We start with video from last week, when Triple H, Ric Flair, and Randy Orton joined Batista to make his match with Scott Steiner a four-on-one affair. The Raw music video plays, the pyros explode, and we are LIVE from Chicago! Tonight, Triple H and Batista will face RVD and Kane. Will Stone Cold make an announcement about Bischoff's invitation? We'll find out, but first...
Booker T comes out to answer a challenge from Jeff Hardy. Jeff comes out as we watch video of Jeff's challenge of RVD last week, when Van Dam used a backslide to win, causing Jeff to attack RVD after the match and almost hit him with a chair.
Booker gets a side-headlock to start, but Jeff floats over him and ducks a calf kick. They reset, and Booker hits some knees and a club to the back. Chops by Booker, but Jeff comes back with a flying forearm. Mounted punches by Jeff 1-2-shoulder up.
Booker knees Jeff in the gut and chops him into the ropes. Jeff comes off the ropes with another forearm and scores a two count. Reverse chin lock by Hardy, but Booker breaks the hold and hits a reverse thrust kick. Spinning heel kick by Booker 1-2-kickout.
Big boot by Jeff, then a front dropkick 1-2-kickout. Jeff stops before a Booker kick, and Booker gets hung up on the ropes. Jeff looks for the Whisper in the Wind, but Booker sidesteps him. Spinebuster by Booker 1-2-kickout.
Jeff sidesteps the scissors kick and hits a jawbreaker. He trips Booker and hits the double legdrop. Jeff again goes for the Whisper in the WInd and hits it this time 1-2-kickout. Booker leapfrogs Jeff in the corner and rolls him up with a bodyscissors 1-2-3!
After the match, Booker hits a Spinaroonie, only for Jeff to catch him with a neckbreaker. He clotheslines Booker out of the ring and goes up top. He leaps for Booker on the outside, but Booker sidesteps him and smashes him into the security barrier.
In the back, Coach asks Scott Steiner for his reaction to what happened last week. Steiner says he's going to the ring right now to call Triple H out. Fade Out.
Sirens fill the arena, as Big Poppa Pump comes to the ring. We all saw what happened last week. Triple H was behind the whole thing. But Triple H doesn't know Steiner, and doesn't know what he's capable of. So he's calling Steiner out again tonight.
Triple H comes out on the stage, holding his Title in one hand and a mic in the other. What is Steiner so upset about? How long will it take for him to realize that Triple H is better than he is? He said he was better, and proved it. He said he was bigger, and proved it. He said he was smarter, and last week, he proved it. And now Steiner wants to get in the ring one more time? Maybe he'll prove himself one more time.
Actually, Triple H realizes he forgot to mention that from now on, when you call out Triple H, you don't just get him. You also get Ric Flair, Randy Orton, and Batista. So if Steiner still wants him to come to the ring, they don't have a problem with it.
The four start walking to the ring, and Steiner readies himself for all of them. Orton and Batista come in the ring as Steiner reaches down to his leg, where he has a pipe concealed. He cracks Orton and Batista, and suddenly Triple H and company have second thoughts about entering the ring. Fade Out.
In the back, Terri asks D'Lo Brown about his never having fought a superhero, like The Hurricane. Teddy Long takes the mic and asks why there were no black superheros. Superman was a nice white boy who could fly. He was the Man of Steel. The only black superhero was Black Lightning, and what could he do? Shoot lightning out his ass? Well there's a new superhero in town, and he'll get everyone down with the brown.
In the arena, Hurricane comes down, followed by D'Lo and Teddy. D'Lo catches Hurricane with a smack to the face, then a jumping calf kick. Elbows to the back by D'Lo, then stomps. D'Lo applies an abdominal stretch, using the ropes when he has the opportunity. Helms breaks out by armdragging D'Lo. Hurricane goes for a swinging DDT, but D'Lo reverses it 1-2-kickout.
Hurricane comes back with a headscissors, but D'Lo returns to attacking Hurricane's back. Helms tries to come back with a few forearms, then a sleeper slam 1-2-kickout.
Hurricane again hits a headscissors, this time sending D'Lo out of the ring. Helms follows it up with a sommersault plancha, but aggrevates his back in the process. He rolls D'Lo into the ring and pins 1-2-shoulder up.
D'Lo again with clubs to the back. Helms ducks a clothesline and looks for a headscissors, but D'Lo blocks it and hits the Fade to Black 1-2-3! Fade Out.
As we return, Chief Morley is watching tape of SmackDown, when Hulk Hogan returned and had a confrontation with Vince. Bischoff comes in and tells him to turn it off. Morley gushes about how great this is, as it might put Bischoff in a better light. Bischoff says this is Vince McMahon, someone who thrives on anger. The last thing they need is a pissed-off McMahon, and they only have two weeks left. Bischoff says he has an idea.
In the back, Terri announces that next week, Chris Jericho will take on Scott Steiner in a #1 Contenders Match. But first, they want to address the condition of Stacy Kiebler.
We get video recap of Jericho's inadvertant chairshot on Kiebler, the medical attention she received, and Jericho's insistance that he did not mean to hit her.
Terri tells us that Stacy suffered a Stage 2 concussion, and is recovering at home with Test. Terri says that they all believe that the chairshot was inadvertant, but shouldn't Jericho appologize to Stacy and Test? Jericho says that he doesn't owe anyone an appology, but he does have to be a man, and so he will go to the ring to address the situation. Fade Out.
We come back as Chris Jericho enters the ring. Sometimes, situations occur that are out of our control. Recently, one of those things happened to him. We obviously know what he's talking about: his #1 Contender's match next week.
But he hasn't forgotten about Stacy Kiebler. He regrets everything that happened, and he'll say what everyone wants him to say: he's sorry.
Christian's music hits, and he comes to the ring. Christian says that Jericho doesn't have to appologize for anything. This is a wrestling ring, not a dance floor. Stacy had no business being at ringside, and while it's a shame, sometimes when you play with fire, you get burned. What happened is Stacy Kiebler's fault.
Jericho says Christian is wrong. It was not Stacy's fault. It was Test's fault. If Test was a real man, he wouldn't have ducked the chairshot, and Stacy never would have been hit. That's why he's sorry. He's sorry Stacy has such a coward for a boyfriend. He's sorry all the assclowns feel bad that she was hurt. But this was not his fault. Test got exactly what he deserved for bringing his precious little Stacy to ringside, and for throwing Jericho out of the Rumble while he was distracted. For a man who brags about Testicles, he obviously has none.
Moans fill the arena, and the Showstopper, the Icon, the Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels comes out on stage.
It sounds like Jericho is trying to talk about what it takes to be a man, and he's doing it while wearing checkered pants. A man takes responsability for his actions, whether they are right or wrong. A man doesn't hide under the ring and jump another man from behind. A man looks another man in the eyes and says that he's coming to fight. In fact, Michaels tells Jericho that he's coming to fight.
Michaels drops the mic and runs to the ring. He knocks out Christian and works on Jericho, but Christian comes back and Michaels gets doubleteamed. Michaels sidesteps Christian and tosses him out of the ring, then nails Jericho, causing him to leave the ring.
In the back, Victoria has a picture of Trish on a trashcan, and beats it with a broomstick while Stevie Richards yells encouragement. Fade Out.
Trish comes down the ramp and gets ambushed by Victoria and her broomstick. Victoria chokes her with the stick, but Trish flips over and reverses the choke. Victoria tosses Trish into the stairs and takes the time to pose with the Title.
Victoria tosses Trish over the security barrier, but Trish comes back with a high kick and a diving clothesline from the barrier 1-2-shoulder up. Victoria shoulder thrusts Trish into the apron, then rolls her into the ring. Slingshot legdrop by Victoria 1-2-shoulder up.
Shoulder thrusts by Victoria in the corner, but Trish sidesteps and Victoria rams into the ringpost. Trish clocks Victoria with a lid, then tosses some weapons into the ring. He takes two lids and crash them into Victoria's head. Trish looks for a catapult, but Victoria catches her with a lid. Victoria looks to catapult Trish into a can set in the corner, but she instead turns around and catapults Trish up into the bottom of the can. Victoria hits another lidshot 1-2-shoulder up.
Back elbow by Victoria, who goes up top, but Trish cracks her with a lid. Hurricanrana by Trish 1-2-shoulder up. Chops by Trish, then a kick that sends Victoria out of the ring. Trish hits a Lou Thesz Press from the apron and hits punches. Back in the ring, Trish hits a falling neckbreaker 1-2-kickout.
Stevie Richards tries to spray Trish with a fire extinguisher, but it won't go off. Victoria yells at him, as he finally gets it to work, spraying it into Victoria's face. Trish slides into Richards and hits Victoria with the broomstick. Richards comes in and distracts Trish, allowing Vicotria to take her down 1-2-shoulder up.
Trish goes for Stratusfaction, but Stevie gets on the apron and blocks her. Victoria pushes Trish out of the ring and face-first into the security barrier. Victoria goes outside and pins 1-2-3!
As Victoria and Stevie celebrate up the ramp, Jazz makes her return to action by coming out, shoving Victoria out of the way and marching into the ring. Trish looks up just in time to see Jazz stomp her in the face. Raised chickenwing by Jazz, then a DDT. She stomps away on Trish, then applies an STF. Fade Out.
The Dudleys immediately attack Regal and Storm, with D-Von attacking Regal with his own flag, while BuhBuh smashes Storm into the apron and then cracks him with the Canadian flag.
In the ring, BuhBuh and Storm start off, with BuhBuh spearking Storm and tossing him out of the ring. About the same time, D-Von rolls Regal into the ring and beats him into the corner. Clothesline by D-Von, then a splash by BuhBuh. D-Von goes second rope and hits a diving clothesline. Double neckbreaker on Regal. Storm runs in and gets the 3D! Scoop slam to Regal, as D-Von goes up for the Wassup Headbutt.
BuhBuh calls for the tables and D-Von goes outside. He looks around under the ring, but he can't find any tables. BuhBuh goes out and looks, and finds that indeed, there are no tables under the ring.
Chief Morley appears on the stage with a table, saying that he would never give them a Tag Title shot in their specialty match. The Dudleys start up the ramp, and Morley begins to back away, only for Three Minute Warning to ambush the Dudleys from behind.
Superkick to D-Von to send him down the ramp, as Rosie stomps BuhBuh down the ramp. They toss D-Von into the ring and Rosie splashes him in the corner.
BuhBuh rushes in and clocks Jamal. He attacks Rosie, only to be tossed into Jamal's Samoan Drop. Spike Dudley now rushes down and hits the Acid Drop on Jamal! He goes for the Acid Drop on Rosie, but Rosie drops him onto the ropes, and Rico kicks him off.
Three Minute Warning now set the table up in the ring as Regal and Storm start to come to. Rosie picks up D-Von as Regal and Storm help powerbomb him through the table. Morley comes down and personally presents them with the Titles. Fade Out.
We come back as Triple H and his crew have confronted Eric Bischoff about the Jericho/Steiner #1 Contender's Match. Then he realizes that they can have their way in determining the outcome, and they leave with a plan.
In the back, Matt and John from Tough Enough 3 prepare themselves for their first match under their contracts. Al Snow comes up and offers them encouragement, only for Chris Nowinski to be seen scheming in the background.
In the back, Kane asks if RVD understands after he eliminated Van Dam in the Rumble. RVD says he understands, and he knows that they're unstoppable as a team. Kane has power, and he has agility. Kane has the chokeslam, and RVD has the Five Star...and the Van Daminator...and the Van Terminator...and the Rolling Thunder... but Kane still has the chokeslam. They get ready to take on Triple H and Batista, as Van Dam does his "R-V-D" only for Kane to do follow suit as the "Big-Red-Machine." Fade Out.
Matt and John come out with head trainer Al Snow for an exhibition match.
They lock up, and John scores a side headlock. Matt reverses into one of his own and takes John to the mat. Matt goes back to the headlock, and hits a shoulder block. Hiptoss by Matt 1-2-kickout.
Matt again goes for the headlock, but John punches out and flips over a hiptoss and armdrags. Chris Nowinski runs down and shoves Al Snow into the ringpost and gets in the ring.
He grabs a mic and says that he has seen enough. We all know he didn't win Tough Enough, so the last thing he needs is the two of them rubbing it in. Tommy Dreamer runs down with a kendo stick and forces Nowinski from the ring. Dreamer says that, what Nowinski wanted to say was "Congratulations to Matt and John on winning Tough Enough 3."
He tells them how lucky they are to be standing in a WWE ring on their fourth day in the business, in front of a packed house, in Chicago. So on behalf of everyone in the back and every veteran both past and present, welcome to the WWE. With that, Dreamer shakes their hands and then cracks them across the heads with the kendo stick.
In the back, Bischoff leaves his office with an envelope. Fade Out.
Raw GM Eric Bischoff comes out to the ring, envelope in hand. Stone Cold Steve Austin... is not here tonight. But don't blame him. When Stone Cold left the WWE, this is what they were told:
Footage from the special Confidential about the Austin situation rolls, with Vince talking about Austin taking his ball and going home, as well as JR saying that he has issues that maybe someday might be explained to the public.
Bischoff says there are two sides to every story, and he is proud to say that Stone Cold Steve Austin has taken him up on his offer to tell everyone his side in the latest Raw Magazine. Bischoff takes the issue out of his envelope, showing us where Austin will talk about Vince's comments, as well as those of his "buddy" JR, and his recently divorced wife, Debra. The Rattlesnake will tell us exactly what he thinks. It will be uneditted and uncensored. He will talk about Triple H and about The Rock. He will cover it all.
But Bischoff hopes Austin will also take up Bischoff's offer to return at No Way Out, and then return home to Raw. He knows Steve is watching at home, and he knows everyone here wants to remind him why he should seriously consider his offer.
As the crowd chants "Austin! Austin!" Stone Cold's Desire video plays, reminding us of why Austin's choice as Superstar of the Decade was the correct one, and not just for storyline purposes. Fade Out.
Batista and Kane start off, with Batista pushing Kane into the corner and kneeing into him. Clothesline by Kane, then punches in the corner. Back elbow by Batista, then a clothesline. Choke on the ropes by Batista. Kane ducks a clothesline and hits one of his own. Tag to RVD, who gets tossed onto Batista by Kane 1-2-kickout.
RVD trips Batista and hits a spinning legdrop for a two count. Shoulder thrusts by Van Dam, but Batista spears him down 1-2-shoulder up. Tag to Triple H, who immediately pushes Van Dam into a corner.
Stomps by Triple H, then a choke on the ropes. Van Dam flips over Trips and hits a spinning heel kick. Step-over heel kick by Van Dam 1-2-kickout. Triple H hits a high knee 1-2-shoulder up. Tag to Batista.
Clubs across the chest by Batista, then a short-arm clothesline, and another, and another 1-2-broken by Kane. Tag to Triple H. Trips hits an elbow to the back of Van Dam. Trips ducks an enziguri, but Van Dam catches him with the mule kick. Tag to Kane and Batista.
Big boot to Batista, then to Triple H. Sidewalk slam to Batista. Kane clotheslines Triple H out of the ring, then goes up top for a flying clothesline to Batista. Tag to RVD, who goes up top. Kane tosses him across the ring, but Batista rolls out of the way.
On the outside, Flair and Orton start beating away on Kane. Triple H distracts the ref as Batista comes over. Orton and Flair beat on Kane as Batista reaches down and pulls Kane's mask off! Kane stumbles up and runs to the back, leaving Van Dam alone. In the ring, Batista hits Van Dam with the sit-out powerbomb 1-2-3!
Flair, Orton, and Triple H come in as they all start beating on Van Dam. Steiner runs down with the pipe, forcing the group from the ring. Jericho runs down and attacks Steiner from behind, allowing Triple H and company to come back inside. Trips with hard punches to Steiner's face. Flair tosses Hebner from the ring as Triple H goes back to the punches, busting Steiner open. Batista picks up Steiner and hits the sit-out powerbomb. Flair comes over and knees him in the groin before applying the Figure Four. As Flair has the Figure Four, Orton stomps on Steiner's upper-body. Triple H picks up Steiner and hits the Pedigree.
Triple H and company leave the ring, allowing Jericho to come in, pose over Steiner and hit an elbow drop. He does push-ups over Steiner and then applies the Walls of Jericho. End Show.
