I know all of you missed me last week, but fear not, for I have returned from my brief sabbatical to bring to you the Smackdown! report for August 1st.

* Rey Mysterio vs. Tajiri
Smackdown kicks off with a match between Rey Mysterio and Tajiri. They replay a portion of last week’s match that featured Mysterio. Mysterio baseball slides on Tajiri an moonsaults from the second rope. Both men get in the ring and the bell sounds. Tajiri gets covered quickly by Mysterio but Tajiri kicks out. Tajiri turns it around with a few kicks to Mysterio. Tajiri kicks Mysterio in the chin and knocks him down. Tajiri chokes Mysterio using his knee and the ropes. Tajiri chops at Mysterio then whips him in to the ropes, and slams him face first into the mat. Tajiri covers but Mysterio kicks out. Tajiri sling shots Mysterio over the top rope but Mysterio lands on his feet on the apron. Tajiri kicks a thunderous shot on Mysterio’s chin. Out side of the ring Tajiri slams Mysterio into the side of the ring. Mysterio is finally rolled back into the ring. Tajiri stretches Mysterio’s back on the ring post. Tajiri covers again but Mysterio kicks out. Tajiri hangs Mysterio upside down on the ropes in the corner and Tajiri kicks him in the head with a baseball slide. Tajiri applies a submission to Mysterio then flips him around but Mysterio counters by landing on his feet. Mysterio counters a power bomb by using a DDT on Tajiri then covers Tajiri for a 2 count. Tajiri locks in the tarantula. Tajiri then goes for another kick but misses. Mysterio covers Tajiri but Tajiri kicks out. Tajiri covers Mysterio for a 2 count after a power bomb to Mysterio. Mysterio can barely stand up. Tajiri goes for a move but Mysterio kicks him in the back. Mysterio nails the 619. Tajiri counters another move by Mysterio in into a pin but Mysterio kicks out. Mysterio, from the top rope, hits a huracanrana and pins Tajiri for the victory.

* Backstage Kurt Angle is walking around.

* Kurt Angle comes out to the ring with something to say. Angle says he would like to start off by saying he is sorry for scaring everyone last week. He says he realizes if you are loyal Smackdown viewer, the thought of Angle leaving the show would be terrifying. Angle says if he were no longer on the show there would be no reason to watch. The crowd begins to boo Angle. Angle says last week was just a mix up and he had tot leave the arena to let off some steam because of the actions of a snot nosed punk named Brock Lesnar. Angle mocks him by saying Lesnar is the next big, and a former NCAA champion. Angle says he has been winning NCAA championships since Lesnar was playing Hungry, Hungry Hippos. Angle says Lesnar is tough but asks where is gold medals are. Angle continues by saying Lesnar doesn’t have any. Angle says last week Lesnar came down to the ring and got him DQed then Lesnar had the audacity to tell Angle that his days as the number one guy are over. Angle calls Lesnar a cave beast and then says that if Lesnar thinks he is the number one guy then he should come down to the ring. Hogan comes out and mocks Angle’s whining then tells him to shut the hell up. The crowd begins Hogan chants. Hogan says seeing how Kurt missed most of last weeks show he needs an update, while Kurt was out crying Hogan was trying to regain his tag team titles and F-5ed him in the ring. Hogan says that Angle should leave the ring now because if anyone is going to wrestle Lesnar tonight it is going to be Hogan. angle says this must be a joke then asks what Hogan's going to do, challenge him in a game of shuffle board. Angle says he is facing Lesnar and if Hogan has a problem he needs to come down to the ring. Hogan comes in the ring. The two star each other down and Stephanie McMahon comes out and stops them. Stephanie says if there is one thing she loves, its the competitive spirit. she says that is what separates her show from Raw because the most athletic superstars are on Smackdown. She says that is why Lesnar signed with Smackdown, to fight Angle and Hogan. Stephanie says tonight there will be a match between Hogan and Angle and the winner will face Lesnar on next weeks Smackdown. Stephanie wishes them good luck and is about to leave. Angle says he is going to make Hogan tap and because he feels sorry for Hogan, he promises to make it quick. Hogan beats Angle around and flips him out of the ring.

* Backstage Stephanie is walking around. She enters her office only to find Eric Bischoff sitting on her couch. Stephanie demands that he leave. Eric says just because they are competitors doesn't mean they cant be friends. Stephanie says they cant be friends because she doesn't like him. Eric asks if this means she is upset. Eric says that at first he thought he would be at a disadvantage because she is a McMahon, but he says that he has 5 of her guys and she only has 1. Stephanie yells for security. Eric says he is leaving. Stephanie tells the security guard to get Eric out now. Eric asks what the main event is. Stephanie tells him is Edge vs. the Rock and it is too bad Eric wont be around to see it.

* Brock Lesnar vs. Mark Henry
They show an interview with Henry, Henry says Lesnar made a mistake last week by jumping him. They two men lock up in the ring. Neither of them move. Lesnar tries to take down Henry but it doesn’t work. Lesnar clotheslines Henry and covers Henry for a 2 count. Henry is whipped into the turnbuckle. Lesnar attempts to lift Henry again, but can’t. Henry lifts up Lesnar and vertical suplexes him. Henry jumps on the back of Lesnar’s head. Henry hits Lesnar. Henry lifts Lesnar again but Lesnar rakes Henry’s eyes. Lesnar belly to belly suplexes Henry. Lesnar hits the F-5 on Henry then pin him for the victory.

* Backstage Heyman tells Lesnar that Lesnar will be the next Undisputed Champion. Hogan runs into Lesnar. Lesnar tells Hogan that he hopes that Hogan beats Angle tonight because he really wants to face the Hulkster next week.

* Chuck and Billy are arguing with each other. Rico tries to break up the fight. Rico says he understands that the tag titles are on RAW but everything is going to work out. Billy and Chuck continue to argue and walk away. John Cena comes up to Rico smiling. Rico asks what he is smiling at. Cena says it looks like Rico’s boys are in trouble. Rico makes fun of Cena’s hair. Rico attempts to slap Cena but Cena stops him. Rico walks away swiftly.

* Angle runs into Rico and Angle tells him to get out of his freaking way. Angle runs into Lesnar. Lesnar says he hopes Angle wins tonight because he would like to face Angle.

* Kurt Angle vs. Hulk Hogan
The two men lock up and Hogan knocks Angle down. They lock up again, and again Hogan throws Angle down. Angle takes Hogan down and locks in a front face lock. Angle twist Hogan’s arm and Hogan twist Angle’s arm. Angle battles back but Hogan knocks him down. Hogan toss Angle then throws him out of the ring. Hogan slams Angles face on the barricades. Hogan rolls in the ring to break up the ten count. Hogan slams angles face on something else then both men roll back in the ring. Hogan slams Angles face into the corner 9 times. Angle battles back and knocks Hogan down. Angle gets out of the ring and beats on Hogan head. Angle gets back into the ring. Angle tries to suplex Hogan but Hogan reverses and suplexes Angle. Angle clotheslines Hogan and covers him for a two count. Angle jams his knee into the back of Hogan’s head. Angle kicks at Hogan in the corner. Angle locks in a sleeper on Hogan and uses the ropes. Hogan battles back hitting Angle with hit elbows. Angle suplexes Hogan. Hogan gets back up and slams Angle down. Hogan then scoop slams Angle. Hogan covers Angle, Angle kicks out. Hogan whips Angle into the ropes, Angle counters and tries to put Hogan into the Ankle Lock. Hogan boots Angle in the chin. Angle gets up and Angle slams Hogan. Angle covers but Hogan kicks out. Angle locks in the Ankle Lock. Hogan reaches the ropes. Angle pulls Hogan off and continues the hold further from the ropes. Hogan counters and knocks Angle into the ref. Angle goes out of the ring and gets a chair. Hogan boots Angle in the face and knocks him down. Hogan hits the leg drop and covers Angle, but the ref is knocked out. Lesnar comes out and gets on the apron but gets knocked off by Hogan. Angle gets caught with the chair and is disqualified, so next week Hogan will face Lesnar. Angle stomps on Hogan after the match. Hogan Hulks up and beats up Angle and boots him in the face and finally hits the leg drop on Angle. Lesnar gets in the ring and F-5ed Hogan.

* Rikishi vs. D-Von
D-Von starts off the match by beating up Rikishi. Rikishi is whipped into the corner but comes out and knocks D-Von down. Rikishi is whipped into the ropes and Bautista grabs his leg from the outside of the ring. D-Von kicks Rikishi in the back of the head as Bautista holds Rikishi. D-Von slams Rikishi into the barricade. D-Von and Rikishi roll back into the ring. D-Von jumps on Rikishi from the top rope and covers Rikishi for a two count. Rikishi misses a clothesline and D-Von hits him with an elbow to the chin. D-Von falls with his head in Rikishi’s crotch. Rikishi hits D-Von with a DDT. Rikishi is dragging D-Von and Bautista comes in but Rikishi kicks him. Rikishi jumps from the ropes and pins D-Von for the win. D-Von falls into the position for the stink face. Bautista gets up and clubs Rikishi in the back of the head. Bautista lifts Rikishi and slams him down. D-Von hits Rikishi with a flying head-butt afterward.

* Backstage Stephanie finds Stacy getting her make up done. Stephanie confronts Stacy about Eric Bischoff being in the Smackdown arena and in her office. Stacy said she didn’t know that he was here. Stephanie asks if Stacy is really that incompetent. Stephanie says that if Stacy ever betrays her or f Bischoff is ever in the arena again then Stacy will suffer the consequences.

* Noble and Nidia are in the ring talking about Noble’s Cruiserweight Championship. Noble says that Nidia keeps the neatest trailer in all the Carolinas, but now they have money so she doesn’t have to worry about it. Noble says people says that people still say they are trailer trash and he says he might as well be a Tar Heel. Noble and Nidia get out of the ring and go toward the announce table. Noble accuses Cole of checking out his woman. Nidia goes over to Cole and give him a lap dance and then kisses him several times. Noble says the perverts in the audience are liking it too much so she had to stop. Noble says that the announcers better start saying good things about him and he will make sure the Nidia will come

* Hardcore Holly, Mike Awesome, and Billy Kidman are watching a tape of Monday’s RAW. Stephanie turns it off and says that they can’t watch RAW in the arena. She wants to know why they don't watch Smackdown. She says that this is why they aren't main event stars, because they don't pay attention to their own product.

* John Cena vs. Rico
Rico kicks Cena with his knees a few times. Rico pins Cena but Cena kicks out. Cena slams Rico down. Rico kicks Cena in the face and knocks him down. Rico gets on the top rope and goes for a moonsault, but misses Cena. Cena drop kicks Rico and hits the tilt-a-whirl slam. Cena covers Rico but Rico kicks out. Cena rolls Rico into the small package but Rico kicks out. Rico tries a heel kick but misses Cena. Cena slams Rico down and covers for the pin fall victory. After the match Cena goes after Rico. Billy and Chuck come in to save Rico. Chuck puts Cena on his shoulders while Billy gets on the tope rope and hits Cena with flying bulldog.

* Bischoff is making his way through the crowd and pays off a guy for his front row seat. Bischoff sits down and the people around him begin to chant his name.

* Stephanie comes out to the ring and starts talking. She points out Eric Bischoff sitting in the front row. Stephanie says Eric is clever for buying a front row ticket. Stephanie says that she may have confused Bischoff earlier about the main event. She clarifies that the new main event will be Edge and the Rock vs. her newly acquired RAW talent Eddie Guerrero and the WWE Intercontinental Champion Christ Benoit. Bischoff runs towards the ring and Stephanie orders the security to remove him from the building.

* Edge and The Rock vs. Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit
Guerrero hits Rock from behind and starts the match. Rock battles back by slamming Guerrero’s face down. Rock covers but Guerrero kicks out. Guerrero tags in Benoit. Benoit and Guerrero double team Rock. Rock suplexes Benoit to turn the match around. The Rock is whipped in the ropes and Guerrero hits Rock from behind. Benoit kicks at Rock’s shoulders. Benoit tags in Guerrero. Guerrero kicks at Rock while he is in the corner. Guerrero tags in Benoit. Benoit whips Rock into the turnbuckle. Benoit chops at Rock. Rock battles back but soon gets knocked down by Benoit’s elbow. Guerrero gets tagged in. Edge gets tagged in. Edge jumps off the top rope and knocks Guerrero down. Edge spears Guerrero and then goes and hits Benoit with his shoulder. Benoit gets tagged in. Benoit whips Edge into the ropes and knocks him down. Benoit whips Edge into the turnbuckle. Guerrero and Benoit double team Edge while the ref is turned towards the Rock. Guerrero gets tagged in. Benoit drop toe holds Edge. Guerrero covers Edge but Edge kicks out. Guerrero locks in a submission on Edge. Edge reaches the ropes and Guerrero releases the hold. Benoit gets tagged in. Benoit hits a back breaker on Edge and covers for a two count. Benoit continues to kick at Edge. Benoit German suplexes Edge 3 times the cover but Edge kicks out. Benoit locks in a single leg Boston Crab submission. Edge counters by kicking Benoit in the chin. Benoit drags Edge back to his corner and tags in Guerrero. Guerrero suplexes Edge and covers him but Edge kicks out. Guerrero tags in Benoit. Guerrero and Benoit get on the top rope with Edge but Edge knocks them both down. Edge jumps on top of Guerrero and covers for a 2 count. Edge begins to crawl towards Rock but Benoit knocks Rock off the apron. Guerrero gets tagged in and beats on Edge in the corner. Edge counters Guerrero with a power bomb. Edge tags in Rock, Guerrero tags in Benoit. Rock knocks Benoit down and Rock knocks Guerrero out of the ring. Rock hits Benoit with a DDT and covers but Guerrero breaks it up. Edge spears Benoit. Edge attempts to spear Guerrero but misses and goes out of the ring. Rock hits a spine buster on Benoit and a Rock Bottom on Guerrero. Brock Lesnar comes out with a chair. Benoit locks in the cross face on the Rock. Rock waited for a moment then finally tapped out to Benoit. As Lesnar backs up the ramp, Hogan comes out and attacks him with a chair.
