WWE RAW Report (10/4/04) - New York City, New York

WWE RAW Report
Aired LIVE! From New York City, NY
October 4th, 2004
Reported by: The Worm, rajah.com RAW reporter

College has started back up, Monday nights are free, and therefore, The Worm has come back to Monday Night RAW! I'll continue to bring you the best RAW coverage every week and I hope you enjoy!

RAW opens by recapping Flair's speech to Orton stating that he can not call himself the Legend Killer until he beats the Nature Boy. Orton then comes out and gives his spiel about Ric Flair is always kissing Triple H's ass and if he is The Man, then he shouldn't be doing stuff like that.

During Orton's match against Batista, we see Triple H and Ric Flair come down to the ring. Ric Flair takes the steel chair away from Triple H, and just as you think Flair has seen the light, Flair screws Randy Orton and costs him his chances as a pick for Triple H's opponent at Taboo Tuesday.

Evolution's music hits and it's Triple H and Ric Flair making their way down to the ring in suits.

(Notable sign: The heads of the remaining Evolution members in a toilet and a message that says "Please flush")

Ric Flair wants to clarify something. Last week, he came out to the ring and he said that Triple H was the greatest wrestler alive (*cough*bullshit*cough). Flair was wrong, he wants you to understand...he meant that he is the greatest wrestler of all time and he is the only man in the business who can say that. Flair says Orton is not here tonight because Bischoff has barred him from the arena for safety reasons.

Orton will never be a legend. He proceeds to belittle HBK and Foley's legend status. When you look at Flair, you see a legend. When you look at Orton, you see a virgin. He asks do you know how many virgins I've made holler, scream, bleed all night long? It'll be Orton vs. Flair at Taboo Tuesday, but there's a slight problem. Some genius has come up with an idea to let the fans decide what type of match they'll have. It'll either be a Falls Count Anywhere, Submission, or a Cage match (watch, I just know the "fans" will pick the Cage).

It's Triple H's turn on the stick. Taboo Tuesday, eh? What is deemed as the most revolutionary concept of PPV history, the first interactive PPV ever is gonna be a complete disaster. There is no way to rely on people like us (the fans) to make the decisions. Like any election, it could come down to one vote and let him get that straight, he's supposed to rely on the fans to make those decisions? This whole thing could come down to 16 year old, pimple faced kid who is still holding a grudge because his mom 20 years ago took a ride on Space Mountain? That kid is gonna decide the fate of a legend like Ric Flair? You people like that? You like the fact that you can decide what will happen to the Nature Boy? You like the fact that you get to decide the fate of The Game? You like the fact that you like the power? To quote an overrated actor: "It doesn't matter what you like!" I am qualified that Taboo Tuesday is a joke. It is a sham...(Jericho's music hits)

Jericho makes his way out and stops on the ramp with a mic in hand and the IC title around his waist. Attention viewers, do not adjust your set. This is not a repeat! This ain't Tuesday, it's Monday. This is NYC, baby! And this is RAW is Jericho! But it seems to him that Triple H is a little uncomfortable with the whole concept. But it's not a big deal. Everyone can make a choice, and it's time for a little poll:

Who here thinks that Triple H is the greatest wrestler today? (Crowd boos)
Who here thinks that Triple H is the greatest wrestler of all time? (Crowd boos)
Who here thinks that Triple H is the greatest horse's ass of all time? (Crowd cheers)

If Triple H wants to keep complaining, then take your show on the road. If you wanna know who came up with the Taboo Tuesday idea, it was Jericho. He's the one who inspired Vince McMahon to go through with it. It's also Jericho who will enjoy seeing Triple H lose his belt, you sanctimonious son of a bitch.

Flair takes the mic and does a whole shouting speech about how he wants Y2J to come down and learn some respect. Jericho heads backstage and Flair calls him a coward. He has spoke too soon as Y2J comes back out with a steel chair in hand. However, before he can get into the ring, Batista assaults him from behind and it's time for a good ol' fashioned Evolution ass whooping.

It's not too long before Benoit comes to make the save, but even he can't fight all three men off. This time it's Edge making the save as he goes after Triple H (I thought he was a heel?). He spears Triple H and it's the good guys standing in the ring as Edge holds the World Heavyweight Championship over his head.

It's time for our very first commercial break, and the WWE Slam of the Week features HBK superkicking Tomko while Christian rolls HBK up from behind to pick up the win.

Backstage, The Coach is interviewing Christian, who is getting ready for his match with HBK. He then proceeds to diss MSG and HBK. Coming up next will be Captain Charisma taking on the Heartbreak Kid.

Match #1 (Singles) - Shawn Michaels vs. Christian (w/ Tyson Tomko):

The bell rings and I'm sure this will be a match for the ages. Christian taunts HBK, to which HBK slaps him. HBK knocks Christian down and goes for a pin, but Christian quickly kicks out. HBK chops Christian down and goes for a pin, but he kicks out. HBK puts Christian in a side headlock takeover. Christian works his way back up and tries to back suplex him, but HBK isn't moving. Christian tries to roll HBK over, but HBK keeps the move latched on.

Once again, Christian works his way up and this time he gets out of it by grabbing HBK's hair and slamming him down. Christian works HBK in a corner with punches and then whips him. HBK comes back with a Lou Thesz Press and then proceeds to chop him down . Christian whips HBK and connects with an elbow. Christian chokes HBK with his foot while grabbing the ropes and then throws him into the turnbuckle.

HBK is hurting, but as he gets up, Christian proceeds to give him an ass-whipping in the corner. He whips HBK and as he charges, HBK moves causing Christian to straddle the ringpost. HBK goes for the Sweet Chin Music, but Tomko pulls Christian out of harm's way.

On the outside, HBK connects with a swinging neckbreaker on Christian and he takes out Tomko with the SCM as we go to commercial.

Returning to RAW, Christian is back in control with a rear chinlock locked on HBK. During commercial, Tomko was assisted to the back by referees after suffering a sweet SCM from HBK. My cellphone is ringing, so I'll be back in a minute.

I missed the call, but Christian is back in charge of HBK as he chokes HBK on the middle rope. HBK fires back with punches and chops, but Christian slams down on his neck. Christian is whipped, but he kicks HBK in the chest. HBK is taken down with a neck breaker on Christian's knee. HBK is trying to fight back, but Christian connects with a backbreaker. HBK kicks out of the pin attempt and as HBK is whipped, both men are taken down by shoulder blocks.

Christian is the first up and the two exchange blows. HBK is whipped, and he connects with a flying forearm. HBK kips up and he is on fire. HBK goes for the 10 punches in the corner and whips Christian to the opposite corner. Christian is trying for the Unprettier, but HBK counters it into a rolling clutch pin. Christian kicks out and he tries the Unprettier again, and he manages to get it after a third try when HBK counters out of the second. Christian goes for the pin, but HBK miraculously kicks out at 2.

Christian slowly gets up and takes HBK down with an elbow. He goes up top, but HBK recovers and the two exchange blows. HBK back drops Christian off the top and he connects with his trademark elbow drop. It's time once again for the SCM and it connects and it's HBK picking up the pinfall victory.

Winner: Shawn Michaels

Commercial Break

Backstage, Lita is seen with Todd Grisham and they discuss the recent happenings (I'm talking to my mom on the phone, so I can't really hear what they're saying). She is upset that Snitsky caused her to lose her baby and she is pissed off that Snitsky says that it isn't his fault. She only got into the ring because she didn't want to see any more people hurt. She doesn't love Kane, but she hopes he does exactly what he says he's gonna do. Snitsky is a dead man walking..

We then see Bischoff talking to someone, and he comes to an agreement as they shake hands. The mystery man will be in the ring later tonight and he is then interrupted by The Coach. (The Coach hints that the person is female). The Coach is supposed to get Eugene, but he sticks around as he has a problem since he'll be interviewing Snitsky and Kane is also there tonight so things can get a little volatile. Bischoff sees his point and assigns JR to do the interview instead as we go to commercial.

Gene Snitsky Interview:

Gene Snitsky makes his way down to the ring with a stroller in hand.

Before JR can start, Snitsky interrupts him and pantomimes that the baby is sleeping. Snitsky continues to say that what happened wasn't his fault and before JR can start again, Kane's music hits and he's standing on the stage. He quickly makes his way down to the ring, and Snitsky throws the stroller at him. Snitsky beats Kane down with a steel pipe and you can tell he was prepared.

Snitsky proceeds to choke the life out of Kane with the pipe and Kane is bleeding from the forehead. Snitsky exits the ring unscathed and Kane is laying helpless and bleeding in the ring as we go to commercial.

JR and the King recap the recent happenings and during the break, Kane is seen stumbling up the ramp.

Match #2 (Singles) - Chris Benoit vs. Batista (w/ Ric Flair):

Okay, is it just me or does Evolution appear to be a weak faction? I mean, every time an Evolution member has a match, it seems like they're always bringing backup. Can't any one of them win a match on their own, without outside interference or foreign objects?

They lock up and Batista backs Benoit into the corner. Benoit shoves Batista, and Batista charges only to be met with a quick Crossface. Batista wriggles out of it and gets back into the ring. Batista kicks Benoit in the gut and works him over in a corner with gut punches.

Batista whips Benoit, and Benoit baseball slides under Batista to deliver a dragon screw (leg lace takedown, according to JR). Benoit chop blocks Batista on the outside and he tosses him back in. Batista shoves Benoit down a couple of times and then delivers a hard spinebuster.

Batista stomps on Benoit followed by knees to the back. Batista picks up Benoit and delivers an obviously weak backbreaker (Batista pulls his leg back in before he even hits the move). Benoit counters out and he tries for the Sharpshooter, but Batista powers out. Batista tries to charge after Benoit, but Benoit moves and delivers the rolling Germans.

He signals for the flying headbutt, but Batista recovers. Benoit turns around and connects with two more Germans. Flair tries to get involved, but Benoit knocks him off the apron. Benoit tries to cinch in the Crossface, but Batista powers out and throws Benoit out of the ring. Flair delivers a low blow and throws him into the ringpost.
Benoit rolls back in and Batista sets him up for the Batista Bomb, but at this time Randy Orton decides to make a surprise appearance as he attacks Batista and Flair, but causes a disqualification in the process.

Winner by DQ: Batista

Bischoff comes out with security and security tries to restrain Orton, but Batista and Flair run up the ramp and attack Orton from behind.

Commercial Break

Bischoff is in the ring and he says that Orton has been thrown out of the building. As long as he's out here, it's time for a Taboo Tuesday update. Bischoff hates the idea, but he wants to make sure it's done right. He announces that Gene Snitsky will face Kane and he's decided that it'll be a Weapon of Choice match. The fans can choose if it'll be a lead pipe, a steel chair, or a steel chain. Whichever weapon is chosen, that weapon will be legal in that match.

He then announces that every RAW superstar who is not involved in a match at Taboo Tuesday will get to be on the ballot as the fans choose who'll face Y2J for the IC title.

The next thing on his mind is his match against Eugene. He calls out Eugene and after a moment, his music hits and the ever good natured Eugene makes his way down to the ring. He takes the ropes to wave at the crowd and then Bischoff tells Eugene that someone backstage has a crush on him. She wants to come out to meet him tonight and he's sure Eugene doesn't wanna meet her. Eugene shakes his head that he does wanna meet her, and it's Carmella DeCesare making her way out (why keep her around? She obviously doesn't care about the WWE).

Bischoff then mentions at Taboo Tuesday it'll be Carmella DeCesare vs. Christy Hemme. He also mentions that Carmella was in Playboy. She's here tonight to tell Eugene how much she likes him. She then proceeds to comment on Eugene's phyisque (totally devoid of any charisma), except for one thing. She likes bald men, so if Eugene were bald, he'd be perfect.

Bischoff basically wants Eugene to throw his match at Taboo Tuesday so Carmella can be his girlfriend. Eugene will do it on one condition, he wants Carmella to kiss him right now. Eugene puckers up, but Carmella refuses to kiss him. Eugene then says that he wants to see Carmella's boobies! Carmella refuses to do it because the fans and Eugene are not in the same league as she is. She's a former Playboy Playmate of the Year....Bischoff apologizes for having lied to Eugene, but Carmella isn't the only one who doesn't like Eugene...nobody likes Eugene!

Christy's music hits and the uninhibited redhead makes her way down to the ring. They stare each other down and I'm ready to see a bitch fight. Christy shoves Carmella down, but Bischoff separates the two before they can go at it. Christy consoles Eugene, even planting a kiss on Eugene's lips. That's not all...Christy leaps into Eugene's arms and they begin to make out (Lucky bastard). Eugene is left speechless and wide-eyed, but they leave the ring together as we go to another commercial.

We return to RAW just in time to hear Sylvain Grenier once again butcher the Canadian national anthem. He actually finishes it before Hurricane & Rosey make their way out to the ring.

Match #3 (Tag Title) - La Resistance (C) vs. The Hurricane and Rosey:

The Hurricane and Conway start this match off as they lock up. Conway shoves The Hurricane into the corner. They lock up again and Hurricane is caught in a headlock. Conway takes Hurricane down with a shoulder block and Hurricane stops his momentum with a "Whassup wit dat?" pose and a neckbreaker. Hurricane and Rosey hit a double leg drop and Hurricane goes up top, but Grenier slips him up.

Conway goes for a pin, but Hurricane slowly rolls the shoulder out. Conway wants a tag, but Hurricane is trying to keep him away. It's a test of strength, and Grenier runs in to take out Rosey. While the referee is distracted by Rosey, La Resistance hits the Au Revoir on Hurricane.

Winner: La Resistance

A livid Rosey proceeds to take it to La Resistance and his mask gets twisted in the process. Rosey inadvertently delivers the Gunn Stinger to the Hurricane and afterwards, the ref fixes his mask and Rosey attends to a hurt Hurricane.

We then see a clip of the WWE receiving an award from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Various wrestlers, including John Cena, HBK, The Rock, and so many others were on hand at the event.

Commercial Break

A Simon Dean vignette plays, where he disses fat people and plugs his training system. If you wanna learn more, call (203) 352-1587. (I hear the phone # plays a recording of Simon Dean's advertisement for his Simon System, a training thing that doesn't really exist).

Backstage, The Coach recaps Edge returning and he asks Edge why the fans should vote for him to be Triple H's opponent at Taboo Tuesday. Edge has never faced Triple H, while Benoit and HBK have faced him tons of times. He has never had any World title shots. Edge has paid his dues, he's a 10 time tag team champion and he has been through hell and back to get this chance to fight for the title. Out of everyone on the ballot, Edge is the only one who deserves it.

The RAW roster is backstage and Bischoff tells them about the possibility of facing Y2J for the IC title at Taboo Tuesday. He's gonna give them a chance to see Y2J up close and personal as they'll be serving as lumberjacks in Y2J's match against Triple H later tonight.

We also see Stacy getting ready for her match against Molly Holly, up next.

The WWE Rewind recaps Stacy winning her match for her team last week as we go to commercial.

[Note: Another thing I noticed tonight...are the production crew having problems? It seems like commercials are cut off and we always end up joining a segment of RAW already in progress. What gives?]

Trish Stratus joins the announce team at the table and it looks like it's time for the diva match. A clip of last week where Trish strips Christy down to her B&Ps plays and Trish proceeds to trash Christy, calling her a slut. (Comment: Trish makes a lousy heel)

Match #4 (Singles) - Stacy Keibler vs. Molly Holly:

My favorite diva is in action and I hope she puts Stacy in her place. Stacy should learn to leave the wrestling to actual wrestlers, that overrated bitch. Stacy bites Molly's pointing finger and she works Molly over in a corner. She chokes her out with her long legs. She then delivers a beale toss and Molly is finally in control as she delivers a snap suplex. Molly goes for the cover and DOH! Stacy kicks out. Molly chokes Stacy on the ropes. What is it with Trish and sluts? She have an infatuation with one or something? She's constantly mentioning sluts and their slutiness, so I guess somewhere deep inside, Trish is a slut too.

Back to the ring, Molly charges after Stacy in the corner, but crashes after Stacy steps out of the way. Trish leaves the table to go after Stacy, but Stacy fights her off. Molly tries to sneak in a win, ala Keibler, but she doesn't deserve to lose to a non-wrestler as Stacy counters the roll-up into a pin of her own for the win.

Winner: Stacy Keibler

(I know I'll get hate mail for dissing Stacy, but don't take my comments about her too seriously.)

Commercial Break

Main Event (Lumberjack) - Chris Jericho vs. Triple H:

Jericho ambushes Triple H before he can even take his belt off. He connects with a back drop and he clotheslines Triple H over the top. The face lumberjacks beat him down ad toss him back in. Jericho works Triple H over with chops and punches. Triple H is whipped, but Triple H kicks Jericho in the chest and throws him out of the ring (where is A-Train?). Jericho tries for the Walls early on, but opts to slingshot him into the turnbuckle. Jericho rolls Triple H up, but Triple H kicks out.

Jericho is still in control, but Triple H comes back as he tosses Jericho back out of the ring after reversing an irish whip. Triple H rams Jericho's head into the turnbuckle and then the two exchange blows. Triple H whips Jericho into a corner, but Jericho kicks out and connects with the running enziguiri.

Jericho tries for the Walls again, but this time Triple H powers out and Jericho falls over a low bridge. The lumberjacks decide to fight each other as Rhyno tosses Jericho back in. Jericho baseball slides Rhyno, thinking he attacked him. Jericho goes for the Lionsault, but lands on his feet. Jericho is distracted by Batista, allowing Triple H to go for the Pedigree. Jericho counters it into the Walls and this time locks it in. Jericho calls it off to deliver a springboard dropkick to Ric Flair. He goes up top and connects with a fearless dive on a group of lumberjacks to go after Flair.

He goes back up and connects with a reverse elbow off the top. The referee is distracted, allowing Rhyno to sneak in and score with the Gore. Triple H covers Jericho to get the pinfall victory.

Winner: Triple H

Post-match, all hell breaks loose as the lumberjacks take to the ring. Orton is back as he attacks everyone in sight, including Triple H and Batista. He RKOs Batista, followed by Sylvain Grenier, Christian, and Rosey. The Coach is thrown into the ring and is met with an RKO. That's it from Madison Square Garden, and next week, RAW will be live from Manchester, England for the first time ever!
