Hey Rajah & Family,
I would like to commend you on your website- unbelievable! You guys are the real deal when it comes to wrestling news.
This is Richie Mac reporting from Nassau, NY. I went to SmackDown last night, and there is something I noticed that I think should be noted. The audience was largely children under age 10. When I went to RAW in January, the audience was filled more with teenagers and young adults. Take that as you will, but I find it interesting that maybe there really is a "RAW" audience and a "SmackDown" audience. The Nassau Coliseum was filled about 3/4 of the way, with most of the top 300's taped off and the side with the camera on it was scarcely populated. Nonetheless, at about 7:30 we get....
The Fink! Yes, I said The Fink! His voice came pre-recorded over the loudspeaker to do all of the "what to do's and what not to do's" ... is Chimel too lazy? From there...
WWE Desire/ Lonely Road of Faith Video... this will never get old.
Hey... Chimel is in the ring! And we are ready for our opening contest...
DARK:
Funaki defeated a local who I believe was named Carly Cologne. Cologne actually got some heat behind him at certain points in the matchup. It was Funaki with a victory roll to pick up the win. Decent pop for Funaki.
Next came... CLICK CLICK, BOOM! Here comes our Velocity voice, Josh Matthews. Followed shortly thereafter by Bill DeMott. Both got huge ovations. Alrighty folks, its time for some pyro technics display! Bringing us right into...
VELOCITY
Billy Kidman VS Mark Jindrak w/ Theodore R. Long.
This was actually a fairly solid match, surprising since Kidman is a light heavyweight. Kidman got in a number of aerial maneuvers, but it was Jindraks power that won out in the end of the matchup, as his "reflection of perfect" proved to be too much for Kids.
WINNER: Mark Jindrak
Billy Gunn & Hardcore Holly VS Two Jobbers
Gunn and Holly got the biggest pops of the night thus far. Back and forth action was halted by a Holly dropkick, followed by a hard jab by Gunn which was "felt" by the crowd. Gunn let Holly finish off the locals with an Alabama Slam for the victory.
WINNER: Billy Gunn & Hardcore Holly
Akio w/ Sakoda VS Spike Dudley
Spike got another nice pop. Most people in the audience still do not have a clue who Akio & Sakoda are. Some mat based cruiserweight action led quickly into the finish, which saw Spikes Dudley Dog crash Akio's skull into the mat for the 3 count.
WINNER: Spike Dudley
And now its time, as the Velocity main event is about to begin! The runway for Rico & Haas is set up, and that can only mean one thing!!! For by far the biggest pop of all the evening, we get...
Rico w/ Miss Jackie VS Jamie Noble
There were Rico signs and chants going all over the place. Noble had issues with Jackie for her "splashing" activities on SmackDown's bikini contest in Toronto. Rico is just so damn fun to watch, everyone has a blast with him out there. No Charlie Haas, but Miss Jackie was wearing, or at least half wearing, some hot pink which kept the male audience at attention. Of course, Rico came out on top... no pun intended.
WINNER: Rico
Alright, its about time for some SmackDown... so fasten your seatbelts! Out comes the referees to change the ring aprons... and Chimel tells us to stand by for the SmackDown. But first, the voices of SmackDown... Michael Cole and New York's own... TAZZ!!! Big ovation.
