We begin with video of last week's Rock Appreciation Night when the Rock was the victim of Goldberg's first WWE Spear. The Raw music video plays, now with a large red X over any scenes involving Steve Austin. Hooray for subtlety! The pyro explodes, and welcomes are issued. Tonight, Triple H and Jericho will take on Booker T and Shawn Michaels. But first...

Trish Stratus vs. Jazz
-Trish Stratus comes out to defend her Women's Title against Jazz. Jazz goes right after Trish, kicking her in the gut and applying a headlock. Shoulder block by Jazz for an early two count. They lock up, and Jazz hits a side belly-back suplex. Clubs to the back by Jazz, then an elbow to the face. Trish kicks Jazz away and starts mounting some offense. She kicks Jazz to the head multiple times, knocking Jazz out of the ring. Trish leaps off the apron with a Lou Thesz Press. Outside, Jazz rams Trish into the apron, then whips her into the barrier. Back in the ring, Jazz pins 1-2-kickout. Jazz wrenches back on Trish's arms and headbutts into her back. Back elbow by Jazz, who goes second rope and hits an ax handle smash. Jazz hits a stalled fisherman's suplex 1-2-hand on the ropes. Jazz lifts Trish up by her knee and flips her over, applying a half crab. She drops to the mat and turns it into an STF as Trish desperately dives for the ropes. Trish starts to come back with punches to the face. Trish ducks under a clothesline and kicks Jazz in the back of the head 1-2-shoulder up. Back elbow by Trish, who backs Jazz into the corner. She 'buckles Jazz and then hurricanranas her off 1-2-shoulder up. Trish hits the Stratusfaction for the 1-2-3! despite the face that Jazz had her foot on the ropes.

In the back, the Rock arrives and immediately enters Bischoff's office. Rock says that what he did at WrestleMania isn't important anymore. Last week, during his Appreciation Night, Bill Goldberg speared the Rock. Who does Goldberg think he is? Bischoff tells him that Goldberg isn't here yet. Rock tells Bischoff that when Goldberg does get here, Rock will call him out to the ring and whoop his ass live. If he wants a confrontation, he'll get it. Rock leaves, and Bischoff smiles. Fade Out.

In the back, Kane and RVD talk about how awesome it is to be Tag Team Champions. Van Dam reminds Kane that everything is cool when you listen to RVD.

In the back, Teddy Long tells Jazz that she was just a victim of bigotry and bias. All she has to do is join he and Rodney Mack, and then she'll realize that when you Back the Mack, the Bitch will be Back. She shakes Long's hand and they walk off.

In the back, Rock sees Trish cooling down from her match. He congratulates her on being Champion. He asks if she is sweaty and wet from just having a match or from thinking about the Rock. She insists that it was from the match. She looks behind him and smiles. Rock says that there isn't anyone she should be looking at besides him. He turns around to find Jeff Hardy. Hardy brings up Goldberg's attack. Rock says that before he calls out Goldberg, he's going to whoop Hardy's candyass. He gives Hardy forty-five minutes to put his paint on and his maxi-pad on and then come to the ring. Fade Out.

Sean Morley vs. Rob Van Dam
-Morley starts by backing RVD into the corner. The ref separates them, but Morley goes right back at it, taking Van Damn down and choking him with his boot. Morley yells at the ref, allowing Van Dam to get in a flurry of clotheslines. Shoulder block by Van Dam, who ducks a cltohesline and hits a bridging German suplex 1-2-shoulder up. Morley holds the ropes and tells the ref to back Van Dam up before he gets up, but Van Dam starts attacking anyway. Morley comes back with a swinging neck breaker and stomps to the back. Vertical suplex, held and another, held and another 1-2-kickout. Van Dam catches Morley with a spining heel kick. Shoulder thrusts by Van Dam, followed with a monkey flip. He hits a low dropkick into Morley's knee, then hits a backflip splash, only to leap out of it and hit Rolling Thunder 1-2-Lance Storm runs down and puts Morley's leg on the ropes. Storm gets on the apron and distracts the ref while Van Dam hits a rolling legscissor that would have gotten a three count. Van Dam kicks him off the apron and goes up top. Storm gets on the apron, so RVD kicks him off and then hits a flying cross body onto him outside. Van Dam goes back into the ring, but Storm grabs his leg, holding him halfway in the ring. Morley grabs the prone RVD and DDTs him 1-2-3! Storm holds Van Dam for some post-match attack, but Van Dam kicks Morley away then low blows Storm and escapes harm. Fade Out.

Chris Nowinski vs. Scott Steiner
-Chris Nowinski comes out to face Scott Steiner, but first he makes a little speech. He says that the belief that American might makes right is exactly what has made us vulnerable. When America goes and attacks a sovereign nation in the name of fighting terrorism, we open ourselves up to more attacks. His name is Chris Nowinski and he is an American. All he is doing is utilizing his right to give his opinions and to give the other side. As the crowd boos Nowinski, Steiner leaps off the apron and clubs Nowinski in the back. He repeatedly whips Nowinski into the barriers. He beats Nowinski onto the ramp and applies the Steiner Recliner. Eventually, Nowinski passes out and Steiner leaves without the match ever having taken place.

In the back, Goldberg arrives. Fade Out.

We get a video package for Goldberg with highlights from his WCW matches, his undefeated streak, and the power of the Spear.

In the back, Christian comes into Rock's room and says he needs a little favor. He asks Rock to sign his Scorpion King DVD. Rock signs the DVD and says that he has something to talk to Christian about. He says that the thing that bothers him about Christian is that he doesn't seize the day. He's got all the tools, but he doesn't take advantage. When you walk into a room, you have to own the room. Seize the day. Do your thing. Christian says that he's going to become a "Born-Again Christian." Rock says that if Christian watches what he does to Jeff Hardy and then what he does to Goldberg, he'll see exactly how to seize the day. Fade Out.

Rock vs. Jeff Hardy
-Rock immediately attacks Hardy, beating him down and making him crawl into the corner. Rock hits a back elbow, but Hardy catches him with a crossbody. Clubs to the back by Hardy, but Rock hits a clothesline. Rock starts to get cocky, allowing Jeff to get in some shots, but Jeff hits a back bodydrop. Suplex by Rock 1-2-kickout. Hardy hits a back elbow and goes second rope for a front dropkick. Exchange of punches. Rock tosses Jeff over the top, but Jeff holds onto the ropes and guillotines Rock. He flips over the turnbuckle and splashes onto Rock. Double legdrop by Jeff, then some clotheslines. Jeff goes for the Whisper in the Wind, but Rock sidesteps and regains the momentum. Jeff floats over Rock and hits a reverse Twist of Fate. He takes his shirt off and hits his own, quite feminine version of the People's Elbow. He goes up top and hits the Swanton Bomb 1-2-shoulder up! Rock staggers up but then quickly hits a DDT and flips back up. He stands in wait as Jeff gets up, only to walk into the Rock Bottom 1-2-3! After the match, Rock catches his breath and takes a microphone. Last week, Goldberg came out and said that Rock was next. Well to that, he says that Goldberg can just bring it.

Golberg's music hits and he comes out and heads straight for the ring. They stand face to face. Rock says that if Goldberg wants to go one-on-one with the Great One at Backlash, he has one thing to say: nah. With that, Rock leaves the ring and stops on the ramp. Christian runs in from the fans, but gets Speared down. Rock runs in and clubs Goldberg in the back, but it doesn't phase him. Goldberg screams, so Rock quickly leaves the ring and goes to the back. Fade Out.

During the break, Terri tried to get an answer from Rock as to why he said no to Goldberg. He repeatedly dismisses the question, then finally gives a one word answer: "Because."

Kane vs. Dudley Boyz (Handicap Match)
-In the arena, Kane comes out, then the Dudleys for this Handicap Match. Kane knocks D-Von away and hits a back suplex on BuhBuh. Sidewalk slam to D-Von 1-2-shoulder up. D-Von hits a diving clothesline, then hits some mounted punches. Tag to BuhBuh, who punches away. Kane comes back with punches, then backs BuhBuh into the corner for some back elbows. Another back elbow by Kane, but D-Von trips him up and wishbones him around the ringpost. BuhBuh hits a two elbow drops 1-2-shoulder up. Tag to D-Von. Clothesline to BuhBuh, then to D-Von, then to BuhBuh again. Back bodydrop to D-Von, then a spinebuster to BuhBuh. Kane goes up top and hits D-Von with the flying clothesline 1-2-broken by BuhBuh. Kane locks in a choke on BuhBuh, then boots D-Von away. He chokes both of them, but the Dudleys duck out and hit the 3D 1-2-3! After the match, D-Von goes to get a table, but RVD runs down and catches him with a spinning heel kick. Van Dam gets in the ring where BuhBuh attacks him. Van Dam hits a springboard side kick. Van Dam goes up top, but Lance Storm runs down and pulls RVD into a guilliontine. Now Storm, Morley and the Dudleys are all in the ring. D-Von hits Kane with a chair to keep him down while Morley hits the Money Shot on RVD. Storm goes up top and dropkicks the chair into RVD's face. They finish the job off with another 3D to Kane.

In the back, Test yells at Goldust for blowing his cover with Stacy. She hasn't given him any for the whole week. So he's going to bring Stacy in and Goldust had better tell her that Test wasn't on the phone with Torrie and that he only has eyes for Stacy. Fade Out. Test brings Stacy in and Goldust says that it was he who was looking at Torrie Wilson's Playboy, not him. Test says that he hasn't even seen a Playboy in his life. Goldust's tick sets in and he says that it is in his duffle bag. Stacy goes in Test's bag, and Test pulls out a copy of WWE magazine. Goldust's tick again sets in and he says that it is a fake cover. Stacy checks, and indeed Torrie's Playboy is inside.

Eric Bischoff Interview
-In the arena, the glass breaks and Austin's music plays. Outside, we see Austin's truck pull into the arena and drive up to the ring. The door opens, and Eric Bischoff appears with a smile on his face and an Austin vest on his back. He climbs out and onto the stage. Bischoff gives Austin a very special hello from everyone at Raw. He knows Austin is watching at home, and Bischoff wants him to know that he misses Austin. The thing he misses most is the look on Austin's face when he fired him. The kicker is that he had no choice but to fire Austin, a washed-up has-been who has hiding his medical condition. The bottom line is that Austin is a liability each time he steps in the ring, and Bischoff couldn't afford to take that risk. Bischoff admits that not everyone agrees with his decision. He asks JR if that's correct. He rolls tape of JR's comments. He says that if JR wants to say those things, he can do it to Bischoff's face. JR gets up and walks over to Bischoff. JR asks if he can have some time to defend himself. JR takes the mic and says that he meant every word he said last week, because Bischoff is one lousy son of a bitch. JR says that Bischoff can take this job and shove it, because he quits! JR walks off and Bischoff, struggling to regain command, says that JR can't quit because he's fired. Fade Out.

Steven Richards vs. Goldust
-Richards starts by beating Goldust into the corner, but Goldust reverses the situation and gets in some shots. Richards pulls Goldust down and stomps on him. Suplex by Richards 1-2-shoulder up. As Richards applies a side headlock, The Coach comes out and joins Lawler for commentating. Richards punches Goldust down, but Goldust clotheslines Richards, then does it again. Uppercut by Goldust, then the thump 1-2-shoulder up. Goldust backs Richards into the corner and tries to set him for the Shattered Dreams, but can't. Goldust applies a dragon sleeper, but Richards floats over and hits a reverse DDT 1-2-shoulder up. Richards goes to the apron and tells Victoria to get her belt. Victoria says she can't find her belt, probably because she lost it at WrestleMania. Goldust catches Richards with the Shock Treatment 1-2-3! After the match, VIctoria brings a chair in and asks Richards if it will do. Richards knocks it away, only for Goldust to knock their heads together.

In the back, Flair gets Jericho and Triple H to bury the hatchet. Jericho says he'll bury Booker T for Triple H, while Trips says he'll make sure that Shawn Michaels never bothers Jericho again. Fade Out.

Booker T & Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H & Chris Jericho
-Booker and HBK get the early advantage as Booker takes Triple H out and Michaels catapults Jericho over the ropes and onto Trips. Inside, Booker fights Triple H, while outside Jericho and MIchaels goe at it. Booker hits the 10 Punch on Triple H for an early two count. Tag to Michaels, who hits a leaping smash. Shoulder thrusts by Michaels, but Trips uppercuts him. Tag to Jericho. Michaels immediately armdrags Jericho down. Jericho hits a club to the back and tags in Triple H. Trips kicks away on Michaels in the corner, but Booker attacks him from behind. Michaels hits Trips with a diving forearm, and calls for an early end. He sets for Sweet Chin Music, but Jericho runs in. Michaels knocks Jericho out, but this allows Trips to duck the kick. He goes for a Pedigree, but Michaels escapes. Michaels runs the ropes, but Flair pulls the ropes down, causing Michaels to fly out of the ring. We cut to the garage, where a limo pulls up. *dun dun dun* Fade Out.

Booker T & Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H & Chris Jericho
-As we return, Triple H is taking it to Shawn Michaels, only for Booker T to break up the pin. Tag to Jericho. Flair distracts the ref while Jericho chokes Michaels with a cord. Elbow drops by Jericho 1-2-kickout. Jericho chokes Michaels in the corner, but the ref breaks it up. Jericho hits a springboard crossbody, but it's not enough to keep Jericho from tagging in Triple H. Exchange of punches, then Trips locks in a sleeper. Michaels is able to reverse positions and lock in the sleeper on Trips, but a tag to Jericho keeps Michaels on the defensive. Jericho beats Michaels into the corner, but HBK starts fighting out. Jericho catches him with a spinning heel kick. Bulldog by Jericho, followed with the Lionsault, but Michaels gets his knees up. Both men crawl towards their corners and make tags. Booker punches away on Trips with shot after shot, then a forearm strike. Chops by Booker, followed with a back bodydrop. Spinning heel kick by Booker 1-2-kickout. Chops by Booker, then a DDT 1-2-shoulder up. Jericho comes in, but Booker back bodydrops him. Spinebuster to Triple H 1-2-shoulder up. Booker tosses Jericho out of the ring, then clotheslines Triple H to the outside as well. Booker takes this time to hit a Spinaroonie in the empty ring. Jericho goes up top and leaps, but Booker catches him with a fist to the gut. Trips gets on the apron, so Booker knocks him off, but this allows Jericho to catch Booker in the Walls of Jericho. Michaels pops in and nails Jericho with some Sweet Chin Music, but Trips knocks MIchaels out. Trips goes for a Pedigree on Booker, but Booker flips over, pinning Triple H 1-2-3! Flair immediately runs in and takes out Booker. They back Booker into the corner and smash his leg. Michaels takes out Flair, but the Triple H beats him away until Jericho can catch him with a chairshot. Jericho pulls out his handcuffs and they lock Michaels to the ropes. The Hurricane runs down to help out, but the combination of Flair, Jericho and Triple H is too much. The drums sound, and Kevin Nash comes down the ramp! Nash slowly but surely gets into the ring. Triple H tries to call his men off, but Jericho runs at him, only to receive a Big Boot. Flair gets one too. Nash picks up Jericho and rams him into the turnbuckles. He takes out Flair and then hits Jericho with the Jacknife. Nash picks up the chair in the ring and turns to find that Triple H has come in with a sledgehammer. They stare each other down, and Trips drops his hammer and slowly back out of the ring and up the ramp. End Show.
