WWE Smackdown! Report (9/30/04) - Taped in Wichita, Kansas

Report by: pwinsider.com

A graphic is shown of the late Ray "Big Bossman" Traylor. Rest in peace, big man.

Smackdown! opens with it's new intro. Somehow I feel like it's setting up a Saturday morning highlight show, but it is in fact Smackdown!, so lets get to it.

Kurt Angle comes to the ring. Michael Cole and Tazz hype the match for No Mercy this Sunday on PPV. Angle goes over delivering his promise that he would present Smackdown! with a memorable moment last week. They recap last week's main event ending with the shaving of Big Show's head.. Angle then says Big Show should've seen this coming since he choke slammed Angle off a balcony back in May of this year. He also remarked the picture he took last week with a shaved Big Show will be in his Christmas cards this year. Nice. He then introduces Luther Reigns and Mark Jindrak. They come to the ring with locks of Big Show's hair in plastic baggies. Shortly after this, Theodore Long comes out and says Angle is talking trash because he knows the Big Show isn't there tonight. The fans boo. Teddy then goes on to say that at No Mercy, Jindrak and Reigns will not be in Kurt's corner, and if anyone interferes in the match on Sunday, they will be fired.

Cole and Tazz then announce that tonight's main event is Mark Jindrak and Luther Reigns taking on Eddie Guerrero and a mystery partner.

::Commercial break::

Cole and Tazz put over the fact that WrestleMania 21 sold out in less than a minute. We then get Dawn Marie making her way to the broadcast booth (No school girl outfit this week. I can hear the ratings drop.) They then show highlights from her match last week. Well maybe they weren't highlights, but you get the drift.

Dawn Marie then announces that Charlie Haas and Miss Jackie are engaged and Tazz and Cole are shocked. (Hey fellas, try hanging around Jackie and not falling in love, eh?). Haas and Rico then come to the ring with the smokin' hot Miss Jackie. Their opponents tonight are the Dudley Boys.
Haas and Rico vs The Dudley Boys
During the match, Dawn Marie goes on and on about Haas and insinuating that they have been intimate with each other (Again, try hanging around Dawn and not falling love, eh?). Bubba Ray takes early control of Haas. Haas comes back with a hip toss and a few dropkicks. Rico tags in and rolls around the ring with Bubba and ends up behind him in the usual lewd manner. Bubba makes the tag to D-Von, D-Von shoves Rico towards Bubba on the outside and Rico's face lands at Bubba's waist. Bubba tags back in and delivers a neckbreaker to Rico and then knocks Haas off the apron. Dawn gets up and tends to Charlie and Miss Jackie (Soon to be Mrs. Jackie, right?) yells at Dawn. D-Von gets Rico in a standing headlock during this, but fights back, hits a superkick, and gets the tag to Haas. Haas hits Bubba with a forearm, then a suplex. Nails D-Von with a back bodydrop and gets a near fall. Dawn then throws a shoe at Miss Jackie and they begin to fight. Rico tries to separate them and Haas is distracted enough to get caught in a 3-D. 1-2-3, the Dudleys get the duke

Winners: The Dudleys

Dawn and Miss Jackie continue to fight (thanks God!) until they are separated by Rico and the referee. They then begin hype for the U.S title match at No Mercy.

Josh Matthews is standing in the back with Cena and asks if Cena has a rap for Booker T. and No Mercy. Cena says no, but he has a rap for Josh. Josh gets excited, but then Cena tells him no rap for him either and shoves him offscreen (Feeling that Rock and Coach magic??) Cena cuts a promo on Booker and says the U.S title is his this Sunday at No Mercy.
They then announce that later tonight we will get Hardcore Holly vs JBL.
As they are about to go to commercial, Paul Heyman comes out screaming up at the Smackdown! display. Heidenreich is up there screaming and Heyman tells him not to do anything.

::Commercial break::

After the break, Heidenreich says he wants to share another masterpiece (Unless it's barbecue sauce, keep walkin'). He begins a poem about love and hate, a journey through hell, and him feeling pain (Yes ladies and germs, this poem has been brought to you by Hendenreich). The fans continue to boo.

The Last Ride match is then hyped for this Sunday. We are shown a pre-taped promo by the Deadman. He is by a hearse and says that JBL will be taking his last ride and will rest in peace. Josh Matthews then talks to JBL. JBL says he is looking for Orlando Jordan. JBL then says he's not scared and mentions that even though Undertaker has beaten Randy Savage, The Rock, HHH, Bret Hart (When was this pal?? A house show in Parts Unknown??), and he retired Hulkamania (the same Hulkamania that was retired by Yokozuna, Brock Lesnar, and Mr. McMahon??) he is not afraid. He then says he'll send a message to UT by destroying Hardcore Holly to which Hardcore Holly pops up and nails JBL to the ground and says "Your plan has just started!" Tell 'em Bob.

::Commercial Break::

Booker T. heads to the ring. We are shown a briefing from last week's match against Paul London. They mention how Booker T. busted London's nose (Do you realize how much trouble Booker would be in if Paul London was married to Stephanie??). We get a rematch tonight and London tears his way down to the ring. A wwe.com exclusive is shown from last week with Paul London calling Billy Kidman a quitter. Match begins.

Booker T. vs Paul London
Booker starts off pounding away at London and then lands a few chops. London fights back and hits a dropsault on Booker. Billy Kidman then shows up at the top of the ramp. London nails Booker T. with a kick and notices Kidman. London then goes to the top, misses with a 450 and bangs his nose in the process. Booker gets him up, scissors kick, and this one is history.

Winner: Booker T.

After the match, Booker goes under the ring and grabs a steel chair and climbs back in the ring. Kidman runs down to the ring and steals the chair from Booker. As Booker leaves the ring, Kidman nails London with the chair from behind and yells at him. The fans boo Kidman.
The main event for tonight is hyped again, but coming up next is JBL vs Hardcore Holly. And a commercial for Angle-Big show at No Mercy is shown

::Commercial Break::

Back from commercials and we get a montage of all of the Carlito Caribbean Cool promos and his debut is announced for next week. Make daddy proud, Carlito.

JBL comes to the ring, still looking for Orlando Jordan. Hardcore Holly then makes his entrance and we're off!!

JBL vs Hardcore Holly
JBL backs Holly into the corner and cheap shots him. Holly then comes back with some shoulderblock takedowns. JBL fires back with thumb to the eye and it's good for a two count. JBL then hammers and chops away at Holly until Holly clotheslines JBL over the top rope to which the fans applaud. Holly goes outside to work on JBL and goes to irish whip him into the steel steps, but JBL reverses. He then rams Holly's head into the steps. Hardcore Holly chants start up as he heads back into the ring where JBL is on the top rope. Holly catches him and gets a near fall. Suplex by Holly and a two count. Holly then yells at ref Nick Patrick. JBL then takes back control and puts Holly on the top rope. He chops away at him and then goes for a superplex. Holly fights him off, knocks him off the top rope, and hits him with a clothesline from the top rope. 1-2......another near fall for Holly. A world-famous dropkick by Holly and another near fall. Holly then gets caught coming off the ropes and JBL lands a fallaway slam. JBL signifies the end and goes for a powerbomb, but Holly reverses, and delivers an Alabama Slam to JBL and JBL rolls out of the ring. Then.............

::Commercial Break::

Back now, but during the break Holly went to the outside and JBL nailed him with the steel steps. JBL continues to beat down Holly and go to town on the cut on his head. JBL then gets DQ'ed for not letting up on Holly.

Winner: Hardcore Holly by DQ

JBL then hits Holly with the steps again and then throws him on the announce table. After hitting Holly some more, Holly falls on the ground and JBL grabs a chair while Tazz and Cole split. JBL nails Holly with the chair and then tosses him back in the ring, and Cole and Tazz mosey back on over to their table. He then gives Holly the Clothesline From Hell and starts mimicking the Undertaker. Our WWE champ then gets on the mic and says nothing will stop him from ending Undertaker's career. At that point, the lights go out and UT's music hits. UT appears on the screen and says that he has three down so far, Gangrel, Viscera, and....Orlando Jordan. We then see an unconscious Orlando Jordan hung from the ceiling on the Undertaker's symbol. UT says only JBL is left and he should prepare for his last ride.

::Commercial Break::

Still to come Eddie Guerrero and a mystery partner vs Luther Reigns and Mark Jindrak

The F.B.I then take to the ring and Nunzio is in action against the Boss. I think that Springsteen had a previous engagement, so Spike Dudley, the Cruiserweight champ, will be in action instead. This is a non-title match and the Dudleys are at ringside.

Spike Dudley vs Nunzio
Lock up to start things off, then a headlock by Nunzio. Spike manages to get his feet on the top rope, and Nunzio drops him on the canvas. Back up, Spike slams Nunzio. Then again and gets a two count. Nunzio then takes Spike down, Spike reverses and then his head hits the bottom rope. The Dudleys meanwhile are trying to distract the ref as Spike gets Nunzio back down in a headlock. Nunzio escapes, sends Spike into the ropes and gets a headbutt to the midsection, Spike covers, and gets a two count. Nunzio then gets a rollup on Spike, but Spike kicks out at two. Spike then gets Nunzio in the corner, pounds away at him and then does his trademark bootstomp on the chest. Spike then starts choking Nunzio on the ropes as Johnny The Bull argues with Bubba outside. Spike works on Nunzio some more until Nunzio powers up, delivers a few elbows to Spike's midsection and nails with a back suplex. Spike then goes into the corner and Nunzio knocks him down and gets ready to give him the Sicillian Slice. D-Von interrupts and The Bull takes D-Von off the apron. Bubba trips Nunzio as he's coming off the ropes and then Spike pins Nunzio, but gets reversed, 1-2-3!!!!

Winner: Nunzio

JBL-Undertaker commercial for No Mercy

::Commercial Break::

RAW Rebound is then shown. And then Tazz and Cole talk about the Big Show-Kurt Angle match at No Mercy.
We then see the Big Show standing in darkness and says he was helpless last week and it wasn't about his hair, it was about Angle humbling him. Show then says that Angle made a mistake by leaving him breathing (I guess Angle should've thought of using the Concrete Crypt after he shaved Big Show's head!). Light appaears on Show's eyes and then he says there will be no mercy this Sunday for Angle.

::Commercial Break::

Casting special snippet shown for Tough Enough which Michael Cole says will start in a few weeks. Looks like a bunch of losers to me, but you never know. The next Chris Nowinski could be right over the horizon.

Reigns and Jindrak head to the ring. It's main even time baby!! Guerrero comes out in his low rider and then waves for his partner to come out. Guerrero is then joined by...............Mr. Thursday Night, Rob Van Dam!!!! No Velocity for RVD this week, my friends!!

Luther Reigns and Mark Jindrak vs Eddie Guerrero and Rob Van Dam
Battle begins and all four men are going at it. RVD tosses Jindrak over the top rope and then flies on top of him on the outside. Guerrero and Reigns start off in the ring. Guerrero goes for the 3 amigos, put only makes it to one as Reigns blocks the second and goes for a powerslam to which Eddie escapes and tags out to RVD. RVD knocks down Reigns and hits the Five-Star Frog Splash. He pins, but Jindrak saves his partner. And then................................

::Commercial Break::

Jindrak starts to work on RVD. RVD turns the tide, gives Jindrak a boot to the face, heads to the second rope and comes down on Jindrak, good for a two count. Jindrak answers back with a few shots until RVD hits a clothesline. He then tags in Eddie who leaps over the top rope onto Jindrak followed by an RVD rolling thunder.. After Jindrak regroups, he gets Eddie in the corner. But Eddie fights out chopping away at Jindrak and then locking him in an abdominal stretch. Meanwhile he taunts Luther Reigns into the ring as Eddie and RVD double team Jindrak. Jindrak then starts to fight back again and gets a two count on Eddie. He flips Guerrero into a headlock and then Eddie fights back and takes Jindrak down and tags RVD in. RVD hits a spinning leg drop and pins. 1-2-....................two count only as Jindrak kicks out. RVD then lands a kick on Jindrak and then is thrown to the outside by Luther when he climbs to the top rope. RVD gets back in, Jindrak covers and gets a two count. Luther tags in and his a double underwing suplex and gets a two count for his efforts. Luther then applies a bearhug, RVD escapes, comes off the ropes and gets leveled by a spinebuster. That's good for a two count as well. Jindrak tags in and hits RVD with some kicks and a slam. Then hits him with 3 elbows and gets a two count. He gets RVD in a headlock, then tags out to Luther. Luther smashes RVD into the turnbuckle, then jabs him and knocks Eddie off the apron. He goes for the pin, but Eddie interrupts. While the ref is distracted by Eddie, Jindrak and Reigns choke RVD with help from the ropes. Tag in to Luther who delivers a backbreak to Van Dam. Two count. He applies his knee to the back of RVD. RVD then fights out with elbows and a kick to the head of Luther followed by a thrust kick. RVD tags out and Eddie comes in with a dropkick on Luther, who tagged out to Jindrak and then lands a clothesline on Jindrak. Jindrak goes into the ropes and Eddie comes off with a flying leg scissors. Then a head scissors armdrag to Luther and Jindrak. Eddie then lands the 3 Amigos on Jindrak and hits the Five-Star Frog Splash. 1-2-....................................Luther hits the ring and breaks up the count. RVD then comes in with a jumping leg lariat to Jindrak while Luther hits his swinging neck break finisher on Eddie. RVD then clotheslines Luther to the outside and follows after him. Jindrak gets the cover on Eddie in the ring, 1-2-3!!!!!

Winners: Mark Jindrak and Luther Reigns

Eddie is then show in the ring staring at Reigns as he makes his way up the entrance ramp.

A video is then shown for No Mercy that highlights all of the matches that will take place this Sunday on PPV with some sensitive nu-metal band playing in the background. But it was still a cool piece and should be done for every PPV.

And for another week, hombres, Smackdown! leaves the air.
