Raw House Show Report.
Hey guys I just got back from the Raw House Show in Cardiff, Wales, and I thought I would let you know what went down.
There was some kind of mix up at the start, because on the tickets it stated that the show was going to start at 5.30, but we got in there at about 5.00 and it had just started. As we got in the arena Stacy Kiebler was in the ring announcing some of the matches that were going to take place. A triple threat for the IC title between Edge, Christian and Chris Jericho. Also the main event, a six man tag match between Evolution and Orton, Michaels and Benoit. Stacy then got out of the ring and did her slowly bending over thing which absolutely loved.
Match one:
Rhyno & Taijiri Vs Hurricane & Rosey
This match started off with a bit of comedy. Taijiri was copying Stacy by bending over all the others just laughed at him. The match went back and forth; both teams got big pops, the match finished with Rhyno hitting the gore on Rosey. Good match got the crowd warmed up. After the match both teams shook hands and left together.
Match two:
Chuck Palumbo Vs Maven
Palumbo came out first to major heat. Maven followed and got a good pop. This match wasn’t the best and ended quite quickly. Maven picked up the win, although I didn’t see how due to one of my friends messing around. After the match Palumbo stayed in the ring for quite a while bad mouthing the crowd.
Match Three:
Trish & Molly Vs Victoria & Nidia
Next up it was time for the ladies. Trish teased the crowd by taking off her t-shirt and posing to throw it into the crowd only for her to put it back on. The faces then hit the ring and warmed up by doing a sexy dance to Victoria’s music. The heels responded by doing a ballet dance which didn’t go down with the crowd. Typical diva fight (short and sweet) The heels picked up the win with a double team on Victoria
Match four:
Shelton Benjamin Vs Val Venis
The crowd absolutely loved Venis. He did his usual towel routine and looked as if he was going to throw it into the crowd but then hung it in his corner. Benjamin hit the ring and threw the towel into the crowd (Massive pop) The fight took a while to get started as Val wouldn’t wrestle, eventually Benjamin picked up the win after landing an inverted power slam. Val stayed down for a while and had to be helped to the back by a referee.
Here there was a brief interval where Lillian Garcia announced that merchandise would be being sold at the stalls. Most of the crowd hit the stalls and I heard someone say that the Eugene t-shirts sold out in ten minutes.
Match five:
La Resistance Vs Regal & Eugene
This match was one of the best on the entire card I thought. La resistance started by singing the Canadian national anthem to a massive chorus of boos. They were cut off by Regal’s music, then Eugene’s. Eugene stole one of the heels flags and ran around the outside with it. He then went into the crowd and got a Welsh flag and did the same. This got probably the biggest pop of the night and started a very loud ‘Wales’ chant. Coach then hit the ring and told everybody he was the guest referee, the heels picked up the win with a quick count from the coach. After La resistance left, Eugene stunnered the coach and him and regal left to a very loud Cardiff crowd.
Match six:
Christian Vs Edge Vs Jericho
I would honestly say that this match was the best all night, yes better than the main event. All came out, Christian with Tomko who later got kicked out from ringside which the crowd loved. Christian cut a promo calling everybody who was there ‘sheep shaggers’, He also talked about yesterdays loss in soccer to England, he got major heat. Edge was in the ring for about one minute in total, he kept getting knocked to the outside (He must be injured because he really wasn’t in the match at all) Jericho hit the moonsalt and got a near fall but picked up the win when he put Christian in the walls of Jericho. Amazing match, Christian was awesome.
Match Seven:
Kane Vs Gene Snitsky
Snitsky cut his usual ‘It wasn’t my fault’ promo. Kane hit the ring and got a very loud pop. He sprinted to the ring and the match got going very quickly. After a bit of back and forth action, Snitsky hit the outside and got a chair (The crowd loved this) Kane took it off him and eventually threw the ref to the outside. The bell then rang and it was over. After the bell Kane put snitsky’s head in the chair but the referees came down and stopped his attack. Good match although a bit short.
Main Event:
Evolution Vs Orton, Benoit & Michaels
Everybody got a pop in this match apart from Batista. The crowd weren’t into him at all. This match probably went on for to long and there were a lot of comedy spots. Triple H and Flair both falling on their faces or as it’s been recently named ‘The Flair Flop’. Shawn Michaels pulling Triple H’s trunks down and he kept them down for a good 3-4 minutes. The crowd loved Flair and there were several ‘Whoo’ chants. Eventually the faces got the win with Orton hitting the RKO on Batista, the crowd loved this and at the end of the match everybody got to their feet.
Additional Notes:
As I said there was a mix up at the beginning. A lot of people missed the beginning of the show and I’m sure they wouldn’t have been happy.
Every time Lillian Garcia got into the ring to announce a match she got wolf whistled and basically harassed.
Earl Hebner got a massive, and I mean massive pop. He waved his hands in appreciation which was cool of him.
After the show finished a lot of people headed home, not me! I headed around to the back of the arena where a slight crowd had already begun to gather. After about 5 minutes of waiting a few members of the show came out to sign autographs which I thought was awesome. Val Venis, Rhyno, Taijiri, Maven and Eugene were the guys that I managed to get hold of. Someone stood behind me shouted ‘Hey Val, when is your next movie coming out?’ this got a big laugh and even Val himself smiled.
Eugene stayed in character and acted ‘dumb’ to the crowd. The rest were just cool and shook hands, signed autographs and Val even spoke to a little kid which I thought was great.
Overall it was a great show and I think the WWE should defiantly return next time they tour the UK. The crowd were hyped and seeing the superstars in real life is defiantly an amazing experience. That’s all, thanks guys,
