As noted, 2K and WWE held a press conference on Monday morning to officially announce A.J. Styles as the cover star for the new WWE 2K19 video game.
Following the press conference, where "The Phenomenal One" spoke briefly, the reigning WWE Champion was interviewed about the honor.
"As a gamer, this is special to me. Maybe some of you can understand this but it may be right at the top," Styles said. "There are goals that I've set, things that I didn't think I'd ever accomplish. This is one that I didn't think would ever happen. To be on the cover of WWE 2K19... I can't put it into words."
When asked about living up to the level set by past WWE 2K video game cover stars such as Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins, John Cena and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Styles said that it is intimidating, and we will find out in time if he is able to live up to it.
WWE 2K19 is scheduled to be released in stores worldwide for PS4, XBOX ONE and Windows PC starting October 9th.
