WWE RAW Report (9/20/04) - Tucson, Arizona

Vince McMahon comes down immediately to start off RAW and welcomes us to the season premiere of the show. Without wasting any time, McMahon talks about the ground-breaking announcement he alluded to last week and calls out Eric Bischoff, who limps to the ring with the assistant of a cane. Vince suggests to Bischoff that they have "fan suggestion" not only for one match like Chris Jericho said last week, but for one whole night. What if the fans decided the type of matches, stipulations, what the divas will wear, who will face the champion - everything and the ultimate in fan interaction. Vince says instead of having it on a regular Sunday, he has set aside a Tuesday in October and decided to call it "Taboo Tuesday".

Bischoff says on paper this is a great idea but in reality, you don't want to do this. The fans rely on the RAW GM to make the right decisions. Bischoff suggests Vince to sleep on this idea but McMahon thinks Eric is just trying to patronize him. There's a reason why Bischoff is the GM of RAW and there's a reason why he's not the GM of NITRO. Vince knows that Eric is feeling left out of Taboo Tuesday because all the power he had has been transferred to the fans. There's no reason to even have a GM but Vince will not let him down. As a matter of fact, Bischoff won't be the GM at Taboo Tuesday but rather an active wrestler. Bischoff starts to whine saying that the fans shouldn't decide his opponent but Vince says he has already decided on an opponent. He's injured right now but he's here and with that, he introduces Eugene, who comes out waving to the fans.

Vince then shifts to the stipulations of the match and starts running through scenarios like the loser wearing a dress or having his head shaved bald. Bischoff goes on the defensive and pleads with Eugene, saying Vince wants a nephew to fight his uncle...and that he could never fight Eugene. Bischoff says he knows that Eugene doesn't want to hurt his uncle and he tells Eugene that he loves him and that after they tell Vince they don't want to fight, they can go out and get some ice-cream. What do you say Eugene, asks Bischoff and Eugene responds by hugging him. Bischoff turns around to taunt Vince but when he turns back, Eugene clocks him. Eugene then proceeds to hug and kiss Vince.

Stacy Keibler & Victoria vs. Trish Stratus & Molly Holly
-Molly gets occupied trying to beat up Victoria, who isn't even in the ring, and this allows Stacy to roll her up for the pinfall victory.

Coming up after the commercial break will be an update on Lita.

Backstage, Randy Orton is reading a magazine when Vince McMahon approaches him and says reality sucks. One day, you're on top of the world as the youngest champion in WWE history and the next day, it's all gone. Orton says he knows that it's his destiny to defeat Triple H the next time they wrestle. Vince says he will have an opportunity at Taboo Tuesday because it will be the fans who decide who will face Triple H. Orton tells Vince that his match tonight will end with wrestling's three sweetest letters: RKO.

We see Superstar Billy Graham in the audience.

Backstage, Gene Snitsky gives an interview. He said he is not to blame for the accident with Lita. JR asks him if he feels any remorse and Snitsky harshly says it's not his fault and asks JR if he has any more questions. Ross says no.

Todd Grisham is at the hospital where Lita has been all week fighting to save her baby. After the next match, Kane will provide an update.

Hurricane vs. Tajiri
-Tajiri counters a Hurricane inverted DDT and rolls him up for the victory.

At the hospital, a sombre looking Kane says that this hasn't been one of Lita's better days. The doctors are doing everything they can do but now they are saying that there is only a 50-50 chance that the baby will be saved. Grisham tells Kane that Gene Snitsky says the accident wasn't his fault. Kane gets very angry and says it wasn't an accident. What did he expect to happen? Kane says that no matter what happens Snitsky is a dead man.

Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho
-Christian comes down to do some color commentary but ends up interfering in the match. Michaels sends him flying to the outside and finally, the referee kicks Christian out and to the back as we go to commercial. When we come back, Michaels is in control but Jericho finds an opening and hits the Lionsault. He crawls on Shawn but can only get a two count. He tries again for another two. Moments later, Jericho locks on the Walls of Jericho but has to break the hold when Tyson Tomko runs down. Jericho kicks Tomko but turns around to walk right into the Sweet Chin Music. Michaels takes forever crawling over to Jericho but before the ref even starts the count, Christian runs through the audience into the ring and attacks Shawn. Tomko joins him and the two of them beat Jericho and Shawn up.

At the hospital, Todd Grisham tells us that there is some sort of emergency with Lita as nurses and doctors are running everywhere. A nurse kicks Todd out but the camera man is allowed to stay of course and eventually we hear Kane yell in anger...

Backstage, Evolution speaks. Triple H seems upset and it's all because of Vince's announcement of Taboo Tuesday. He has the world title and you sure as hell don't let the fans decide who he has to face. Triple H believes that Vince thinks that this will light a fire under Orton and he'll go out tonight to prove to the fans that he's the man. Flair assures Triple H that he's the greatest heavyweight champion of all-time and tonight, Evolution will put every disbeliever to rest because as a great man once said: We are that damn good.

They recap the entire RAW Diva search competition.

Sylvain Grenier vs. Maven
-Maven rolls up Grenier with an inside cradle and gets the pinfall.

Back at the hospital, Todd Grisham is standing by with two doctors. They say that Lita is in stable condition but unfortunately they have lost the baby. Before he can say much more, an angry Kane comes out and starts huffing and puffing in the doctor's face. He grabs another doctor before slamming his fists against the wall and yelling "noooo!" He goes into Lita's room and we finally see her, apparently in a daze.

Another promo for Simon Dean airs.

When we come back from commercial, Jim Ross wishes Lita and Kane his condolences for losing their baby.

Jonathan Coachman announces the final two women in the RAW diva search, one of which will be crowned as the winner tonight. Coach says that regardless of who wins, both of them have made an enemy for life based on their actions last week. Before Coach can announce the winner, Trish Stratus' music hits out comes the women's champion. Trish comes out and makes fun of the two girls for a bit and then tells them that there will be an initiation party next week for the winner. Finally, the Coach announces Christy as the winner of the search and $250,000. Christy says she's really proud and ready to take on the WWE. She tells the other diva wannabes that it's all about the energy and that it's all natural. Coach then interviews Carmella, who says she is disappointed but she's happy with the experience.

Up next, Randy Orton, Shelton Benjamin and Chris Benoit team up to take on The Evolution.

Evolution vs. Shelton Benjamin, Chris Benoit & Randy Orton
-Benoit hits a flying headbutt on Flair but the rest of Evolution runs in for the save and the match quickly degenerates into a brawl-for-all. Orton and Triple H go at it outside where Orton misses an RKO and is greeted by a running clothesline by Batista. Benoit and Benjamin check on Orton, who apparently is unconscious as we head to commercial. When we come back, we're informed that Orton has been taken to the back, still unconscious, making it a handicap match for all intents and purposes. Benjamin is isolated but eventually makes the hot tag to Benoit who suplexes all members of Evolution. He puts the Sharpshooter on Flair but Batista runs and hits a spinebuster to break it up. Out of nowhere, Benjamin flies in and clotheslines Batista to the outside so Triple H pushes Flair to their corner. Suddenly, Randy Orton runs in and nails Triple H before hitting the RKO on Flair for the victory.

End of show.
