- Backstage, Paul Heyman drops the Undertaker a visit saying that the tag team match tonight was all his idea. Taker tells Heyman that he better hope that he loses on Sunday because he has a tendency of making people famous, usually by making them disappear. Heyman says that they're getting ahead of themselves and touches Taker's, who then responds by warning Heyman never to touch him again.
Vince McMahon Interview
- Live in the ring, the nWo music hits but instead of the group coming out, it's Vince McMahon who makes his way to the ring presumably for an interview. McMahon says "you're all probably wondering why I came out to the nWo music" and then goes on to say that maybe the fans wanted to hear it one last time and "you just did". This was the last time the nWo music will be heard. The nWo is now history, the nWo era is now history no different than many other preceding eras in WWE history, including the Buddy Rogers era, the Bruno Sammartino era, the Pedro Morales era, the Superstar Billy Graham era, the Hulk Hogan era, the Ultimate Warrior era, the Bret "Hitman" Hart era and most recently, the Stone Cold Steve Austin era. During each of these era, WWE changed with the times and so too today, they must change with the times. Crowd starts chanting asshole and Vince asks for some respect. Vince goes on to say that very soon, WWE will celebrate the 500th episode but right now, it's time to shake up RAW and Smackdown!, time to shake up the entire brand. Vince says he's hired two new general managers - one for RAW and one for Smackdown!, both of whom will have full authorization and Vince's support. Within the next hour, Vince says he will name the new GM for RAW. It's someone who won't back down from adversity and someone who will take RAW to great heights. This GM will give all the fans of WWE what they truly want and truly deserve. Vince thanks the fans and leaves.
- Backstage, we see the entire RAW roster huddled around a TV watching the happenings and talking amongst themselves over the prospective of having a new "boss".- Backstage, Terri talks to Ric Flair about Vince's huge announcement and asks him to speculate on who the new GM may be. Flair says that he doesn't care to speculate, but running RAW is a thankless job and he doesn't think anyone not named McMahon can do it.
Jeff Hardy, Bubba Ray & Spike Dudley vs. William Regal, Chris Benoit & Eddie Guerrero [Elimination Match]
- Before the match starts, it is announced that on Sunday at Vengeance, Bubba and Spike will team up to take on Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit in a tables match. Everyone starts brawling but Spike and Eddie are left in the ring, with Spike getting the better of the exchange. Eddie fights back with a suplex, but it's countered into a neck breaker. Spike continues to get the upperhand, but out of nowhere, Eddie rolls up Spike and eliminates him. Bubba enters the Bubba bombs Eddie but Regal makes the save. Tag to Benoit and he tussles with Bubba on the mat and in the corner, where he receives a couple chops from Bubba. Bubba gets distracted with Regal, allowing Benoit to nail him with a suplex before a tag out to Regal. Regal knocks down Bubba and attempts a pin but Bubba kicks out so Regal changes gears and backs him into the corner where he punches away. Irish whip to the other side but Bubba counters into a back body drop, followed by an elbow and a pin, which draws Benoit in. Eddie come charging in as well, but Bubba handles both of them. Tag to Jeff Hardy who hits Bubba but chaos ensues as Eddie and Benoit return from the outside. Jeff is now isolated in the corner with Guerrero hammering away on him. Suplex by Guerrero and a cover, but Hardy kicks out. Tag back to Regal who continues the assault but runs into a high cross body which doesn't go anywhere. Regal back in control but he quickly tags Benoit who hits a suplex and tries it again, but Jeff counters it in mid-air and gets a cover out of it. Benoit recovers and drags Jeff back in the corner for more isolated domination, this time courtesy of Eddie Guerrero. Regal in with a double underhook suplex but Bubba interferes for the save, allowing Jeff to catch Regal with a dropkick knocking both guys out. Eddie interferes out of nowhere, so the ref sends him back out but it allows Regal to capitalize with a suplex. Jeff fights back though and again, Eddie interferes. On the outside, Benoit hands Regal the Euro title with the ref distracted, but Bubba takes it away and hits Regal with it instead. The ref sees him and DQs him, but Jeff heads to the top, hits the Swanton Bomb and eliminates Regal. They cut to a commercial right here. We return to see Benoit and Eddie double team Jeff with Benoit being the legal man. Quick tag brings in Eddie who finds himself in a pinning predicament, which results in him getting eliminated! It' down to Benoit and Jeff, but Guerrero sticks around to continue the double teaming. Jeff escapes any serious damage and sends Guerrero out, but Benoit seizes the opportunity to hit a German suplex. Match proceeds until Jeff hits the Whisper in the Wind, knocking both men out. The ref starts the count, but Guerrero comes back, causing the ref to divert his attention there. Regal sneaks into the ring and hits Jeff with the brass knuckles I believe and the ref heads back just as Benoit stumbles on top of Jeff. Crippler Crossface in the center of the ring, Jeff passes out and is eliminated. Winner: Chris Benoit.
- After the match, Eddie Guerrero runs back to the ring and with Benoit, the two set up a table. They pick up Jieff, but from the back, the Dudleys come charging down causing Benoit and Guerrero to scamper away.- Backstage, Jonathan Coachman is waiting outside Mr. McMahon's lockerroom saying he wants to get a word with Vince about the new RAW owner. Coach says there has been a lot of speculation, including names such as Mick Foley and Rob McMahon, Vince's brother. Paul Heyman then approaches the area and Coach relates that Heyman is also one of the rumored candidates. Heyman barges into the dressing room and soon thereafter, a woman walks in and says that "he" (the new RAW GM) has arrived. Vince tells Heyman to leave and then takes a deep breath.
- Backstage, Vince gets ready to meet the new GM, when Shane McMahon walks in. Vince asks him what the hell he is doing here, he's not the new general manager! Shane says no, he isn't, but he's here to prevent Vince from making the single biggest mistake in his life. Vince questions Shane's motives because just last year, he was trying to run Vince out of business. Shane responds by saying at least in that case it was family. The man who he is going to pick as the GM is a parasite and he will destroy WWE (my guess: Eric Bischoff). Vince ignores Shane's warnings.
- Backstage, Tommy Dreamer meets up with Rob Van Dam and they talk about last week. RVD says that Heyman deserved what he got last year, and he had it coming for years. He just hopes he can do the same thing to Brock Lesnar at Vengeance. RVD then leaves to get ready for his match. Stevie Richards then comes into the lockerroom and says that it was nice to see him stand up to Heyman last week, but deep down he knows he did it only for himself. Richards then challenges Dreamer to a Singapore Cane match, no rules - just brutality. Before Dreamer can accept, Goldust comes in and says that it's an offer to good to be true. Dreamer and Richards laugh but then Richards nails Tommy with a cheapshot with one of his canes.
Steven Richards vs. Tommy Dreamer [Singapore Cane Match]
- The match immediately shifts to the outside where Dreamer tries to use the steel steps, but Richards nails Dreamer with his Singapore cane, a couple of times. On the ramp, Richards, suplexes Dreamer before sending him into the ring. Richards kicks away and steps on Dreamer's throat, busting Tommy open. Stevie then uses the cane to further choke Dreamer with. Richards then sets up the cane in the corner and throws Dreamer into it, before grabbing another cane and hitting him over the back with it. Dreamer's face is a bloody mess but he refuses to give up, hitting Stevie with a side Russian leg sweep. Dreamer than grabs the Singapore cane and hits Richards in the leg with it. He tries to hit again, but Richards ducks attempts the Stevie Kick, but Tommy avoids that and hits a DDT, which gets a two count. From the top rope, Dreamer tries to hit Stevie with another cane shot, but gets caught with a Stevie Kick on the way down, but it only gets two. As they both get up, Dreamer hits Richards over the head with another cane and this finally ends the match. Winner: Tommy Dreamer
- Backstage, Booker T is approached by the Coach who asks him about the match with the Big Show. Booker says that when Shawn Michaels came back, he kicked him right in the face and the nWo just stood there celebrating and cheering. But now, one month later, the nWo is gone so he feels like celebrating. He asks Coach if he wants to join him, but Coach appears a bit hesitant. Booker asks him to give him a Coacharoonie but Coach says that he shouldn't. Coach finally ends up doing a lousy imitation of the Spinaroonie, prompting Booker to ask him what the hell that was. Booker T asks him if he's sure that he's black. Booker T ends the interview by saying that you don't put your hands on the five-time WCW champ and before he can finish his catchphrase, Eric Bischoff comes in and shakes Booker's hand. Booker T asks Coach to tell him he didn't just say that.
Eric Bischoff Interview
- Vince McMahon comes out and introduces Eric Bischoff to the audience. The two hug, shake hands and raise each others' hands. Bischoff struts down to the ring, blowing kisses while Vince departs. Bischoff grabs a mic and lets us know that he used to run the old WCW, not the watered down version that invaded the former WWF. Bischoff says that when Vince talked about "ruthless aggression", who do you think he was talking about? Bischoff claims that he personifies ruthless aggression, he used to sign all the old WWF wrestlers just because he could. He took the little family business ran by the McMahons and gave it a kick in the crotch. When Vince McMahon was on trial with the government, he raided his company. And for those people who say that he was successful only because of Ted Turner's money, he has news for them - he was innovative. He reminds us of the time when RAW was taped and he used to go on NITRO two minutes before airtime and give away the results so people didn't have to watch RAW. He then talks about how he made Alundra Blayze show up on NITRO and throw the WWF women's title into the trash. It was ruthless and aggressive, but it worked. The most important thing was that he forced Vince McMahon to change the way he did business and he did it all single-handedly and Vince did it so he could keep up with him. Bischoff then talks about how he created the nWo and how NITRO beat RAW 84 weeks in a row and how he came so close to putting the WWF out of business forever. Eric then says that when Vince called him up, it surprised him but then after a while, it made sense because he is the only person who can turn a struggling business around. So it all starts this Sunday when he gets the opportunity to sign one wrestler who he never had the chance to sign, the one wrestler who he feels if he had signed would have made the whole WWF/WCW war's outcome turn differently. And that man is Triple H who will sign with him and not the nWo. Bischoff then ends the interview by saying that he's here to stay and put the "E" into WWE. Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler talk about how Triple H is contracted to Smackdown! and both wonder who the Smackdown! GM will be.
- Backstage, we see the wrestlers all talking amongst themselves at the blockbuster announcement. Ric Flair is seen shaking his head in disgust.- Backstage, Undertaker and Bradshaw discuss Eric Bischoff's arrival when Bischoff himself enters the picture and says that Taker is the one guy he's always wanted to meet and sign. Bischoff says that if there's anything he ever needs, but Bradshaw interrupts and says that it's nice to meet him and what not. Bischoff shrugs Bradshaw off and finishes his statement to Taker saying that if he ever needs anything, he's there. Bischoff leaves and Taker and Bradshaw have a disgusted look on their face.
Molly Holly vs. Trish Stratus [Women's Title Match]
- The two loadies lock up with some arm moves and reversals. Molly with a drop toe hold, causing Trish to hit her head on the turnbuckle. Choke by Molly, who then follows it up by pulling Trish by the hair. Cover gets a two count. Trish tries to fight back but Molly hits a neckbreaker and goes for another cover, but Trish again kicks out. Molly throws Trish into the corner and comes charging in but Trish hits an elbow before mounting Molly on the top. Trish then jumps up and flips Molly over and to the mat. A missed clothesline by Molly allows Trish to hit her with a leg but Molly kicks out. The match proceeds with both women exchanging general offense, including a victory roll by Trish. Finally, Molly throws in a suplex, and puts her foot on the ropes for leverage to secure the pinfall victory. Winner: Molly Holly
- Backstage, we see Ric Flair walking in the back when he meets Eric Bischoff. Eric says that it's so good to see him again. They have a lot of history but let's leave it in the past. WWE is a whole new start for both of us so think about it. Bischoff says Flair must have been surprised to find out he was the new GM for RAW. Flair responds by saying that surprised isn't the word but if he could be excused, he has a big match coming up. Flair leaves and Eric stares at him evily as he walks away.
Booker T vs. Big Show
- Big Show attacks Booker T to start, cornering him and giving him two huge chops before hitting a huge standing suplex. Show tries to drop an elbow but misses, allowing Booker T to wail away with lefts and rights. Unfortunately for him, Show catches him with a sideslam and then tries to slam him again, but Booker T slides away and makes Show eat some more punches. Chops by Booker T along the ropes and a kick knocks the big man down. Booker T then clotheslines Show over the top and to the outside where Show rams his knee into the steel steps. Booker tries to use the chair but misses and hits the post, as Show throws him in along with the chair. Booker T tries to use the chair again, but Show punches it knocking it back into Booker T. Show then throws the ref aside and uses the chair on Booker, causing a disqualifcation. Winner: Booker T via DQ
- After the match, Big Show continues his assault, chokeslamming Booker T through the announce table.- Backstage, Brock Lesnar is doing some bicep curls when Paul Heyman says that anything can truly happen in WWE. Heyman talks about the Vengeance match and how their situation is perfect - Brock can become the IC champ and then go onto face the world champion at Summerslam. Heyman says that as long as Brock and Taker are together, there will be nothing left of Rob Van Dam and Lesnar says that's what he pay him for.
- We come back to see Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler express their sympathies towards the family of James (Jimmy) Miranda, who passed away last week. Miranda was in charge of merchandising at live events.
Christopher Nowinski vs. Bradshaw [Hardcore Title Match]
- Nowinksi grabs a mic before the match and says that he doesn't want a hardcore match and neither do the fans. His proposition is that he will allow Bradshaw to beat him - he will simply lay down for the three count. Bradshaw will retain the title, he won't get hurt, everyone wins. With that, Nowinski lays down and as Bradshaw goes to pin him, Chris puts him into a small package but can't get the three. Bradshaw comes running at Nowinski taking him down with a tackle and then sending him to the outside. Nowinski tries to run away but Bradshaw catches him and then slams him into the ring barricades. Bradshaw dislodges the steel steps and shoves it straight into Nowinski's face before pulling a chair out from under the ring. Before he can use, it Nowinski runs away through the fans, but Bradshaw again catches him and slams a trashcan into his head. In the backstage area, Bradshaw continues to physically dominate Christopher, even closing a lid on his head. Out of nowhere, Johnny the Bull attacks Bradshaw and pins him to become the new hardcore champion. Winner: Johnny the Bull
- Backstage, Big Show meets up with Eric Bischoff and the two hug. Show says that with the nWo gone, he thought he was screwed, but he's excited that Bischoff is here now. Show asks for a favor. He has a huge pain in the ass and it's Booker T. Big Show asks for a match against Booker T at Vengeance that will be a no-DQ, no countout match. Bischoff says there is no guarantee that Booker T will even be able to wrestle, but Show insists. Bischoff says that it's his first night and he just wants to settle in and not piss Vince off. But then he reconsiders saying that they have history and finally, he relents and says that he'll make the match and talk to Vince about it. Bischoff then finds The Game DVD and puts it on as JR informs us that Bischoff really wants to sign Triple H.- Backstage, Johnny the Bull thanks Eric Bischoff for allowing him to compete on RAW tonight. Bischoff says it wasn't his doing, all he did was give him the opportunity; other than that he did it on his own. Bischoff welcomes him to RAW, but Bradshaw busts in and clotheslines Johnny and pins him to regain the hardcore title.
- Backstage, Paul Heyman is giving Brock a pep talk, but Undertaker comes in and the two go face to face. Heyman tries to say something but Lesnar yells at him to stop. They continue to stare at each other until Brock tells Undertaker to go out first, but Taker says no, after you. They leave in anticipation of the main event, which is next.
Brock Lesnar & Undertaker vs. Rob Van Dam & Ric Flair
- Taker and Flair start things off, with Taker dominating the action until Ric is able to corner him and get in a few of his patented chops. Tag to Van Dam who enters via a high cross body from the top, but Taker soon fights him off before missing with a kick. RVD starts working away on the leg, tagging to Flair who continues the same strategy by attempting and getting the figure four leglock on. Taker wiggles his way out but gets caught with a low blow, allowing Flair to continue with punches and chops. Flair tries to run off the ropes, but runs straight into a Taker chokeslam which gets a two, giving Taker the opportunity to tag out to Brock Lesnar. Lesnar pushes Ric into the corner and charges in a couple times with a football type tackle. Boots to Flair in the corner and Lesnar continues the domination with Taker even getting in a few cheapshots in and outside of the ring. Tag to Taker who further works away before Flair fights back with more chops. Taker back in control now but he misses an elbow drop and Ric follows it up with a thumb to the eye. Ric tries to head up to the top but he's caught with by Taker, who then superplexes him from the top. Cover but RVD rushes in for the save just as Taker tags out to Brock. Lesnar contiues to totally dominate Flair but he finally misses a shoulder charge allowing Ric to suplex him and go for the cover. Brock kicks out easily though and both men are now down with the ref starting his count. Simultaneous tags to Taker and RVD and of course, Van Dam gets the better of that exchange. RVD cleans house, monkey flip on Taker followed by the Rolling Thunder and a cover, but Lesnar interrupts the count. Brock refuses to leave and goes head-to-head with Lesnar, hitting a split legged moonsault and getting a two count even though I could have sworn that Taker was the legal man. Amidst confusion, Brock hits Flair with the F-5 but Lesnar knocks him over and hits the five star frog splash. Before he can pin him, Taker walks in and hits RVD with the Last Ride. Cover and 1-2-3, it's over. Winners: Brock Lesnar & Undertaker
- After the match, Brock attacks Undertaker, hitting him with the F-5. Heyman taunts Taker as Brock grabs the title belt and gives it a long stare. He sets the belt on Taker and walks away with Heyman.- Backstage, Eric Bischoff is impressed with what he sees. Bischoff pulls out a cell phone. He leaves a message for the Rock, saying that he's a huge fan of the Rock and that he's sure that RAW needs the Rock. He ends the message by saying that he hates leaving a message but that he will meet him with at Smackdown! to discuss it further.
