Pre-Intro: Lesnar was shown entering the arena. Kurt was shown walking backstage, looking very somber, being followed by Team Angle. He was sporting a nasty, using heavy make-up, black eye.1st Quarter Hour
(1) Team Angle defeated Billy Kidman/Rey Misterio. (Clean) Cole announced that the match was non-title. Kidman and Haas started off, showing off some mainly mat based counters until Kidman turned an arm-bar into a head scissors take over. Benjamin in, and Kidman took him down with an arm-bar, setting Rey up for a tag and a sunset flip over the ropes for a two count. Rey flipped out of a back suplex and caught Benjamin with a head scissors take over. Benjamin spun him around several times before flipping over to the mat. A double-team leg drop on Benjamin followed, with Haas getting knocked out of the ring by Kidman. Kidman then got caught in the corner by Benjamin, who used a single-arm DDT to get a two count. Haas tagged in and continued to work Kidman's arm. Team Angle slowed the flow of the match very deliberately, a very good dose of ring psychology compared to the last few weeks of 1st hour matches. Benjamin tagged back in and dropped Kidman to the mat, using his arm to wrench Kidman's elbow before locking on an arm bar. The heels then used their double-team guillotine body splash to get a two count. Misterio managed to run in and break up the pinfall. Haas tried a suplex, but Kidman reversed it into a roll up for a two count. He then caught Haas with an enzuigiri, leaving both men down on the mat. Kidman, favoring his arm heavily, struggled to the other side of the ring. Misterio nailed a springboard summersault splash on Haas, then knocked Benjamin out of the ring. He used Benjamin as a springboard to land an asai moonsault on Haas. Another reversal allowed Kidman to tag in and to nail Haas with a slingshot head scissors take over. A Haas powerbomb was countered with a 'noggin' knocker, but Benjamin broke up the count. Misterio tossed Benjamin, and Kidman set Haas up for the 619. Kidman then nailed Haas with the SSP, but Kidman caught his legs on the bottom rope, just barely, but enough to slow him considerably. The ref forced Misterio back into the corner, allowing Team Angle to hit their double team superkick/German suplex on Kidman for the three count. Fantastic opening match and a great way to start the show. Misterio tried helping Kidman up, but he shrugged him off and appeared upset with himself.
Stephanie appeared backstage talking to someone on a cell phone. Brian Kendrick showed up with some flowers and thanked her for giving him the match with Angle a few weeks ago.
Commercial: Big Show wrestled a steer. I would actually pay money to see that on PPV for some strange reason.
2nd Quarter Hour
Jamie Noble appeared at the Playboy Mansion via taxi. I wonder how he got past the front gate? So much for that realism edict. Someone answered the door, told Noble that the pool had already been cleaned. "I don't clean pools!... Anymore.." They showed time elapsing, finally ending with Noble telling the guy to tell Hugh that he should watch the Girls Gone Wild PPV to compared Nidia with "that common blonde bimbo." Some bodyguards walked him out. (GGW fears people getting parking tickets outside the clubs they are at, therefore alerting the police to their presence and the presence of people drinking underage. Yeah, GGW in Dayton was a blast)
(2) Rikishi pinned Chuck Palumbo. (Interference from heels throughout) Palumbo nailed Rikishi with a superkick after he fended off Nunzio and Stamboli. Belly-to-belly by Palumbo for a two count. Six months ago, this guy was getting married to Rock-a-Billy, now he's a wanna-be Soprano. Palumbo used his fists to batter Rikishi in the corner. (Vince: Sign Tommy Rich, Tracy Smothers and Tony Mamaluke. Please) Palumbo continued to work Rikishi over with power moves and some pummeling on the corner, until Rikishi finally caught him and reversed the predicament. Samoan drop, followed by a side kick set Palumbo up in the corner for a back slash. Rikishi went for the body drop, but Palumbo countered with a sunset flip. Rikishi just sat down and pounded Palumbo as the FBI ran in. Just then, the Guerreros ran in and attacked Nunzio and Stamboli, allowing Rikishi to standing splash Palumbo. He then dragged Palumbo to the corner and gave him the Ass of Doom for the three count. Rikishi and the Guerreros slapped hands afterwards. So much for being rudo.
Undertaker was shown looking for Nathan Jones backstage. He found him sitting by himself in the dark. Jones said when you spend ten years in solitary confinement, you learn to appreciate the peacefulness and silence. Jones asked why they had to watch Show and Train tonight if they had to wrestle them anyway in a few weeks. 'Taker said he wanted him to know their tendencies. Jones thought that was a good idea and they walked off.
3rd Quarter Hour
(3) Big Show and A-Train defeated Tajiri and Funaki. (Clean) Show took Funaki's head off with a clothesline to start. Tazz said Show outweighed both Tajiri and Funaki together. Military press by Show, followed by a tag to A-Train. Train worked him over in the corner and splashed him. Tajiri got tagged in and Train took him down immediately. Funaki and Tajiri began booting him together, Funaki from the apron. Train retreated to the other corner, but managed to get the advantage back and hung Tajiri out to dry on the top rope. Dropkick to the knee by Tajiri, followed by a Funaki missile dropkick, almost took Train off his feet, but Train recovered and got a two count. Show, by this point, was doing commentary at the table while Train wrestled both of them. A Tajiri boot followed by a Funaki sunset flip got a two count on Train. Show finally had enough and ran in, but ate a big kick from Tajiri. He quickly recovered and ran over Tajiri. Allowing Train to hit his over-the-shoulder backbreaker for the three count. Stupid match and a pointless squash of two more talented guys.
Dawn Marie is shown walking backstage. She is approached by Sean O'Haire. Sean asked her what was wrong, she said that she's upset over Torrie getting picked for Playboy over her. Sean dropped another GGW reference. Dawn took that as Sean telling her that she should flash the crowd tonight.
Dawn Marie entered the ring and posed. She said while the other girls were going wild on GGW, she is going to go "wild" on Smackdown. Dawn took her shirt off and flashed the announcer's side of the ring. The camera shot had the ring ropes covering her about breast level. She then ran off as they ran a promo for GGW's PPV.
4th Quarter Hour
The showed a segment filmed "earlier in the week" featuring John Cena rapping about Brock some more. He managed to work in masturbation, ho', five dollar bill, limp bizkit and Viagara. I can't believe people actually like this angle. I guess someone HAD to have liked the Red Rooster, too.
(4) The Guerreros wrestled Chris Benoit and Rhyno to a No Contest when Team Angle interfered. Benoit came to the ring wearing a "toothless aggression" t-shirt. Vince McMahon's brilliant marketing department wins another one. Chavo and Benoit started off. Chavo went for the arm, but Benoit managed to take him down by working the leg. Chavo tagged to Eddie. Rhyno then tagged in. Benoit noted that Benoit and Eddie used to be best friends. Waist lock by Eddie, but Rhyno powered out and locked on one of his own. Eddie used his speed to counter with a drop toe hold. Both guys made it back to their feet and Eddie worked him back to the corner before the ref separated them. The two then got into a shoving match. Eddie used some forearms to get Rhyno down on a knee and tagged to Chavo, allowing the double team. Chavo worked Rhyno in the corner with some shots to the midsection and a European uppercut. Chavo tagged to Eddie, but he got taken down quick. Rhyno tagged in Benoit and nailed Eddie with a hard knee off the ropes for a two. Snap suplex by Benoit, followed by some nasty chops. Benoit fought back with some blows, but Rhyno tagged and gave him a shot to the back of the head. That will cool you off. Rhyno nailed a chop of his own, but ate an elbow when he tried a corner charge. Tag to Chavo and Chavo gave Rhyno a back suplex and got a two count. Chavo has shown some decent power the last couple weeks. Front face lock by Chavo, but Rhyno backed him into the face corner, allowing Benoit to tag in and to break the hold. Benoit threw Chavo all over the place for a two count, but Chavo countered a back suplex with a cover for a two count. Eddie tagged in and worked Benoit over with some boots and a dropkick for a two count. Benoit got his leg on the ropes. Eddie then took it to Benoit with some chops in the corner, but Benoit fired back with some of his own. The two traded blows but Benoit went right to the CCF. Eddie managed to roll out, but Benoit caught him by the ropes. Chavo came in and started attacking Benoit, but Eddie pulled him off and the two got into an argument. Eddie apparently didn't want to get DQed since the 'Mania match was on the line. Chavo tagged in now, and he nailed Benoit with a chop and started stomping him. Eddie wanted to nail Chavo with a shot to the head while the ref was distracted, but Eddie kept himself from doing it. Chavo then locked on a chinlock. Chavo kept working Benoit over with some boots, but Benoit managed to roll him up for a two count. Eddie then tagged in and nailed his slingshot senton for a two count. Eddie then locked on an arm bar and wrenched Benoit's head the opposite way with his fence, adding to the pressure. Chavo tagged in and relieved Eddie. Chavo nailed a European uppercut, but Benoit started fighting back with some chops. A Chavo charged was countered with the CCF, but Chavo rolled out of it on through the ropes. Benoit dodged a slingshot plancha by Chavo, but Eddie nailed him with one instead. Rhyno then ran over and clotheslined Eddie as they went to a break.
5th Quarter Hour
Back from the break, and Benoit is delivering some rolling Germans. Chavo held back, Benoit tried for the CCF, but Chavo took him down to the mat and wrenched in his own CCF. Rhyno made the tag and broke up the move with a boot. Rhyno took a boot, but recovered to nail an over-head belly-to-belly for a two count. Rhyno locked on his own headlock. Chavo managed to get out and hit a missile dropkick on Rhyno, leaving both men down on the mat. Both men tagged and Benoit was all over Eddie. Eddie fired back with a back suplex. Head scissors take over by Eddie allowed him to go up top for the Frog Splash, but Benoit ran up and caught him. Eddie then rolled him up with a sunset flip from the top rope for a two count, but Rhyno broke it up. Rhyno then threw him out of the ring. Allowing Rhyno and Benoit to work over Eddie. Eddie dodged a double team and rolled Benoit up for a two. Rhyno and Eddie ended up outside while Chavo and Benoit went at it in the ring. Benoit managed to lock on the CCF, but Chavo had his body tortured so he couldn't get all of it. Eddie then hit the Frog Splash absolutely out of nowhere and twisted it like RVD, on Benoit. Rhyno ran in and speared Eddie. Chavo then ran in, Rhyno tried to powerbomb him but Chavo countered it with a 'rana over the ropes to the floor. Benoit then tried to pin Eddie but only got a two. Benoit followed with the German suplexes, but Eddie countered with his own by hitting his own rolling suplexes. Eddie went for a third one, but Benoit managed to lock on the CCF. Eddie countered out of it by getting behind him. Eddie couldn't do anything with it and ended up eating another German suplex from Benoit. Team Angle ran in and attacked both guys, ending the match. Lame ending to a great match.
Recap of the Hogan/Vince promo from last week.
6th Quarter Hour
Stephanie berated Team Angle over their interference in the tag match. She put Rhyno/Benoit and the Guerreros in a triple threat match against Team Angle for the tag titles.
They showed a bunch of old footage, including Hogan's pinfall over the Iron Sheik and some appearances on some talk shows. They end with Hogan and Vince shaking hands and wishing Hogan well before he left the WWF.
Vince came on and kept showing the hand shake over, and over and over. Vince said it was historical, because it was the only time he ever said thanks. Vince said they were friends, but Hogan changed and it hurt him. He then said Hogan turned on him and went to WCW. Hogan then challenged him to a match after Vince welcomed him back, and that hurt him again. Vince said he hates Hogan more then ever because he's forcing him to kill one of his own creations. Very strong and very old school style wrestling promo. The kind we need more of. Thank God they didn't recap everything from last week.
7th Quarter Hour
Matt Hardy and Shannon Moore came to the ring. Moore announced he wasn't defending his title until 'Mania against Misterio, and put up a challenge against any Cruiserweight in the back. They killed the Sharkboy chant that started during this segment. Kendrick then came down to the ring in black/white pants with a black/white mask. He announced himself as the Pittsburgh Penguin and from Pittsburgh, Pa. Hardy started off with a body slam. The two then locked up again and Hardy whipped him over with a snap mare. Kendrick flipped out of the next snap mare tanned then countered a charge into the corner with a 'rana. Hardy then stopped him and told him this was only an exhibition. Hardy stomped Kendrick and then set him up on the ropes, allowing Moore to choke him. Hardy dropped him across the top and hit him with side slam and got a two count. Hardy followed with some chops in the corner, but Kendrick fired back with some of his own. Hardy came back with the old eye rake and locked on a half surf board. Hardy then tried taking off the Penguin's mask, but he fought out of it. Hardy then managed to get the mask off of him and held it up in the air. Hardy acted shocked when he saw who it was. Kendrick dodged a Hardy corner charge by dodging out to the apron. He then knocked Moore off the apron and nailed a face breaker for a two count. Inverted bulldog got a near three for Kendrick. Moore got involved, but Kendrick ended up using him to step off of as Kendrick nailed his diamond duster. Moore and Hardy walked back up the ramp and the ref counted him out, declaring Kendrick the winner. They showed Rey Misterio watching things on the monitor in the back.
8th Quarter Hour
Rey Misterio congratulated Brian Kendrick backstage on his performance. Kendrick slammed his hands down and yelled "this is it," apparently expecting a contract.
Long recap of the Angle/Lesnar feud, up to last week.
Angle came to the ring with stitches on his eye brow. He wouldn't hand the belt over to the ref, either. He bowed down in the corner of the ring and prayed with the belt as Lesnar came down. Lesnar ran in and attacked Angle and wailed him. Angle couldn't even get his jacket off. Lesnar then nailed him with the F 5 and then suddenly got off of him at the count of two. Yeah, the wrong Angle. Kurt rolled his brother Eric out of the ring and laid down in his place. Kurt then quickly rolled Brock up and took off with his belt. Lesnar then gave Eric Angle an F 5 into the steel post outside the ring. Eric bladed as well. They ended the show with Lesnar looking not-so-happy.
