* 3 days....or a mere 72 hours to Summer Slam! Smackdown opens with Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman head toward the ring. Heyman says he would like the fans to consider the fact that rock is the number 1 box office attraction in WWE history, the biggest star in Smackdown, the most sought after commodity in Hollywood, on the cover of people, featured on entertainment tonight, his fan following is without question second to none. Heyman says the people may think he is talking about the Rock, but those thing used to apply to Hogan, whose career is now dead because of Lesnar. Heyman says just like Hogan’s career is now over, the very same thing will happen to the Rock at Summer Slam. Heyman says before tonight is over, Lesnar and the Rock will collide. Lesnar grabs the mic and says he feels the same way he felt the night he fought Hulk Hogan. Lesnar goes on to say that he will make the Rock cry like a little bitch. On that note the Rock’s music hits and he walks out on the stage. Rock says that night after night he told Lesnar to bring it and so far Lesnar has brought nothing. He says tonight will be a night like no other. For tonight the Rock is gonna bring it to Lesnar. The crowd begins a Rocky chant. Rock says that as far as he is concerned about colliding with Lesnar tonight before the night is over, the night is already over, he then rushes towards the ring. Benoit and Guerrero attack from behind. Benoit puts Rock in the cross-face while Guerrero kicks at him. Lesnar mocks the Rock, telling him to just bring it.

* Backstage Edge arrives in the building and is attacked by Benoit and Guerrero. Officials run out and break up the scuffle.

* The Hurricane and Shannon Moore vs. Tajiri and Jamie Noble
Moore and Tajiri started the match. They locked up. Tajiri took the upper hand with a few kicks but then Moore hits an arm drag on Tajiri. Hurricane hits a leg drop from the top rope, then hits a cross body. Tajiri kicks Hurricane. Noble gets tagged in, Hurricane hits Noble, then covers for a 2 count. Nidia kisses Moore and Tajiri hits him from behind. Noble pins Moore in the ring for a two count. Tajiri gets tagged in. Tajiri puts Moore in chin lock submission. Moore gets out, and counters Tajiri’s elbow with a suplex. Moore tags in Hurricane, Noble gets tagged in by Tajiri. Hurricane hits a flying clothesline on Noble, then hits a neck-breaker off the second rope. Hurricane covers Noble for 2 count. Hurricane goes for the choke-slam Noble counters and Hurricane tags in Moore. Tajiri goes after Moore, Hurricane goes after Noble. Tajiri locks in the tarantula on Moore while the Hurricane floors Noble, Hurricane then choke-slams Tajiri. Hurricane is then sent over the top rope. Noble goes for a power bomb but Moore counters by pinning Noble. After the match Tajiri an Noble attack Moore. Hurricane gets in the ring and clears everyone out. Matt Hardy runs out after the action is over and celebrates with Hurricane and Moore. Moore and Hurricane lift Hardy on their shoulders in celebration.

* Backstage Stephanie hunts down Benoit and Guerrero. She yells at them for jeopardizing the main event at Summer Slam, and says that if the Rock cant compete on Sunday, then they will have a dramatic pay cut. Benoit says that last week she wanted him to make the Rock tap, Stephanie says that he is right, but that was last week to send a message to RVD about the Intercontinental title. She then goes on about Guerrero attacking Edge. Edge busts in and chases away Benoit and Guerrero with a chair. Edge runs to Stephanie and says he suggests that she make the Smackdown main event tonight a tag match with him and the Rock versus Benoit and Guerrero. Stephanie agrees.

* Backstage Matt Hardy is bragging about his crowd reaction. Hurricane calls Hardy the home town boy. Hardy says he gets that reaction everywhere and if he goes out now his reaction will be twice as loud. Hardy’s music hits and he goes down to the ring. Chavo Guerrero comes out and tells Hardy he doesn’t know who he thinks he is for is trying to suck up to all the people. Chavo says that he wants to see the reaction Hardy gets after he loses to Chavo. An impromptu match begins.

* Matt Hardy vs. Chavo Guerrero
Hardy is handling Chavo early in the match, until Chavo hits a drop toe hold knocking Hardyout of the ring. Chavo rams Hardy into the side of the ring. Chavo takes him back in the ring. Chavo kicks at Hardy while he is laying in the corner. Hardy fights back and flings Chavo into the turnbuckle. Chavo rolls Hardy up with a sunset flip and gets a two count. Hardy and Chavo trade punches in the middle of the ring. Hardy hits a back body drop on Chavo. Hardy covers fro a two count. Hardy runs into Chavo’s boot. Hardy hits a suplex that drives his elbow into Chavo. Hardy hits the second rope leg drop. Hardy sets up fro the twist of fate. Kane’s music hits and the "my path has been chosen" thing plays for a second. This distracts Hardy long enough for Chavo to roll him up for the pin fall victory. Hardy argues with the ref, saying that when an explosion happens the match ends. The ref disagrees saying his shoulders were down. Hardy says Matt Hardy losing in North Carolina is the biggest travesty since Hebner screwed Brett Hart in Canada.

* Backstage Funaki is setting up for his interview after the commercial break.

* Back to the Funaki interview. Funaki is entering the women’s locker room. Nidia is changing. Molly runs up and demands to know what he is doing. Funaki tells her. Nidia says the camera doesn’t bother her. Molly says that she has a match tonight and Funaki had better leave. Molly calls Nidia "loose." Nidia says she isn’t "loose", she is open. Nidia says that after she win the title from Molly tonight she is going to remove her shirt for all to see.

* Backstage Rey Mysterio says he cant wait for Summer Slam. Mysterio says people think that Angle is much bigger than he, but Mysterio says he pinned Angle before so he think he can hang with Angle. Angle shows up and says Mysterio’s mask is on to tight. Angle says that he is gonna give Mysterio a dose of reality tonight because tonight Angle has requested a match with Billy Kidman to show Mysterio what he is in for at Summer Slam. Angle says that if he sees Mysterio’s mask during his match tonight, at Summer Slam he will not only beat Mysterio, he will also break his ankle.

* Kurt Angle vs. Billy Kidman
Angle hits a fireman's carry on Kidman right away to start off the match up. Angle gets the Ankle Lock, Kidman is on the ropes. Kidman delivers a leg scissors take down, Angle then hits three German suplexes. Mysterio comes out and Angle walks up the ramp to him. The ref begins to count Angle out. Angle gets back in the ring and gets booted by Kidman. Angle hits a suplex on Kidman, the slams his face in the turnbuckle. Angle delivers a back breaker to Kidman, then covers for a two count. Angle stomps on Kidman as he crawls to the ropes. Kidman fights back and delivers a leg scissors takedown that lands Kurt out of the ring. A fan in a Mysterio shirt has his Mysterio mask ripped off by Angle. Kidman hits the cross body while Angle’s attention is turn away. Angle gets taken down by Kidman. Kidman rolls Angle up for a two count. Kidman hits a face first bull dog on Angle and covers for a two count. Kidman hits a DDT on Angle and coves for yet another two count. Angle counters another roll up with the ankle lock. Kidman counters the Ankle lock with a boot to the face. Kidman goes for the shooting star press but Angle pulls Kidman ff the top rope. Angle covers Kidman for a two count. Angle attempts the Angle slam, Kidman counters but knocks out the ref. Angle is knocked out of the ring. Angle grabs a chair and bring is into the ring. Kidman drop kicks the chair into Angles face. Kidman covers and the ref counts 2. Angle hits the Angle slam. Mysterio comes out and takes down Angle. Angle runs out of the ring in pursuit of Mysterio. The ref begins to count Angle out. The ref reaches 10 and Kidman is named the winner. Angle attacks Kidman after the ring with a German suplex and then several punches. Kidman is the Angle-slammed over the top rope.

* Backstage Edge comes to check on Rock. Edge tells him that Benoit and Guerrero attacked him as well. Rock tells Edge that his ribs are sore but nothing is going to keep him from taking on Lesnar at Summer Slam.

* Rikishi and John Cena vs. D-Von and Bautista
D-Von and Cena start the match. Cena is taken down by D-Von’s punches and chops. D-Von’s suplex is countered and he is pushed into Rikishi. Rikishi gets tagged in. Rikishi hits a leg drop on D-Von. D-Von tags in Bautista. Bautista rams his shoulder in Rikishi while in the corner. Bautista is whipped into the turnbuckle. Rikishi hits the Samoan drop on Bautista. D-Von and Cena get in the ring. D-Von throws Cena out. Rikishi boots Bautista in the face. Rikishi rams into Bautista, then delivers a back body drop to D-Von. Rikishi signals for the stink face on Bautista but D-Von cuts in. Cena gets back in the ring. D-von clotheslines Rikishi. Bautista and Cena go at it outside the ring. Rikishi delivers a DDT to D-Von. Rikishi gives D-Von the stink face. Bautista hits Rikishi from behind. D-Von takes down Cena. D-Von yells at Bautista for not helping him just then. Bautista lifts D-Von and drives him down to the mat. Bautista gets out of the ring and walks away. Rikishi drops on to of D-Von from the second rope and pins him for the victory.

* Backstage Noble and Nidia are talking about Nidia’s match. Nidia flashes an old man working on the crew.

* Molly vs. Nidia for the WWE Women’s Championship
The two lock up in the middle of the ring. Nidia wrenches Molly’s arm. Nidia takes out her gum and puts it on the turnbuckle. Molly puts Nidia in a side headlock. Nidia backslide pins Molly for a two count. Nidia then pins with a bridge for a two count. Molly kicks Nidia in the head. Molly is countered with a roll up from Nidia for a two count. Nidia sling shots Molly into the turnbuckle and covers for another 2 count. Nidia hits Molly with a DDT and covers again for a to count. Nidia attempts a super-plex but Molly battles out of it with a forearm to Nidia’s face. Noble interferes but Molly knocks him down. Molly is able to pin Nidia for the win. Noble makes sure Nidia is alright. He tells her that she got robbed and she should give the people what they want to see by removing her shirt. Molly runs back in and drives Noble into Nidia.

* Stephanie McMahon comes out to the stage. She thanks the crowd for coming to the greatest show on TV. Stephanie says that what Smackdown has to offer far outweighs was Raw has to offer. She says the Smackdown superstars will steal the show.

* Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit vs. Rock and Edge
Edge rushes to the ring and is soon double teamed by Benoit and Guerrero. Rock goes after Benoit and clears him out of the ring. Edge and Guerrero start off the match officially. Edge sling shots Guerrero into Benoit. He covers Guerrero for a two count. Guerrero goes after Edge with Kidney punches. Benoit gets tagged in. Benoit slams Edge’s face in the turnbuckle. Edge battles back by chopping at Benoit. Benoit’s face is slammed in to the mat. Guerrero gets the ref distracted and jumps on the back of Edge. Guerrero kicks at Edge’s head. Guerrero clotheslines Edge. Benoit gets tagged in. Benoit delivers a back breaker to Edge and covers for a 2 count. Benoit beats on Edge and chokes him with the ropes. Guerrero gets tagged in. Guerrero attempts a brain buster but Edge counters. Guerrero tags in Benoit and Edge tags in rock. Rock delivers a DDT to Benoit. Rock locks in the sharpshooter on Benoit. Guerrero breaks it up. Rocks hits Guerrero with a spine buster. Rock gives Guerrero the people’s elbow and covers but Benoit breaks up the count. Benoit and rock go at it outside the ring. Benoit rolls Rock back in the ring and covers him but Rock gets his shoulder up. Benoit begins to go after the Rock’s ribs. Guerrero gets tagged in. Guerrero covers but Rock kicks out. Rock battles back but is soon stopped by a drop kick from Guerrero. Benoit cover, Rock kicks out. Benoit knees Rock’s ribs. Benoit knocks Edge off the apron and locks in the cross face on the Rock. Rock reaches fro the rope but Guerrero pulls it away from him. The ref lifts the Rocks hand and on the third time he keeps it up and reaches and gets the rope. Benoit locks in the cross face again but its broken up by Edge. Benoit knocks Edge out of his away and tags in Guerrero. Guerrero covers and Rock kicks out. Guerrero attempts a frog splash but Edge knocks him off the turnbuckle. Rock tags in Edge. Benoit comes in but is clotheslines. edge face plants Guerrero. Edge delivers a shoulder to Benoit in the turn buckle. Edge pins Guerrero, Benoit breaks it up. Rock gives Benoit a rock bottom and Edge spears Guerrero and covers him for the victory. Lesnar pops up behind the Rock. Rock motions for Edge to leave the ring, Edge goes. The two yell at each other but their words are inaudible to us. Lesnar drives his shoulder into Rock’s ribs. Lesnar runs towards the Rock, but Rock battles back and send Lesnar over the top rope. Heyman grabs Lesnar to prevent him from going back into the ring.
