We open with video from last week’s show. Raw’s Main Event saw Kane challenging HHH for the World Championship. Stipulation in place: If Kane lost he’d be forced to unmask. Match went on as scheduled, HHH got the win to retain with loads of help from his Evolution faction cronies Ric Flair and Randy Orton. Post-match Raw co-General Manager Eric Bischoff made his only appearance of the night and ordered Kane to remove his mask. Big Red made to comply-until attacked by all 3 Evolution members, who seemed determined to unmask Kane themselves. Save was made by Kane’s former tag partner Rob Van Dam. Evolution was cleared from the ring, and Kane eventually removed his mask as Rob looked on. Most of Kane’s hair went with the mask-his face (which J.R. and the King described as hideous) looked to me like The Undertaker with streaked mascara and a self-inflicted haircut. Regardless, Kane vented his rage by hitting Rob with a chokeslam.

Let’s do this…

Pyros go, No J.R. or King, looks like we’re opening with Chris Jericho and an edition of his ‘Highlight Reel’. After some mocking of Kane Y2J announces his guest tonight is all about beauty, not ugliness-Miss Stacy Keibler. Sirens hit-looks like Chris is getting to chat with Scott Steiner as well as Stacy. Jericho NOT happy, he tells Big Poppa to hit the bricks-nope, sorry, not gonna happen. Chris relents, hits on Stacy, shows us pictures from her recent ‘Stuff’ magazine spread on his Jeritron 5000-very nice. Chris urges Stacy to dump Scott in favor of himself-Stacy puts in in his place with a rather predictable small penis reference. Chris is infuriated, invites his next guest to the ring-Test, Stacy’s former client/boyfriend. Test charges in, brief brawl finds both he and Chris sent packing up the entry ramp. Bischoff then appears atop the stage to announce he’s running the show solo tonight-his partner Stone Cold Steve Austin has the night off (no reason given, J.R would later announce the Rattler was out with a stomach bug). His next announcement-later on Stacy and Scott will take on Test and Jericho. Canadians are all smiles as we go to break

Slam of the Week: From 2 weeks ago, Stone Cold nearly drives Lance Storm insane by leading the crowd in a ‘BORING’ chant while he competed in a match with Garrison Cade.

Back, Lance is in the ring insisting he’s not boring-crowd thinks otherwise. Bill Goldberg’s music hits, the former WCW Champion walks to the ring-only to be attacked from behind by Rodney Mack. Lance stands aside as the 2 go at it in the ring, Rodney quickly goes down to the spear. Lance wisely gets the hell out of there as Goldberg hits the apparently-dead Rodney with the jackhammer.

We cut backstage-Bischoff is talking with Kane (latter has his back to the camera and a towel over his head). Eric tries to convince Kane Rob Van Dam goaded him into introducing the unmasking stipulation into last week’s match. Kane keeps silent. Eric continues, tries to convince Kane to go talk to the fans about his situation. Kane shakes his head no. Eric offers another shot at Hunter’s World Championship. Kane again shakes his head. Infuriated, Eric announces he’s giving RVD the title shot. Further, Kane WILL make an appearance for the fans later on-or be fired.

We’re informed later on Booker T will get another shot at Christian’s Intercontinental Championship.

Trish Stratus makes her way to the ring-J.R. announces a 7-woman over-the-top Battle Royal for the Women’s Championship will take place after we break.

Back, Ivory, Molly Holly, Jacqueline and Victoria have joined Trish in the ring. Next out is Gail Kim, making her WWE debut. Last is current Women’s Champion Jazz. Bell rings, trying any detail in calling this chaotic match would take all night, here’s the order of elimination.

1. Ivory.
2. Jazz (who appeared to be genuinely hurt by a kick from Victoria. She never went over the top and had to be carried backstage).
3. Molly Holly.
4. Jacqueline.
5. Trish Stratus.
6. Victoria.
Gail Kim remains in the ring and is our new Women’s Champion. Break.

Next up: Booker T challenges Christian for the Intercontinental Championship. Christian attacks before the Book can enter, they brawl through the crowd as we go to break.
Back, J.R. announces the bell rang during the break, Christian appears to be in complete control. Booker mounts a comeback after Christian botches a move off the top. End sees Christian hitting Booker with a top rope superplex-but on hitting the mat Book grabbed Christian’s legs and got his shoulders to the mat for a 3 count from referee Nick Patrick. Booker T is our new Intercontinental Champion…
Not so fast-Bischoff makes his way down the ramp and calls for a replay on the Titantron. He points out that both men’s shoulders were down during the 3 count and rules the match a draw. Christian retains the IC title, crowd NOT happy with the ‘Dusty Finish’.
We cut backstage, where RVD chastises Kane for passing on a re-match with HHH and for chokeslamming him last week (Kane’s face remains unseen). Rob admits he lobbied with Bischoff regarding the unmasking stipulation, states the fans will accept him without it. Kane finally speaks, quote, ‘No they won’t. I HATE the fans’. Rob voices his hope Kane won’t hate him after he wins the World title. After he leaves Kane says ‘I do hate you Rob.’ Break.

Back, Chris Jericho and Test face Scott Steiner and Stacy Keibler. Bell rings, Scott (quite obviously) tries to go it alone as Test and Y2J tag in and out freely. End sees Chris attempting to toss the ref out of the ring, drawing the DQ.
Not so fast one more time. Bischoff again appears, this time to re-start the match as a no-DQ affair. After about a minute Scott goes down to a chair shot from Chris, Test gets the win for his team, pinning Stacy after a cringe-inducing pumphandle slam. Break.

Wrestlemania Recall: From WM11, NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor gets a miracle win over Bam Bam Bigelow.

J.R. and the King return-we get footage filmed during the break of Big Poppa carrying the seemingly unconscious Stacy from the ring.

Next match: Rico, with Miss Jackie (Gayda), vs. Maven. Comedy match, Rico now appears to be the progeny of an unholy union between Gorgeous George and Adorable Adrian Adonis. Jackie interferes a bit, end sees Rico pinning Maven after a spinning heel kick. Break.

Extreme Blast of the Night: From last week, Ric Flair and Randy Orton lay a massive beatdown on Mick Foley.

Next match: Randy Orton, with Ric Flair, faces Tommy Dreamer. Bell rings, extended ringside brawl to start. Match moves inside, Tommy appeared to have the match won with a DDT when Ric draped Randy’s leg over the rope before the count of 3. Tommy went after Ric after grabbing a kendo stick from beneath the ring, Ric rolled in, Tommy followed, Ric ducked the cane shot, Randy quickly hit Tommy with his modified Diamond Cutter (referred to by J.R. as the RKO) and got the 1-2-3. Post-match Randy treats Tommy to kendo stick shots as Ric applies the Figure-4.

In the back, Eric tries to chat with RVD about his upcoming title match. Rob doesn’t appear all that enthused, he’s rather pissed about Bischoff trying to exploit Kane in order to pop a TV rating. Eric reminds Rob he’s partially responsible for Kane’s unmasking and tells him to take out his aggression on Hunter. Rob warily agrees and we go to break.

Back, Bischoff tells Terri to go interview Kane. After the expected ‘do it or get fired’ bit she very reluctantly agrees.

World Tag Team Champions Sylvan Grenier and René Dupree (La Resistance) make their way to the ring for a non-title match. Their opponents, The Hurricane and Spike Dudley, follow-no cheap heat promo tonight. Bell rings, just a match, Sylvan pins Spike after a double team spinebuster.

In the back, Terri enters the darkened room Kane’s been hanging out in all night. No interview, the (former?) Big Red Machine is nowhere in sight. Break.

Main Event: Rob Van Dam challenges HHH (flying solo, surprisingly) for the World Championship. Hunter attacks as the bell rings, takes control, crowd FINALLY shows signs of life when Rob goes on offense. Action moves outside, RVD hits HHH with a top rope moonsault, both men are down as we see Flair making his way to the ring. Final break.

Back, action has moved back into the ring, Ric makes his presence felt as HHH takes control with chop blocks to Rob’s legs. Crowd appears to be back to napping as Hunter goes for an Indian Deathlock. Rob finally makes the ropes, break is called for, Hunter immediately goes back to work on the legs with a Figure-4. Rob reverses, HHH quickly makes the ropes, another break is called for. Rob makes the comeback, gets a near fall broken up by Flair. RVD disposes of Flair and eventually hits Hunter with the 5 Star Frog Splash. Cover is made and broken when Flair enters and nails Rob with a chair. Ref calls for the DQ, Bischoff appears atop the stage to issue another no-DQ restart. Action moves outside, Rob counters a HHH chair shot with the Van Daminator. RVD tries to get Hunter back in the ring to go for a pinfall-Eric ups the ante, makes the match ‘no countouts, falls count anywhere’. Match gets yet more chaotic as Randy Orton joins in. Hunter tries to bail up the ramp, Rob follows, backdrops out of a Pedigree and hits HHH with Rolling Thunder. Hunter kicks out at 2 as Randy and Ric come to his aid. After hitting Rob with a belt shot Hunter gets the win a scary looking DDT.

Kane makes his entrance, head still covered by the towel. The Evolution faction retreat down the ramp as the towel is removed-Kane’s head is now completely shaved, will readily admit he now looks rather scary. Kane grabs Rob by the throat-then releases him. Kane then grabs Bischoff and chokeslams him off the stage. Close-up of Kane ends the show.
