WWE Raw Report (03/05/12) - Boston, Massachusetts

WWE Raw 03/05
We are live in: Boston, Massachusetts
Commentators: Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler
_______________________________________________

Raw starts without the intro and goes straight to the arena.

Shawn Michaels comes out and heads to the ring to speak to the fans. The fans greet him with a "HBK" chant.

Shawn starts off by saying that the greatest thing about the HBK chant is that it gives him a moment to catch his breath because he's not used to doing his entrance anymore. Several weeks ago, he came out and caused a little trouble.

Another loud "HBK" chant.

He appreciates it, but he caught his breath already. It got pretty heated between Triple H and himself. He desperately wanted him to take the match with The Undertaker. He wanted Triple H to beat the streak, and after what he saw last year he knows he can do it. Fact of the matter is, he said no. But that's all water under the bridge now because something has made him change his mind, and it's gonna happen at WrestleMania. He not only accepted the match, but he upped the ante, and it'll be Hell in a Cell. But he has to know what made him change his mind. So hunter, come on out because he's gotta hear it from the horse's mouth.

Triple H comes out. He heads into the ring and the two embrace in a hug.

Shawn continues by saying that he knows several weeks ago he was hard on him. He threw everything AND the kitchen sink at him, but he just wanted him to take the match. It's amazing that no matter what he said, every cheap shot, every single thing that no friend should say, he pushed the envelope and he didn't buckle. The man is an oak. He tried every dirty, despicable thing he could say, but Triple H is a man of conviction. A man of honor. A man of integrity. He didn't give in. He even called Triple H a coward. He doesn't know anybody, in all the years they've known each other, nobody looks at Triple H and calls him a coward to his face and gets away with it. He did, and Triple H did nothing. That's why he says that he's an oak. But...something made him change his mind. And he's gotta know what it is. With him, he wouldn't waiver. But somebody must've said something that made him mad. Somebody must've said something to make him have a revelation. Something so humiliating, so degrading, that there was no way he was going to turn it down. What was it?

Triple H tries to say something, but gets interrupted by Shawn.

Michaels says he doesn't want him to tell him. You know what he wants to do? He wants to do what everyone else got to do and see it. Let's get someone from the production truck to show the footage. He wants to stand with his best friend of seventeen years, in front of the world, to share this moment that made him break down. Let's share this moment together.

A clip is shown of Triple H and Undertaker's confrontation from Raw two weeks ago. Taker says that Triple H knows he can't do what Shawn Michaels couldn't do. He knows that Shawn was always better than him. This causes Triple H to enter the ring and accept the challenge.

We cut back to Triple H and Shawn Michaels. Shawn is staring a hole into Triple H. Shawn says that's all it took. The worst thing that anybody could say to him is that he was better than him.

Triple H says it has nothing to do with that. He knows he didn't see it live, but he heard. He got his voice mail, but he'll say it in front of the world. It has nothing to do with if he's better than Shawn or if Shawn is better than him. He's tired of it. He's tired of listening to people like The Undertaker talk behind his back saying he couldn't get the job done. Saying that he's a failure. He's tired of people saying that on his way out, he couldn't do it because he was never as good as he thought he was. It eats him up inside because he's his friend. And he also believes deep down that he's the greatest in ring performer of all time. It kills him, it pains him beyond measure to look at Shawn as a loser. That's why he's going to finish it. He is going to end The Undertaker. He is going to end the streak. He is going to end an era. He is going to do what everybody runs their mouth saying that he couldn't do. He's going to do it for himself, and just as much, he's gonna do it for him.

Shawn says thanks for that. Here he was thinking they had a problem. But obviously they don't because, like always, Triple H, in his fancy suit, has everything figured out. Silly him. Last year it hurt him more than he could possibly imagine to tell him he couldn't get it done. Then he watched him go out there and dominated The Undertaker. He watched him go out there to show why he's The Game, The Cerebral Assassin. He beat Undertaker within an inch of his life. And then he lost. And he was right. This year, at WrestleMania, Hell in a Cell, he knows who's going to win. And he'll be right again.

Shawn goes to leave, but stops and comes back.

He's sorry, but the reason he knows that...is because he's been made the special referee.

Shawn exits the ring and heads to the back leaving Triple H standing in the ring lost in thought of what he just heard.

Tonight, John Cena and The Rock will confront each other in the ring.

And tonight's main event, WWE Champion CM Punk and Sheamus take on World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan and Chris Jericho

Meanwhile, Santino is back up and he's preparing The Cobra. He turns to the distracted Ziggler and connects with it causing Dolph to fall off the apron. Vickie Guerrero gets on the apron. Santino threatens to hit her with The Cobra, but Vickie gets off the apron quickly and Santino "holds back" his arm. Aksana makes her way over to Vickie and shoves her to the floor. Vickie gets back up and the two scream at each other. Santino sets up another Cobra. Swagger's getting up. Santino goes to strike, but Swagger ducks it, grabs Santino's leg and applies the anklelock. Long and Laurinaitis are still yelling at each other until Long shoves Laurinaitis to the floor. Swagger looks on allowing Santino to roll over and drive Swagger head first into the turnbuckle. Santino then grabs him from behind and rolls him up for the three count.

[Winner via Pinfall and NEW WWE United States Champion: Santino Marella]

Santino can't believe he won as Teddy, Aksana, and Kofi enter the ring to celebrate with him.
Laurinaitis grabs a microphone.

Laurinaitis yells to cut the music. This is HIS show!

He enters the ring.

Teddy Long cannot do this on Raw. Raw is his show-

Long snatches the microphone from him.

Long says this WAS his show, but tonight it's his show. And you know what he's going to do? He's going to give everybody in this arena a present.

He calls out security. Security heads to the ring.

Long says he's not going to play his game. The best thing for him to do is to get out of this building right now. Get out!

Laurinaitis and Otunga are forced out of the ring. They get pulled away by security. Swagger, Ziggler and Vickie follow after them.

Long tells WWE announcer Justin Roberts to repeat what he said.

Roberts announces that Santino Marella is the new United States Champion.

Santino is given the title. He's in tears as Teddy and Kofi congratulate him. Santino holds up the title for the fans. Santino, along with Teddy, Kofi and Aksana, start trumpeting around the ring.

Up next, Rock's History Lesson #1.

-Commercial Break-

Back from break, and we're told that Rock toured around Boston to give a little history lesson to John Cena.

We cut to Rock standing at Boston Harbor earlier in the day. He looks to the fans

Finally...The Rock HAS COME BACK to Boston!

Cena, tonight he gets much needed history lessons from The Rock. Lesson #1: In 1773, the great people of Boston had enough of The British. Like Cena, the British were in their faces every single week, every single month, year after year. They had enough! The people started a revolution. An American revolution. Tonight they start a Rock revolution. In 1773, the people took England's tea and threw it in the Harbor calling it the Boston Tea Party. Tonight there's gonna be a party of their own. Let's get this party started!

The camera pans out, and we see a table full of John Cena merchandise.

Rock says they're gonna take all of Cena's trash and throw it where it belong.

He grabs a Cena T-Shirt and throws it into the water. He then grabs a John Cena alarm clock.

Rock says can you imagine waking up to this face every morning. Ding ding ding ding ding! Time to get your ass whooped!

He tosses the clock into the water. He then grabs some shorts.

John Cena midget shorts. He didn't even know they made these. What an insult to midgets.

He tosses it into the water, then pulls out a John Cena garden gnome.

What fourth dimension of Hell did this come from? There's a man in his thirties or forties right now who has this in his garden. And he's a virgin.

He tosses the gnome into the water. Next up are the John Cena wristbands.

They make him look like a transvestite Wonder Woman fighting crime. Pew Pew!

Overboard they go. Rock then grabs his favorite: John Cena cologne.

They actually make this crap!

He smells it.

It smells like fear, Fruity Pebbles and possum piss!

John, the revolution begins. He can take all his hot garbage that he's been shoving down the people's throat, he can take his midget shorts, his wristbands, he can take it all, roll it up into a ball, turn it sideways and stick it straight up his rootie tootie fresh n' fruity candy ass! The revolution begins tonight. They're going all across Boston until they wind up in the middle of that ring.

Rock looks off camera

He tells a Jabroni to get a rowboat and clean up all that John Cena trash and burn it. The people's party starts tonight!

Rock walks off.

Back at ringside, and we're about to have a Divas match. Alicia Fox is already in the ring, and Kelly Kelly is at commentary. Kelly is up for the "Favorite Buttkicker" award at the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Award.

Eve Torres comes out next. She heads to the ring as Alicia's opponent.

[Match #2]

[Alicia Fox vs. Eve Torres]
[Singles Match]

The bell sounds. They grapple, and Alicia gets behind Eve. Eve grabs Alicia with a side headlock. Alicia shoves Eve into the ropes and Eve knocks her down with a shoulder tackle. Eve runs the ropes, Alicia ducks, and on the return Alicia leap frogs over her. Eve bounces back and Alicia looks for a monkey flip, but Eve front flips over her and lands on her feet. Eve turns around and Alicia catches her in a "unique" looking monkey flip. Eve gets to her feet. Alicia tries to connect with a boot to the chest, but Eve side steps and Alicia's foot hits the ropes. Eve sweeps Fox's other leg and then rolls her up for a three count.

[Winner via Pinfall: Eve Torres]

Zack Ryder then comes out with a walking cane and a microphone.

Zack says don't even bother saying anything. He's actually glad they never hooked up. Because you know what they say: Broskis before Hoeskis. WOO WOO WOO! You know it!

Ryder heads to the back leaving Eve distressed.

We cut to a shot from earlier today of the arena. It's completely empty except for John Cena sitting in one of the seats. His thoughts on the situation with Rock is next.

-Commercial Break-

We're back, and we cut to backstage. Ryder is walking away when Eve catches up to him.

She tells him to wait up.

Ryder asks what.

She has something to tell him.

Ryder tells her to just say it.

Suddenly, Eve grabs Zack and kisses him. She walks away leaving Zack breathless.

We cut back to Lawler and Cole talking about Triple H and Undertaker's match. Shawn Michaels is the special guest referee, and what did Shawn mean by his cryptic message: "I know who's going to win, and i'll be right again."

And speaking of WrestleMania, earlier today they heard from Cena about his thoughts on the big event.

Cut to the empty arena. Cena is sitting in the bleachers looking at an empty ring.

WrestleMania 28. Full of moments. Champions crowned. The end of an era. Legends remembered. Through all that, all eyes will be focused on two men in one month. It's more than a match, it's a one in a lifetime opportunity. Despite personal differences, there's no denying that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is the most successful superstar in WWE history. He has accomplished everything in the realm of the WWE and vaulted himself to super-stardom outside of the business. He vowed not to come back until he found a worthy opponent, and he decided that he found one in Cena. He doesn't intend to go to WrestleMania 28 just to be happy to be there. Not even to be honored to be along for the ride. He wants to win. He needs to win. He grew up around here. Boston is now known as the city of champions. But for so many years it was the city of heartbreak. And the most heartbreaking thing he can remember is when the New England patriots won eighteen games in a row only to lose in the biggest game of all time The Superbowl to the New York Giants. Every New England resident shares his sentiments. It holds truth to the theory that nobody remembers second place.

He's done wonderful things in WWE. He's proud of what he's done so far. But WrestleMania 28 is everything. If he doesn't win, he becomes another name in Rock's notebook of people he's defeated. But if he can win, if he can walk into Rock's backyard at the biggest stage of them all and have his hand raised, then he wins the big one. This is a match, an event that will make history. It'll be the most successful event of the WWE. It'll break every record in the history of the WWE. And nobody will remember second place. That's why he needs to win. That's why WrestleMania is so important. Because WrestleMania 28 is sink or swim, all or nothing. WrestleMania 28 is his legacy. WrestleMania 28 is once in a lifetime.

Cena stares up at the WrestleMania banner in silence.

We cut back to the arena.

Coming up next, Punk and Sheamus take on Bryan and Jericho.

Sheamus comes out next. He heads to the ring as Punk's partner.

World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryn comes out next along with his girlfriend AJ. Bryan heads into the ring as their opponent.

Chris Jericho comes out next. He heads down to the ring as Bryan's partner.

[Match #3]

He then drags Bryan back into the ring and clotheslines him down for a two count. Sheamus grabs Bryan and tags in Punk. Punk climbs to the top rope and hits a double axe handle to the arm. -Commercial Break-

Jericho exits the ring, grabs Sheamus and tosses him back into the ring. Sheamus tries to tag Punk in, but Jericho holds him back with punches to the face. He lifts Sheamus up, and Sheamus fights back only for Jericho to kick him down. Jericho continues to keep Sheamus away from Punk. Jericho gets behind Sheamus and applies a sleeper hold submission. Sheamus slowly tries to get back up, but Jericho keeps him down.

Eventually Sheamus fights back and punches him into a turnbuckle. Sheamus comes at him, but Jericho kicks him in the face. Jericho looks for a running bulldog, but Sheamus instead shoves Jericho knee first into the opposite turnbuckle. Both men are down. Jericho crawls over to Bryan. Sheamus crawls over to Punk. Both make the tags. Punk springboards off and cross body to Bryan. Bryan back up and Punk clotheslines him. Bryan attempts a clothesline of his own, but Punk ducks and hits a swinging neckbreaker. Bryan heads to the turnbuckle where Punk catches him with a running knee followed by a scoop slam. Punk climbs to the top of the turnbuckle and hits the elbow drop for a two count. Punk gets Bryan up. Bryan goes for a roundhouse kick, but Punk ducks it and shove Bryan into the ropes from behind. Punk rolls up Bryan. Jericho tries to stop the count, but Punk gets off of Bryan and clotheslines him down. Bryan catches the distracted Punk with a running dropkick. Bryan turns around and gets a clothesline on Sheamus. Sheamus grabs Bryan and goes for Celtic Cross, but Jericho kicks Sheamus in the back forcing him to drop Bryan. Jericho kicks Sheamus out of the ring. Jericho runs towards Punk at the turnbuckle, but Punk side steps and Jericho's shoulder hits the post. Meanwhile, Bryan runs off the apron towards Sheamus, but Sheamus catches him with a shot to the head and both men are down. In the ring, Punk goes for the GTS, but Jericho slips off, drops Punk down and goes for the Walls of Jericho. Punk grabs Jericho and rolls him into a small package, but Jericho rolls Punk's shoulders to the mat and gets the three count.

[Winners Via Pinfall: Daniel Bryan & Chris Jericho]

Jericho exits the ring, grabs the WWE Championship and holds it up before tosses it to Punk in the ring.

Cut to the next Rock history lesson from earlier today. Rock is standing in front of a statue of Paul Revere on his horse. He turns to the camera.

Rock History Lesson #2: Paul Revere riding through the streets of Boston saying "the British are coming, the British are coming". But think for a moment: if it had not had been Paul Revere, what if it was this goof?

Rock walks up to a cardboard cutout of Cena.

He says first of all, they would've shot Cena on sight based on the stupid outfit alone. If John Cena had led the American Revolution, right now all of us would be playing cricket, sipping tea and blessing the Queen. They’d be sick of John then just like they’re sick of him now.

He smacks the Cena cutout to the ground.

The people back been would be crying into their Johnny cakes, pleading for someone to come along and shut his mouth. Then bam, their prayers are answered. Rock comes along in a time machine back to 1776 just to whoop John Cena's ass. The time machine would land. The Rock's music would hit. The Rock's doors would open. The flux capacitor still smoking. People silenced. Jaws dropped. Nobody had ever seen anything like The Rock. 25% Black, 25% Samoan, and 50% Clydesdale

Rock turns to the statue.

He's sorry brown beauty, but Rock has got him beat. Easy, big fella! Benjamin Franklin would have looked at The Rock, then back up and said "screw that damn kite, that man invented electricity!" Then every woman in Boston would line the cobblestone streets ready to give The Rock a piece of that sweet Boston Cream "Pie". They'd be so happy, so elated because The Rock would have whooped his ass. They would be singing songs to The Rock.

Rock puts on a three corner hat and starts singing to the tune of "Yankee Doodle".

Johnny Cena went to town, riding on a pony.
Rock stuck a feather up his ass and called him a Jabroni!

They'd be so happy then, just like they'll be happy now. If Paul Revere were alive today, he'd be screaming with joy "The Rock is coming! The Rock is coming to WrestleMania to whoop John’s punk ass!" But first The Rock is coming to TD Garden to get in his face tonight!

Rock walks off.

-Commercial Break-

We're back, and we get a clip of the Santino/Swagger match earlier tonight when Teddy shoved Laurinaitis and Santino was crowned the new United States Champion. Teddy kicks Laurinaitis and Otunga out of the building.

Back at ringside, The Miz comes out. He heads to the ring for a match.

The Big Show comes out. He heads to the ring as Miz's opponent.

[Match #4]

[Big Show vs. The Miz]
[Singles Match]

The bell sounds. Miz exits the ring right away. Cody Rhodes suddenly comes out on stage laughing.

Rhodes says there's no greater wake up call than embarrassment. Wake up call, Big Show! He doesn't have a clip of him losing another match at another WrestleMania because this time he wasn't even there. Instead he's got him in his natural habitat. He's got him doing what he does best. WrestleMania 18...eating at the WWE restaurant in New York.

We get a video highlighting WrestleMania 18 in 2002. It then gets interrupted by a clip of Big Show at the WWE restaurant greeting fans and asking about food.

Cody mocks Show giving Miz time to head back into the ring and kick and punch at a distracted giant. Miz backs up and goes for a running clothesline at the turnbuckle, but Show catches him with a spear. Show then catches him with the weapon of mass destruction for the three count.

[Winner via Pinfall: The Big Show]

Show looks at Cody, then points at the WrestleMania banner. Cody leaves without a word.

Later tonight, Cena and Rock will meet face to face in the ring.

-Commercial Break-

Back from break, and we're getting one more history lesson from The Rock.

We cut to Rock outside the Massachusetts State house overlooking the Boston Common.

It was right here when they fought for their Independence, and they didn't stop fighting until the fighting was done. The great American fighting spirit which lives and breathes in The Rock, lead to an overthrow of tyranny and the birth of the greatest country under God's hot sun. Something else is going to be overthrown. Something that people have been waiting ten long years for. The Rock revolution overthrowing John Cena. That's why Rock is back. He can entertain around the world, but there's only one place he can fight: the WWE. Only one place he can take his size fifteen boot and stick it straight up a certain smiling Superman's candy ass while the world cheers him on. When the Rock says the world, he's talking about the millions and millions of the Rocks fans. He's got the charisma of George Washington, the intelligence of Ben Franklin, and the you-know-what of John Hancock!

Now that Rock has taken him on a history lesson, he's going to make history. WrestleMania. April 1st. 2012. Mark his words. The Rock will beat John Cena. He will fall. But that's April 1st. This is March 5th. The Rock revolution has begun. We are live in Boston, and The Rock is coming to the TD Garden, and he's gonna look you in the eye and tell you what he sees. Get ready, John.

If you smeeeeeeell...what the Rock is cooking!

-Commercial Break-

Next week, live on Raw, Shawn Michaels and Undertaker will confront each other.

Back at the arena, R-Truth comes out. He heads to the ring for a match.

Earlier tonight, camera caught R-Truth. We get a picture-on-picture shot of Truth.

He says that when Kane comes out, there are explosions and fire all over the place. Well Little Jimmy says...wait a minute...who the heck is he talking to

Kane comes out next. He heads to the ring as Truth's opponent.

We get a clip from last week on Smackdown when Kane attacked Randy Orton during his match with Daniel Bryan which ended with a chokeslam. His message to Orton: "Welcome back, Randy."

[Match #5]

[Kane vs. R-Truth]
[Singles Match]

The bell sounds. Kane goes after Truth, but Truth ducks and punches Kane at the turnbuckle. Kane shoves him off. Truth gets back on him with more punches. Kane shoves him again and adds a big boot to the face as well. Kane grabs Truth and tosses him into another turnbuckle. He throws punches left and right at him. Snapmare to truth followed by a leg drop for a two count. Kane grabs Truth and whips him into the turnbuckle followed by a running clothesline. Another whip to a turnbuckle, but Truth fights out of it. He ducks a clothesline with a split followed by a dropkick that staggers Kane. Truth runs the ropes and goes for an axe kick, but Kane side steps, grabs Truth by the neck and hits the chokeslam for the three count.

[Winner via Pinfall: Kane]

Kane raises fire from the turnbuckles, but then Orton's theme plays. Orton comes out and heads to the ring. Kane waits for him, but Truth grabs him by the leg. Kane tries to fight Truth off allowing Orton enough time to slide into the ring and hit Kane with the RKO. Orton grabs a microphone.

He says it's good to be back.

Orton tosses the microphone and stands over Kane.

Cut to backstage. Cena is heading to the ring for his confrontation with The Rock.

-Commercial Break-

Back from our final break of the night. John Cena comes out. He heads to the ring and prepares to speak.

This place is packed! There's people behind the scoreboard, he doesn't think they could fit anymore. He knows why. Because The Rock is back! Finally, the REAL Rock, the Rock he needs to face. He's been all over Boston giving history lessons. They're exciting, they are entertaining, electrifying, and everything The Rock needs to be.

Cue Rocky chant.

It's exciting, but if you sift through all the infomercial yelling and head whips, what's The Rock really saying? Last week he stood face to face with Rock, told him what his problem is, and what's he doing about it. But what's Rock saying about him?

"Fruity Pebbles chant"

He is obsessed with breakfast cereal, makes fun of the way that he looks, he talks about whatever he's calling his penis, and he talks about how many girls he's had sex with. Is he fighting Rock or "The Situation" from Jersey Shore? This guy's trying way too hard. He's a Vodka mixer and a Corvette away from a full mid-life crisis. Did any of them see last week? For the first time in his illustrious career, he was shook up. Damn was he shooked. He came in the ring and wasted twenty minutes on a Twitter thing, and then he came out, and when he left he was stumbling on his words like he was in the middle of Winter. He wasn't sounded like Rock, he was sounding like rain man. The untouchable Dwayne Johnson shook? Who could've done that? Who was the man with the smoking gun in his hand? Sounds unbelievable, but The Rock got shook up by a prep school thug with no balls that dresses like a Wonder Woman transvestite.

Seriously, take a look at him from head to toe. He looks ridiculous! He's wearing orange and silver shoes with black socks! That's not even the worst part. He came out to talk and he's wearing knee pads. That's 10,000 jokes right there. But Rock was shaken down. But now he's all over the city and he's got that University of Miami swagger back and he wants to waltz on down and meet him face to face in the ring. Personally, he thinks it's a bad idea because his best stuff is either pre-recorded or via satellite. But for him it's a good idea because he needs to know who's going to show up. Is it the dude who's going to waste twenty minutes talking about Johnny's takeout? Or is it going to be the greatest superstar in the WWE? He needs this just like they all need this. He hopes they hear "If ya smell..." and out comes The Rock. He doesn't want to beat the second best at WrestleMania. Do they all wanna see Rock back tonight? He's been talking trash and saying he's gonna be here. Would you like to see him there? He would too. Let's see who's going to show up for WrestleMania. Bring on The Rock!

Rock comes out. He heads to the ring and walks around Cena. The two eye one another.

Rock says don't think that he's not going to come out to the TD Garden and not say one more time "FINALLY The Rock has come back...to Boston!"

He said he was going to come here, look him in the eye, and tell the world what he sees. Fear. Fear that he's taking everything away. Fear that everything he worked hard for the last ten years, it all goes away when he beats him. He sees the fear in his eyes. The Rock hears the fear and doubt in his words. He sees right through him. He thinks he shook his confidence? Look at him. The Rock has never, ever, ever been more confident about anything in his life.

The fans chant "Tooth Fairy"

Cena says he knows they're close to Tewksbury, but they're chanting Tooth Fairy, right?

John needs to understand something about him. Strip away WrestleMania, the glitz and glam, Hollywood, the catchphrases, at The Rock's core, he's 6'4, 260 pounds of man that will rip his throat out. At his core, he will always be a little boy who will go down in history as The Rock's bitch.

Rock walks away from Cena and exits the ring. He heads to the back. Cena writes something down on his wrist.
