brings his arms up to an X and a medical team brings out a stretcher. Eve comes out and looks down at the fallen Ryder while Cena stands in shock of what just happened. As Ryder is placed on the stretcher and taken to the back the show comes to an end.
