* Smackdown came to us from Bridgeport, Connecticut. The show opened with Stacy Keibler announcing the entrance of Vince McMahon. Upon entering the ring Vince expressed his displeasure with HHH interfering in Jericho’s match last week. Vince tells the crowd that he believes without the interference Jericho would have definitely walked away with the WWE Championship. Vince says there will be some new rules for Triple H. He says HHH is to follow these rules or he will have hell to pay. With that last comment the Game’s music blares and HHH walked down to meet Vince in the ring. HHH defiantly breaks Vince’s rule about staying ten feet away by walking a foot at a time asking when Vince will destroy him. Vince dismisses Stacy and rants at HHH. Vince removes his jacket; Triple H removes his shirt, then a mob of superstars (Test, Lance Storm, Hardcore Holly, Christian, and D-Von) walk down to the ring. HHH put up a valiant effort against the assailants but was soon pummeled to the ground. Jericho comes out, gets a chair, and sits and watches the assault on HHH. HHH tries to attack Jericho but is stopped and then beaten down by Jericho’s chair. Jericho puts the Game in the Walls of Jericho as Vince taunts HHH and tells him he will go to hell, a Hell in a Cell match that is, at Judgment Day. Vince and Stacey depart arm in arm, leaving HHH bloody in the ring.* The first match of the show was for the Cruiserweight Championship. It featured Hurricane Helms battling Tajiri who was accompanied by Torrie Wilson. Tajiri did not receive a very warm welcome as he entered the ring. They wrestlers throw each other around and beat on one another for a while. Tajiri was thrown out of the ring and refused assistance from Torrie. The battle continued until Torrie got on the announce table and removed her Japanese outfit, revealing some provocative undergarments. A stunned Tajiri gets counted out of the match and Hurricane wins by a DQ.
* Jericho celebrates having HHH’s blood on his hands. Jericho tells Vince he plans to end HHH’s career in the Hell in the Cell. Vince decides they should start now by giving HHH a match that night against none other than Reverend D-Von.
* Al Snow congratulates the Hurricane on his great match. Al Snow talked about Spiderman and Hurricane said that he could easily beat Spiderman. Al Snow suggests medication for Hurricane. Hurricane notes that Al Snow is wearing a Spiderman shirt. Hurricane gives him a Hurricane shirt. When he does Al Snow sees a "hurri-note" that possibly could have been from a "hurri-fan." Hurricane reads the note that says something about knowing him. Neither knows who is responsible.
* The second match was Mark Henry vs. Test. The two men throw each other around; Henry was in control for a while. Henry puts Test in a full nelson but Test is able get a huge boot to Henry knocking him down for the three count.
* The third match consisted of Rev D-Von and HHH. D-Von comes out being accompanied by a rather large man with a metal moneybox around his neck. D-Von preaches and introduces his new helper Deacon Batista, then says he will beat the sin out of HHH. HHH comes out with a bloody bandage on his head. HHH knocks D-von down twice and flings him in the ropes. D-von drops HHH on the turnbuckle. D-von covers for a 2 count. HHH battles back with shots to D-von’s abdomen. HHH is thrown out of ring and the Deacon slams HHH in the steps. D-von jumps from the top rope but the Game moves out of the way. D-von hits a neck-breaker and HHH rolls out of the ring. He gets a chair but the Deacon stops him. Triple H sets up for a Pedigree but Jericho comes out and bashes HHH with the moneybox Deacon had. D-von covers for the three count.
* Kurt Angles comes out after the commercial break to prove how ugly Edge will be without hair. Kurt Angle calls Edge a wisenheimer (what is this? the 50‘s?). Angle shows a picture of Edge with hair and Edge without hair. He looks at Edge with hair and goes to the picture of Edge without hair but instead it is a picture of Angle without hair. Angle whines like a small child. Angle calls out Edge, instead he gets Hogan who is received with a standing ovation. They talk some trash and Hogan beats on Angle. Edge spears Angle as he retreats.
* A six-man tag team match up was next on the Smackdown! plate. It included Al Snow & Maven & Rikishi vs. Billy & Chuck & Rico. This was Rico’s first official appearance. The six men go at it. After being kicked around by Rico, Maven turns the match around and tags in Al Snow. Rikishi and Maven beat on Rico and Rico gets set up for a Stink Face but Chuck knocks him out of the ring. Billy hits a famous-er on Al Snow and pins him for the win.
* Our next match featured Randy Orton vs. Lance Storm. Both superstars stood in the ring realizing there was no ref. Hardcore Holly’s music played and he came out as the special guest referee. Orton pins Storm but Hardcore counts very slowly so Orton only gets two. When Storm pins Orton, Hardcore counts very quickly. Storm puts Orton in a half-Boston Crab. Orton reaches for the ropes but Hardcore pushes it away. Orton is forced to tap. Hardcore and Storm beat on Orton until Valboski comes out to defend Orton.
* Edge enters Hogan’s dressing room and tries on some of Hogan’s trademark accessories (the bandana and the feather boas). He does a tasteful, not mocking impression of Hogan until Hogan comes in. Hogan shows Edge how his special saying or whatever it was goes and tells Edge they will go out and "wreak of awesomeness." Edge enjoyed the experience.
* The final match of Smackdown brought us more tag team action as Hogan teamed up with Edge to take on the team of Chris Jericho and Kurt Angle. Hogan and Edge dominate Angle until Angle tags in Jericho. Jericho and Edge go back and forth with some double-teaming from Angle. Hogan hits a leg drop on Jericho; Jericho puts Hogan in the Walls of Jericho. Then all hell breaks loose when Triple H runs out and hits everyone with a sledgehammer. Vince taunts HHH to hit him with the sledge and Jericho hits HHH from behind with a chair and triumphantly puts his foot on HHH’s chest.
* By far the most amusing quote of the evening came from Tazz when the WWE name change and the World Wildlife Fund was brought up. Tazz said something along the lines of how can a Panda be confused with a WWE Superstar.
