  • The following press release regarding Chris Benoit appearing on the WWE RAW tour of Japan was issued today by the WWE:

2004 Royal Rumble Winner will be joining the RAW Superstars in Japan

STAMFORD, Conn., January 28, 2004 - WWE RAW’s “Road To WrestleMania” Tour is coming to Japan in February. WWE will be making its debuts at the Hiroshima Sun Plaza in Hiroshima on February 5, the Osaka Jo Hall on February 6 and the Saitama Super Arena on February 7. Tickets for all three events are on-sale now!

Recently added to the star-studded tour roster of WWE RAW Superstars is the 2004 Royal Rumble winner and veteran of Japanese wrestling scene, Chris Benoit, who eliminated Big Show in the Royal Rumble match this past Sunday to earn a WrestleMania XX World Championship Title berth at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, March 14, 2004. Benoit became the second man in WWE history to win the Royal Rumble match despite having the disadvantage of being the first of 30 entrants in the match.

Benoit will face Evolution member Batista on Thursday night, February 5 at the Hiroshima Sun Plaza. He will also appear on the final two nights of the “Road to WrestleMania XX” February tour. He will face Triple H in the main event of the February 6 Osaka Jo Hall live event. At the Saitama Super Arena on Saturday, February 7, Benoit will face Chris Jericho, who battled Benoit all over Japan in 1995.

The February 7 event at Saitama Super Arena show has grossed over $1.7 million (U.S.) at the gate making it the largest-grossing non-televised event in WWE history. Due to production releases, tickets still remain on-sale for the show.

  • Today Jim Rome had an brief appearance by The Rock on his radio show. While most of the conversation was about the two movies "The Rundown" and "Walking Tall", Rock stated that he would be making only one appearance this year with WWE as things currently stand, and it would be at WrestleMania XX.
