rajah.com Mailbag
-By Kayfabe and Rajah

Alright, I have re-opened the Mailbag section with the help of two individuals, Kayfabe and Grandpa. Hopefully, it will work out better this time, as the above individuals will handle the great BULK of the emails.

Here are the steps to take if you like your question answered in the Mailbag section:

1. Please check to see that your question(s) have not been answered on any other sections of the page. Take great note of the FAQ Part I and FAQ Part II as well as the mailbag archives at the bottom of the page. .
2. Send a legibly written question or comment to mailbag@rajah.com. Please limit yourself to only one question per person per email. This allows us to update the mailbag more frequently.
3. ALL email sent there may potentially be included in the Mailbag. If you do not want your response posted, do NOT send it there!
4. If a name is included, I will post it along with the email. If you do not want your name published, do NOT write it!
5. Remember, it is impossible that every email I receive get posted on this page. Only the best and most popular questions/comments will likely make it on.
6. Also remember, that questions will be answered by either Kayfabe or Rajah, so any personal remarks should be addressed accordingly. The following color scheme will be used:

Rajah - GREEN
Kayfabe - YELLOW
MTR - PURPLE

Was D'lo Brown ever a member of D-Generation X?

Never.

Hey I have a question for Pete. MTR said "Don't get Pete started on the People's Elbow." Well I want to know what u have against that move. it does exactally what it is supposed to do, which is get the fans excited.

Eh, with time I've become kinder to it, but I'm kind of from the Mick Foley school of thought that if you actually think about it's the most ridiculous move around. He doesn't really use it as a finisher anymore, so I have no reason to complain, but when it was first catching on he tried to put it over as a legitimate finisher, and that I didn't like. But all is well that ends well, I suppose.

I'd just like to give props to Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle for selling each others submission moves by tapping out. The only character who I never see tap out is the Rock. During the Rock's feud with Benoit he no-sold the Crossface and in my opinion that hurt that moves credibility. Even during ambushes where Benoit would strap on the Crossface for 5 minutes the Rock didn't sell it by tapping. I was just wondering your opinion on it because from a character standpoint it makes no sense. The Rock isn't a badass, his character a cocky, arrogant jackass. And just for the record, I'm going to vomit if I see him do another backflip over the Stunner! Why not fly over the ropes and throught the announce table. Thanks for reading and answering.

Maybe it has a little to do with the fact that Benoit was never booked to go over him and so he was never required to tap to the move. And for the record, the Rock has done jobs for Benoit before. Just check out the old 2000 WWF Record Book if you don't believe me.

Hi crew! Iv'e been sending this question in for the last three months but it never gets answered! Could you please answer it this time? Right then, here goes again! In 1991 and 1992 I purchased two offical WWF annuals from my local shop (they are offical I checked), but since then I havn't seen them in the shops anywhere! Do you have any idea why? thanks

I'm not sure they continued being published after the early 90's. Anyone have any insight pertaining to this matter?

What's up to the mailbag crew! This is more of a response than a question. Someone wrote in to the last mailbag (#38), and asked who had made the most face/heel turns in their career. I'm no wrestling expert by any means, but I've been watching wrestling for about 18 of my 23 years on this earth, and the wrestler I've seen make the most turns would have to be the Flex Express himself; Lex Luger. I know in his WWF run, he only made the turn from heel to face once I'm pretty sure, but in his NWA/WCW days, sometimes it seemed liked he made the turn on an almost weekly basis. I don't have an exact number, but I even remember WCW commentators making a point of stating that he wasn't the most trustworthy individual. And it seems like in the far reaches of my sometimes burnt out mind (filled with malted hops and bong resin), that I saw a wrestling magazine one time where Lex even won an unofficial award for most turns or being most untrustworthy or something like that.

That's probably the best candidate I've heard. Back in the late 80's, the NWA turned Luger way too much and it ultimately damaged his popularity and effectiveness as either a heel or a face after awhile.

hey raj,in the last mailbag you said there was never any gay angles in wwf .i might be wrong but i could have sworn there was a gay angle between grandmaster and scotty2hotty.i didn't see it but my friend said it lead to a gay wedding angle were the king interfeared,i also heard a rumour that they were in a real life relationship.i don't know wether its true maybe u do.

They had a gimmick that implied they might be playing for the other team. The wedding never came close to materializing and there's no way either is gay in reality. In fact, I believe both are happily married.

Chyna actually has popped one of hers in the past, an instance I've heard her refer to many times, though I've never heard her mention the details surrounding it.

Hey Rajah, Kayfabe and Co,

Love the Mailbag (and the site of course), and I thought I would contribute by giving a better answer to a question from the Hitman in Mailbag 37:

From: The Hitman During the Royal Rumble match in 1999 (I think), Road Dogg uses a strange method by hanging onto the bottom rope for all of the match ("like a slug" as JR says). Do you know why considering he obviously wasn't going to win? Could it be due to his rumoured drug habit?

Firstly, this is from the 2000 Royal Rumble (if you remember JR didn't commentate at the 99 Rumble due to his Cerebral Palsy), and at the time Road Dogg was suffering from quite bad flu. You may also remember earlier in the night the much hyped New Age Outlaws vs Acolytes Tag Title match only lasts about four minutes with the Road Dogg getting virtually no in ring action.

Therefore, when the Road Dogg entered the Rumble, instead of getting thrown straight out (he was a Tag Champion, and the WWF wouldn't have wanted him to look 'weak'), he clung to the bottom rope for about 10 minutes, before getting up, giving a horrendously bad false laugh at I believe Al Snow getting eliminated, then being eliminated himself by Billy Gunn.

Personally I think they should have just taken him out of the Rumble, but that's the way the WWF works, isn't it?

Thanks for the clarification.

I read your mailbag #37 and this has to do with your answer to the question about the Nation of Domination/Boricuas/DOA "Gang Wars" and racial things etc.

Well you got it right when you said the Nation was African-American and the Boricuas were Hispanic. But the DOA wasn't an all-white biker group! I remember Crush being from Hawaii!!!!!!

Right... a white guy from Hawaii.

i won't even say how great your site is because i know you have heard it before, a couple of times. anyways i just wanted to know know something: back in 92 i went to see a house show in Halifax and while all the big names were there, taker, hulk, macho, the big hair'd freek and the (?)berzker(?). the show was not serious at all. ref's were being pantsed, wrestlers were bring fans in the ring to help. it was like a danm circus. i just wanted to know if they still put on show like that.

From time to time there will be comedy matches or interviews like that, but for the most part the WWF keeps it serious on the road.

Hey guys, i was just wondering, in Mick Foleys new book Foley Is Good, he talks about the PTC, and Brent Bozell for a long time in the epilouge. After reading this It seemed like it sounded familiar, then i rememebered, the PTC does exactly what the RTC does, and censors, so my question is, is the RTC an angle made up to poke fun at the PTC, or is it just another angle? Thanks for your help.

Oh yeah. Parody at its finest, don't you agree?

Hey, is Jeff Hardy the youngest wrestler in the WWF? I know's he 23 and I can't think of anyone who is younger than him. Do you know?

I think Essa Rios is 21.

From: CSX2765
Ok, I don't know what is with all of these fans. I don't think Paul Heyman sucks, I think he is much better than King. To me King is just someone who just doesn't belong in the WWF any more!

I'm a fan of both. I love the commentary work Heyman has done so far.

Why does Bob Costas hate Vince McMahon and wrestling so much?

First off, Costas was actually a big wrestling fan for years, but being the well respected figure in mainstream sports media that he is, do you expect him to stand up for something like the WWF? Certainly not. His peers would laugh at him. He would damage his credibility. Fair or unfair, that's the way society is. Bob probably does hate the direction wrestling has taken with its sexual overtones and foul language, but I don't think he hates Vince... until Vince became confrontational with him anyway. When talking about that interview, it's a whole new ballgame.

Hey guys. I have a question about Jakked/Metal. Did either of these shows used to be known as "Shotgun Saturday night?" I believe the RAW after the Columbine shootings the WWF ran a message before the show, and i never heard of Shotgun again. Also, was Shotgun supposed to be another big show for the wwf? I ask because i believe the first ep. had Ahmed Johnson powerbombing Jim cornette on the roof of a car, and they showed this highlight on RAW. That is about the only Shotgun highlight that I can recall being showed on regular WWF TV. Did the show just bomb? Thanks.

It used to be called Shotgun Saturday Night and was originally live from New York each Saturday night. It was a major show but slowly turned into the lower quality that we all associate Jakked/Metal with today when the WWF realized it was stupid to air a major show on Saturday night's at 11, a realization they'd better consider when choosing a timeslot for the new WCW. I don't believe the changing of the name had anything to do with Columbine.

Hey guys. My friend and I are arguing about Kurt Angle's medals. His arguement is that they are the real gold medals he won in 1996. But I say they are not because they may be prone to damage, may get lost, ect. Try to settle this little disput for us. Thanks.

Looks like you win that one, Sean.

When Jake Roberts left WWF in '92, did he go to WCW?. How long was he there because when he returned to the WWF in '96, they had an angle involving Jerry lawler and Jake. The WWF said during that time he wasn't there, he was dealing with alcohol and drug problems so they had the King make fun of that and even had Jake Roberts staggering down the ailes drunk at one time. So, where was he during that time, was the drunken storyline true, or was he in WCW?

He only stayed in WCW for a couple months and his only WCW PPV match was against Sting at Halloween Havoc '92. Jake had a bevy of drug and alcohol problems throughout his career, and when he sobered up (somewhat) and returned to the WWF in '96, they decided to incorporate his past into a storyline with Lawler.

was michaels in on the screwjob? i've read the screwjob story on the site but what about sources apart from dave meltzer. great site, keep up good work.

No one can say for sure, but most agree that Michaels had to be in on it, and I'd tend to agree. Those that think only Vince and Earl Hebner were in on it are kidding themselves, because everything went way too smoothly for that to be the case. The entire TV crew had to knowsince they kept the cameras off Bret during the closing minutes of the show, and the PPV went off the air fifteen minutes early. All sorts of backstage officials were surely in on it, and since it was that well planned I definitely think Shawn, the guy in the ring with Bret, had to be in on it as well.

hey guys, just wanna say that you all have the best site in the world!!! correct me if I'm wrong but it seems to me that a few wrestlers' music have been "recycled". e.g. Haku's current music were used by The Headshrinkers, Kurt Angle's music was used by The Patriot and The Sultan, Tiger Ali Singh and The Iron Shiek all share the same music.

I believe you're correct on all accounts.

Can you tell me the name of the love song played in the tribute to Macho Man Randy Savage and Elizabeth during Summerslam 91? Also is Summerslam 91 out on DVD/VHS?

I can't be positive, but I'm pretty sure it's called "Together Forever" as that seems to be the title line. No one marked out for that song more than I did when they recycled it for the Test/Stephanie wedding a year and a half ago. Summerslam '91 is out on VHS, but not DVD.

this is to the guy who asked about jason sensation. yes jason sensation and the dx nation parody can be found on the best of raw vol. 1. i know because i have it. also i was wondering is it true that mick foley held a grudge against the rock after there 1999 i quit royal rumble match?

Never to the point that he had a problem working with him or that he hated him, but it did upset Foley very much and it took awhile for him to get over it. He speaks about it at length in his latest book "Foley Is Good".

Hey Raj, Kayfabe, and MTR. Great site even though I can't visit it all the time because of AOL. I've been wondering about something ever since Jerry Lynn made his debut in the WWF. For some reason when i watched the wcw i heard his name being used and i was wondering if that was really him. If he was could you please tell me what year(s) he was in WCW.

He wrestled in WCW under a mask under the name of "Mr. JL" in the mid to late 90's before establishing himself as one of ECW's stars. WCW had another wrestler a couple years back named Jerry Flynn (if memory serves), so perhaps you're confusing the two.
