News On The WWE Brand Monty Brown Is Headed To

source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

WWE officially signed former TNA star Monty Brown on November 15th. The preliminary idea was to put him on RAW, with the quota deal being part of the reason. They have an African-American star in MVP on SmackDown. They also have one in Bobby Lashley on ECW. They have Shelton Benjamin on RAW, but they don't push him. So well, it would seem likely that Monty Brown would go to RAW.

There has also been some thought on sending him to SmackDown so that he could hide his flaws better because it is a taped show. Furthermore, the original idea was to send him to ECW. When Johnny Ace said that Brown was coming in, Paul Heyman made a pitch for him to be on ECW whereas RAW writer Brian Gewirtz and SmackDown writer Michael Hayes didn't at first.

WWE has gone into full "ignore TNA publicity" mode as in its website story on Brown, they listed him as being a former NFL player and that he trained under Dan Severn & Sabu, but the indication given was that he had never wrestled before.
