- WWE's main concern right now is the poor attendance, mainly at house shows. Recent shows have often drawn less than 2000 fans and sometimes below 1000 fans. There have been numerous shows in the past that have been dropped due to low advance ticket sales.
The low attendance is hurting wrestlers who are getting low payoffs since most are paid based on how much money is made at the gates. The Smackdown crew is especially down since they have been doing much worse than RAW. The feeling backstage for Smackdown workers is that things will not improve.
- The top two Smackdown matches for SummerSlam are still expected to be John Bradshaw Layfield vs. The Undertaker for the WWE Title and Kurt Angle vs. Eddie Guerrero. WWE would like to have Bradshaw as a long-term champion and he is expected to keep the WWE Title past SummerSlam.
The top two RAW matches could be Chris Benoit vs. Triple H for the World Title, with Eugene as the special referee. An Edge vs. Randy Orton rematch for the Intercontinental Title is also a possibility.
