WWE RAW report for 9/29/03

Hello again everyone and WELcome to YOUR rajah.com RAW report. I am your host Jason (Jason_of_RajahWWF on Yahoo Messenger), let's get started...

The music plays (by the way, how much better is the Smackdown opening than the RAW one?), the pyro blazes and we are LIVE from the MCA Center in Chicago, Illinois. Jonathan Coachman and Al Snow will have the call (at least for now) as toNIGHT Christian will defend the IC title against Rob Van Dam in a Ladder Match and Goldberg will team with Shawn Michaels to take on Evolution's Ric Flair and Randy Orton. But first...

Chris Jericho's Highlight Reel
-Footage from last week shows us Stone Cold Steve Austin aiding Goldberg in the champ's World Heavyweight Championship title defense against Y2J. Jericho intros his guest RAW Co-General Manager Eric Bischoff. Bischoff wastes no time in announcing that the WWE board of directors has suspended Stone Cold Steve Austin for one week for his unprovoked attack on Bischoff last Monday. Jericho thinks the suspension doesn't go far enough since Austin cost him his match with Goldberg last week. Jericho doesn't know who makes him sicker, Austin or his guest tonight (I guess Bischoff isn't his official guest), good ol' JR. Jim Ross comes out and makes his way to the ring to face Jericho and Bischoff. Bischoff says since Steve Austin made Ross's match with The Coach for tonight, it's only fair that Coachman choose what kind of match it should be. Coachman stands up and says he wants to make the match a "Country Whipping Match" (your guess is as good as mine, folks). Jericho takes the opportunity to mock the back injuries Ross suffered at the hands of Kane a few months ago. Bischoff taunts JR and he and Ross get a little pushy with each other, but Jericho gets between them. Bischoff knows that, as Co-GM, he can't touch any of the WWE talent...but Jericho can. Kick to the gut! Walls of Jericho on JR! Y2J keeps the hold on for several moments before...CRASH! Here comes the suspended Stone Cold Steve Austin. Austin storms the ring as Jericho and Bischoff flee. Austin kicks parts of the set over as Bischoff orders security to escort him from the arena. Two security guards go to the ring to remove Austin and of course he attacks them after saying he can leave on his own.

Outside the building, a line of police officers keeps Stone Cold Steve Austin from entering the arena.

The Dudley Boyz vs. Test & Scott Steiner w/Stacy Keibler for the World Tag Team Championship
-Test won't allow Stacy in the ring before the match. Test orders Steiner to start the match with Bubba Ray, but Scott immediately tags Test in. Bubba wastes no time attacking Test with jabs, but Test clotheslines him down. Test goes to tag Steiner, but Scott refuses the tag and Bubba rolls Test up for two from referee Nick Patrick. Tag to D-Von. The Dudleys go for Whazzzup, but Test breaks it up and sends Bubba out of the ring. Pump handle slam to D-Von. 1-2-Test is pulled out by Steiner. Test jaws at his alleged partner and then goes out to chase Lillian Garcia off her chair. Test looks to use the chair on D-Von, but Stacy strips him of it from behind. Test shoves Stacy down and is in turn nailed by Steiner. The Dudleys regroup and nail Steiner with a modified reverse 3-D. Steiner rolls out and Test drops both Dudleys with a double clothesline. Test looks for Big Boot, but Stacy brains him with the chair. 3-D! The Dudleys gets the 1-2-3 at 2:46 in their first title defense.
-HERE are YOUR Winners and STILL World Tag Team Champions: The Dudley Boyz

Test gets in Stacy's face after the match, but Steiner nails him with a clothesline. Steiner tells Stacy not to ask Test for forgiveness, but since she's cost him his match at Unforgiven, his freedom and now the World Tag Team Titles...he doesn't forgive her. Belly-to-belly suplex! Steiner's gone heel as The Coach and Snow are appalled.

During the break, referees and the trainer helped Stacy Keibler to the back.

Coachman tells us former World Heavyweight Champion Triple H will have a "major announcement" later tonight.

Kane Interview
Big Red comes on down and takes the stick. Kane is glad for everything he's done to Shane McMahon and Shane's right, it's not over between them. As long as...STAND BACK! There's a Hurricane Coming Through! The Hurricane appears on stage and asks Kane if he remembers...this. The TitanTron shows footage of Kane & The Hurricane winning the World Tag Team Championship last year. Kane's gone from fan favorite to monster in less than a year...Whatsupwidat?! Kane says The Hurricane represents everything Kane used to hate about himself and he challenges Hurricane to a match. Our Hero declines and Kane begins to search the arena for a suitable opponent. He settles on a 10-year old kid sitting at ringside who happens to be wearing a Hurrimask. Did the kid's parents ever tell him there're no such things at monsters? Well guess what, they lied! Kane goes out after the kid, but The Hurricane gets him off. Kane quickly gets the advantage and tosses Our Hero into the ring. Kane goes for the chokeslam, but S.H.I.T. Rosey makes the save. Kane turns on Rosey, but Hurricane recovers and the heroes drive Kane from the ring.

Earlier tonight, Maven watches Mark Jindrak and Garrison Cade play WrestleMania XIX for Game Cube. La Resistance and Rob Conway interrupt and, after a little back-and-forth, we have...

La Resistance & Rob Conway vs. Maven, Mark Jindrak & Garrison Cade in a Six-Man Tag Team Match
-The faces charge the ring and we have a typical six-man brawl until it settles into Cade and Dupree in the ring. Punches by Rene and a tag to Conway. Conway controls Cade with a clothesline and Dupree tags back in. Cade scores a sunset flip, but Dupree manages to make the tag before going over and there's no count. Conway works a neck vise on Cade, but Garrison jawjacks his way out. Hey, I notice The Coach and Al Snow actually talk about the match that's going on in the ring. That's novel on RAW. Cade tries to get to his corner, but Dupree and Grenier cut him off. Cade escapes from Conway and makes the tag to Maven. Maven enters with a flurry, but he's soon corraled by Conway and Dupree and now all six guys are back in there. Maven scores his halo DDT on Dupree, but doesn't go for the cover. La Resistance nail Maven with their finisher, but Jindrak drives Grenier to the outside. Jindrak scores an arm drag off the top and then teams with Cade for their finisher for the 1-2-3 at 3:45.
-HERE are YOUR Winners: Mark Jindrak, Garrison Cade & Maven

Commercial

Outside the arena, Stone Cold Steve Austin continues to taunt the cops as Rob Van Dam comes up. He thanks Austin for his IC Ladder Match. RVD leaves as a guy I don't recognize comes up and says he's really excited to meet Austin. He even bought a ticket to come with his son to see Austin in person. Bought a ticket, you say? Come on over here and talk to Stone Cold for a second...

Meanwhile in the arena, The Coach throws to Triple H, who is presumably in the WWE studios in Stamford. Triple H congratulates Goldberg on his World Heavyweight Championship victory and hopes Goldberg realizes that everything changes when you become champion. With that in mind, Hunter opens a briefcase that contains $100,000 of his own money. He offers the money as a bounty on Goldberg's head. The hundred large goes to anyone, man or woman, who can put Goldberg on the shelf.

At the announce table, Coachman readies his country whip (a strap) for battle. In the back, Jim Ross does the same. Can you feel the excitement?

Commercial

Jonathan Coachman vs. Jim Ross in a Country Whipping Match
-Is it possible for both guys to lose this match? Basically this is a regular match, but the leather straps are legal. Senior referee Earl Hebner goes over the rules with both men as CHRIS JERICHO comes out and joins Snow on commentary. Ross whips the heck out of Coach at the start and Coachman retreats to the outside. Coach tries to get back in but Ross's strap keeps him at bay. Coach jaws at the fans and JR goes out to whip him from behind. Coach flees and crawls into the ring as Ross uses the steps. LOL, Jericho says Coach's speed reminds him of a young Tito Santana. Coach finally gets a few whips in and they really take their toll on the scarred back of JR. Coach takes his time, measuring Ross with each whip of the strap. Referee Hebner asks if JR wants to give it up, but nothing doing. Coach starts to pull Ross's jersey up to really lay the shots in when Ross goes low. JR gets up, rips Coach's shirt off and starts whipping (nice image in 2003 America, guys). ERIC BISCHOFF runs to the ring to lend a hand, but he gets the whip from Ross as well. Coach tries to come in from behind, but JR delivers the Stone Cold Stunner of all things. Ross slowly makes the cover for the 1-2-3 at 4:45. Whatever.
-HERE is YOUR Winner: Jim Ross

Jerry "The King" Lawler immediately runs down to the ring to celebrate with Ross as Stone Cold Steve Austin comes through the crowd with his newly finagled ticket. Austin gets into the ring (I didn't know a ticket allowed you to do that) and drinks with JR and The King.

Commercial

WrestleMania Recall: At WM XIV, Butterbean nearly kills Bart Gunn in a Brawl For All.

Jim Ross and Jerry "The King" Lawler have assumed control of the broadcast. They intro a clip of WrestleMania XX tickets going on sale (and selling out) at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Lita Interview
-Terri is in the ring to conduct this one. She introduces Lita and Amy comes on down. Lita hits the corners and settles in with Terri for the interview. Terri plugs Lita's new autobiography before asking Lita how it feels to be back. Lita says hi to the fans and says she's past her broken neck. Like it or not, she's back. And no one is going to stop her from...here come Molly Holly and Gail Kim. Lawler says something about puppies and I ache for Coach and Snow. Molly takes the stick in disgust. Trish Stratus gets a DVD? Lita gets a book? Where's Gail's DVD? Where's Molly's book? Molly's the Women's Champion for crying out loud. Kim gets the drop on Lita and the heels hammer away until Trish Stratus comes out for the save. The faces have the advantage until Victoria storms the ring. Widow's Peak to Trish. Double DDT to Lita by Molly and Gail. Molly stands over the KO'd Lita and rips her book up before leaving with Gail and Victoria. Good, Christianesque mic work by Molly in that segment, by the way.

Commercial

WWE Extreme Blast of the Night: Last week on RAW, Kane ambushes Shane McMahon in an "undisclosed" location.

Kane vs. The Hurricane
-This is obviously as a result of what happened earlier. Eric Bischoff has banned all outside parties from ringside for this match. Hurricane fakes Kane out of the ring at the bell and then dives out after him off the top. Kane throws Hurricane back in and gets the Shining Wizard for his troubles for two from referee Jack Doan. Kane quickly resumes control and scores the chokeslam for the 1-2-3 at an even 1:00.
-HERE is YOUR Winner: Kane

Kane adds a second chokeslam after the bell for fun.

In the back, Marc Loyd asks Goldberg about Triple H's $100,000 bounty. Can Goldberg trust Shawn Michaels, his tag partner for tonight? Goldberg has nothing but respect for Shawn Michaels, but if anyone tries to collect on the bounty, he will take them out. As if on cue, Steven Richards attacks Goldberg from behind but is quickly knocked cold by a Goldberg right hand.

Commercial

Randy Orton & Ric Flair vs. Shawn Michaels & Goldberg
-Goldberg and Flair will start. Goldberg shoves Flair into the corner out of the tie-up. Flair goes for a top wristlock. Orton comes in to add extra leverage, but Goldberg shoves them both down. Tag to Michaels. HBK delivers right hands to both opponents and delivers a backdrop to Flair. Flair goes out and Orton goes at it with Michaels. Orton blocks Sweet Chin Music and works the over-the-hip back breaker. Orton hammers away on Michaels' back and tags Flair. Chops and Whoooos in the corner and HBK is down with a drop toehold. Flair keeps Michaels from making the tag and spits at Goldberg for good measure. Tag to Orton, who delivers a nice standing dropkick for one from senior referee Earl Hebner. HBK counters a slam and goes for a roll-up, but Orton makes a blind tag and Flair attacks Michaels. Flair with chops against the ropes. Flair styles and profile, but HBK kips up and nails him. Tag to Orton. Tag to Goldberg. Big backdrops to both heels. Goldberg press slams Orton and Spears Flair. Michaels nails Orton with Sweet Chin Music and they tumble to the outside. Goldberg measures Flair, but RODNEY MACK appears in the ring and nails Goldberg with a chair at 5:46.
-HERE are YOUR Winners as the result of a Disqualification: Goldberg & Shawn Michaels

Goldberg Spears Mack after the bell as Mark Henry and Theodore Long arrive at ringside. Henry attacks Michaels as Goldberg sets Mack up for the Jackhammer. Goldberg drills Mack, but Henry has bloodied Michaels on the outside and viciously drives HBK's knees into the steel steps. Henry drags Michaels' carcass up the ramp by one leg and stand over him while making the money sign with his fingers at Goldberg in the ring. Goldberg stops trying to pull Teddy Long into the ring and has a staredown with Henry.

Commercial

In the back, Teddy Long praises Mark Henry for what he just did. Henry has sent message to Goldberg and here's another one...The World's Strongest Man challenges Goldberg for next week. Buhleedat, playuh!

Ross and Lawler put Henry over on commentary and then intro a video package of the Hollywood Premiere of "The Rundown" starring The Rock.

In the back, Christian heads for the arena, passing the banged-up Lita and Trish Stratus along the way.

Commercial

WWE Rewind: On RAW last week, Christian gets himself intentionally DQ'd in his title match with Rob Van Dam.

Rob Van Dam vs. Christian in a Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Championship
-The principles jaw at each other about the belt suspended above their heads at the bell before Christian attacks. RVD assumes control quickly and scores with a spinning heel kick. Van Dam goes out for a ladder but Christian meets him on the outside with a right hand. Christian slams RVD's head into the ring apron and looks to bring the ladder into the ring, but Van Dam rolls in and baseball slides it into his face. Van Dam hits the ropes and goes out over the top with a somersault plancha than wipes Christian out. Both men slowly get up and Christian jabs a thumb into RVD's eye. Christian sets a ladder up across the ringside steps as Ross talks about Triple H's bounty on Goldberg. Paging Jonathan Coachman...or Marc Loyd...or anyone. Christian tries to suplex RVD onto the ladder he set up, but Van Dam reverses and scores the spinning guillotine legdrop off the guard rail. Van Dam flips Christian back in and sets a ladder up in the corner. Christian reverses a whip and sends RVD hard into the corner ladder. Christian sets the ladder up across the middle rope in the corner and slingshots Van Dam's face into it. Christian sets the ladder up in the middle of the ring and starts climbing, but RVD shoves the ladder over. Van Dam catches Christian coming in, military presses him, drops him on the ladder and immediately follows with a back flip splash. Nice spot. Van Dam rams Christian out of the ring with the ladder and then sets the ladder up in the center. Van Dam almost makes it to the belt but Christian catches him from behind and brings him back to the mat with an inverted DDT. Christian slowly to his feet. He sets the ladder up in the corner and looks to whip RVD into it, but Van Dam reverses and monkey flips Christian into it instead. Rolling Thunder on the ladder! Van Dam sets the ladder up off center near the corner and drops the spinning leg on Christian. Van Dam climbs the ladder, but Christian pulls his legs out from under him. Christian retrieves another ladder, but Van Dam dropkicks it into the champion's face. Christian lands lying across the ladder. Van Dam dashes to the top and goes for the Five Star, but Christian dodges and RVD finds nothing but steel. Christian swats Van Dam to the outside with the ladder and sets the ladder up in the middle of the ring. Christian slowly climbs to the top, but Van Dam manages to regain the ring and grab his leg. Christian kicks Van Dam away and reaches for the belt, but Van Dam comes off the top and dropkicks the ladder down. Christian lands face first on the ladder and both men are down. They slowly rise and climb opposite sides of the ladder and battle it out. The ladder tips over and they both bail. Van Dam leaps to the ladder he set up earlier near the corner, but Christian hits the ropes and is knocked back to the middle of the ring. Van Dam climbs to the very top of the ladder he's on and delivers a massive Five Star Frog Splash. Van Dam sets the ladder up so that it straddles Christian, pinning him to the mat. RVD climbs to the top of the ladder and captures the belt at 13:40 to win the match and the title. Great match.
-HERE is YOUR Winner and NEW Intercontinental Champion: Rob Van Dam
