We now have additional information on Terry "Hulk Hogan" Bollea’s lawsuit against the former owners of WCW stemming from the “Bash at the Beach” incident. Fulton State Court Judge Susan B. Forsling issued a ruling on 8/6 that Vince Russo’s interview was bogus. She said that in the interview presented, Russo was referring not to Terry Bollea the real life person, but rather to Hulk Hogan the fictional character. She added that Bollea does have a case, but not in the case of defamation. Since Hogan had a contract stating he had full creative control over his character, she said, he can sue for breach of contract, in addition to being contractually obligated to only work 6 pay-per-view main events a year. The Judge ruled that Russo was not aiming at Bollea personally; the fictional "Vince Russo" was simply verbally attacking the fictional “Hulk Hogan” for entertainment purposes as pro wrestlers usually do. For those of you who don’t quite remember what happed, at the pay-per-view Hogan was scheduled to face Jeff Jarrett, but Jeff was ordered to just get into the ring and lay down, which, as you know now, he did.
The former WCW owners have settled out of court with Scott Hall over merchandising royalties. Kevin Nash’s lawsuit is still outstanding.
