Sunday Night Heat Report-17th October 2004
Taped in Manchester England
By SMBV1 (Shaun Best)-Rajah.com Reporter
Hello there I’m SMBV1 back for another edition of Heat. I had a great time at Manchester this week as Raw was hot and Smackdown was better than I thought it would be depite the lack of FBI action. There is no other buzz like it and I recommend seeing WWE live. Anyway Heat was pretty good this week so on with the show. Jonathan Coachman & Todd Grisham are on Commentary & the lovely Lilian Garcia decked out in UK flagged top, short white skirt and white boots is the ring announcer as we go straight into
Shelton Benjamin vs Steven Richards
Manchester pops for Shelton but boos Stevie and it’s touched upon by Coach & Grisham how important this match is going into Taboo Tuesday as both men are on the ballot to face Chris Jericho and whoever loses will be dead in the fans eyes. I think that both could have a credible PPV type match with Y2J and it could even be a fresh new feud and Stevie did have a good match with Jericho not so long ago on Heat. Food for thought. Shelton and Stevie feel each other out from the lockup and Benjamin eventually takes Stevie down and traps him in an armbar which is broken when Stevie gets to the ropes. Stevie charges but gets trapped in another armbar takedown and Shelton works away at the left shoulder of Richards but again Richards wisely reaches the ropes, this time with his legs. Richards gets up berates Shelton, slaps his stomach and reminds him it’s his show but Shelton thwarts a clothesline attempt takes down Stevie and lays into him with punches to the head. Richards tries to crawl away to the outside but Shelton grabs one of his legs and brings him back into the ring, however Stevie grabs onto the ropes to bring himself to his feet, gets his balance and blasts Shelton with an enziguiri kick to the head.
Stevie kicks away at Shelton and delivers a neckbreaker and Manchester is booing Richards out of the building. Stevie drops down on Benjamin and gets a one count. Richards chokes Shelton in the ropes and connects with a baseball slide to the midsection but plays to the crowd again and that gives Shelton time to come back and punch Richards. Richards hits back though and slaps on a chinlock to keep Shelton grounded and suck the wind out of him. Manchester gets behind Shelton and a jawbreaker frees him from Richards’ grip, both men get back to their feet and Stevie knocks Shelton down with a blow to the back and signals for his Stevie Suplex. Shelton counters this with a neckbreaker and both men are now down and the ref is laying the count on. Stevie gets to his feet at seven but walks into Shelton’s punch/chop/kick combination followed by a clothesline, a back elbow off the ropes and a side Russian legsweep, 1-2 no Richards kicks out. Richards groggily retreats to the corner as Shelton sets up for the Shell Shocka Splash, Richards moves but Shelton manages to leap up and position himself on the top rope. Stevie turns around and Shelton hits him with a flying forearm off the top. Stevie goes to the corner again and Shelton tries for the splash again and this time he hits it and Richards is in trouble but it’s too late as he walks into a powerslam and Benjamin covers for the pinfall.1-2-3. Here is Your Winner: SHELTON BENJAMIN.
Coach & Grisham shill for Taboo Tuesday & Still to come it’s Diva Tag Team Action as it’s Molly Holly & Gail Kim vs Victoria & Nidia.

Taboo Tuesday Promo Airs.

Up Next The Divas Tag Team Match.

Molly Holly & Gail Kim vs Victoria & Nidia
Molly & Gail enter to boos but Victoria & Nidia get a rousing reception (get it) especially after the little dance display at the top of the ramp. I was mesmorised by Victoria and was in a euphoric trance for the rest of the match when I saw it live so I’ll try my best to recap the match now. Victoria was and is more over than Nidia and it’s going to be Victoria and Molly starting. They lockup and Molly hits a knee to the midsection and a blow to the back and an axehandle takes Victoria down. Victoria is whipped into the corner but she flips up and over Molly, armdrags her twice and bodyslams her to the canvas. Victoria shakes her thing and connects with a backflip but that only gets a two count. Victoria picks Molly up but she uses a rake to the eyes to escape and tags in Gail who charges at Victoria but she gets a powerslam for her troubles. Another cover but Gail kicks out straightaway and Victoria works the arm a little and tags in Nidia. Gail is the victim of a double hiptoss off the ropes and then a double elbow drop and another cover this time by Nidia but Gail kicks out at two. Nidia punches Gail into the ropes and slaps and kicks her and then hits a northern lights suplex but Gail kicks out at two. Molly seems to have distracted Nidia as both exchange words but Nidia stays focused and boots Gail to the midsection before hitting another Northern lights suplex but Molly enters and Victoria goes to do the same which distracts the ref and as he goes to usher Victoria out Molly kicks away at Nidia, beats her retreat and swings the momentum into her teams favour as Gail is now up and hits a big kick to the back of Nidia. Molly is now tagged in and she drops an axehandle and then elbows onto the back of Nidia, 1-2 kickout. Molly chokes Nidia in the ropes with her foot, Nidia tries to fight back with punches but Molly punches her back down and rains down with more blows to the back. Gail is tagged back in and Molly & Gail kick away at Nidia in their corner and Molly lies Nidia across the ropes before bringing her down across the knee of Gail and Nidia is hurting. Again Nidia tries fighting back but Gail throws her against the ropes and to the canvas and kicks her in the back a few times before dropping a knee to the same area followed by a boot. Molly is tagged in again and the attack is still concentrated on the back of Nidia. Molly applies a chinlock with her foot driven into the back of Nidia and the crowd get behind Nidia who responds by punching her way out of Molly’s hold but Molly stops Nidia by hitting a backbreaker across her knee. Molly slaps and kicks Nidia down to the canvas picks her up and plays to the crowd a little but Nidia surprises Molly with a rollup, two count only and Molly clotheslines Nidia to the mat. Molly sits on the back of Nidia and rakes away at the face on the canvas, twice punches her down and punches Victoria off the apron. Victoria tries to enter and the ref is distracted again, so Molly and Gail proceed to kick away at Nidia. Molly then whips Nidia into her corner attemps the flipping charge as Gail holds Nidia but nobody’s home as Nidia moves but she is still a bit away from her corner and Molly is right by hers. Nidia begins to crawl to her corner but Molly’s up and she grabs the leg but Nidia uses her other leg to kick her away and both divas make the tag. Victoria enters and takes Gail and Molly down with a series of clotheslines. Gail is whipped to the corner and walks into a sidewalk slam but Molly breaks up the pin attempt at two. Nidia enters to take down Molly and now all four divas are in. Nidia and Molly fight to the outside and back in the ring Victora blocks a roundhouse attempt by Gail twists around into what looks like a backslide attempt but instead Victoria hoists Gail up and hits the widow’s peak and that’s that. 1-2-3. Here are Your Winners: VICTORIA & NIDIA.
Later on Chuck Palumbo vs Tajiri.
Next Randy Orton calls out Ric Flair on Raw.
Don’t Try This At Home.
Highlights of Ric Flair/Randy Orton showdown from Raw. The less said of this the better. Can Orton carry the 183 year old pathetic Flair to a passable match at Taboo Tuesday??? Only ever one legend and that’s Bret Hart. Enough said.
Next Highlights of Christian/Tyson Tomko vs Rhyno/Chris Jericho from Raw.
Commercial.
Highlights of Christian/Tyson Tomko vs Rhyno/Chris Jericho from Raw. Rhyno & Jericho win via DQ when Batista runs in and destroys Jericho when Christian is locked in the Walls of Jericho. The IC Title Match for Taboo Tuesday is then hyped. Who will get the vote?
Still to come Chuck Palumbo vs Tajiri.
Up Next Highlights of Six Man Tag from Raw.
Taboo Tuesday Promo Airs Again.
Highlights of Edge, Benoit & HBK vs Evolution from Raw. Edge steals the pinfall on HHH away from HBK following Sweet Chin Music. Post Match Edge campaigns for a vote at Taboo Tuesday and then Michaels asks the crowd who they want to see face HHH at Taboo Tuesday but Edge spears him before he’s done. Bischoff announces Triple Threat Match for Raw this week and then Edge spears Benoit for good measure. Edge wasn’t well received at all in Manchester and got some good heel heat. He gets booed a lot more than he gets cheered nowadays so I think a full blown heel turn is needed along with a little change of image and definitely a change of finisher as the spear doesn’t look convincing enough. Taboo Tuesday Title Picture is then hyped by Coach & Grisham.
Commercial.
Chuck Palumbo vs Tajiri
Good to see Chuck as he’s one of my favourite performers but the rest of Manchester disagrees and they give him a negative reaction. Tajiri gets a big face pop and this is another match between two combatants vying for an IC Title shot at Taboo Tuesday. Tajiri and Chuck circle each other before locking up and Chuck immediately lifts Tajiri and rams him into the corner. Chuck attemps a bodyslam but Tajiri slips out behind him and hits a stiff kick to the back, Chuck winces and Tajiri continues his assault by unloading with a combination of punches and kicks to Chuck. Tajiri comes off the ropes, ducks a Chuck swing and takes him down with a tilt-a-whirl bodyscissors. Chuck retreats to the corner and Tajiri follows and lands kicks and elbows. Tajiri tries working the arm and Chuck reverses an irish whip to the corner and charges but Tajiri manages to lock in the tarantula. Tajiri eventually breaks the hold and Chuck is on his knees in the centre of the ring. Seeing this Tajiri attempts the kick of death but Chuck ducks, Tajiri attemps another kick but Chuck catches the leg reels him in and hits a massive clothesline taking Tajiri down. Chuck plays to the crowd to a chorus of boos as Tajiri lies felled on the canvas. Chuck picks Tajiri up and rams him into the corner and drives his head to the midsection reels him in again and connects with another clothesline. Chuck then boots Tajiri back down to the mat as he tries to rise back to his feet and repeats the procedure and again but Tajiri absorbs the blow and begins to fight back with punches and kicks but Chuck simply hits a spinning tornado punch and Tajiri is back on the canvas again. Chuck picks up Tajiri and puts him back down and lands a stiff kick of his own to the back of Tajiri and then one to the front for good measure as Tajiri is being picked apart here. Chuck goes for the cover but Tajiri manages to kick out at two. Chuck sits on top of Tajiri and gives off his best dentist impression as he stretches Tajiri’s mouth open and rams his fingers up his nose at the same time. Chuck then applies a standing crossface to the hapless Tajiri who tries to escape with back elbows and kicks. Chuck punches Tajiri in the back and whips Tajiri into the ropes but puts his head down too early and Tajiri kicks Palumbo in the head and comes off the ropes again and hits a bodypress, cover 1-2 Palumbo kicks out and takes Tajiri down with a clothesline. 1-2 Tajiri kicks out so Chuck puts the boots to Tajiri and he lands a kick to the back of his head and hits a knee to the face of the Japanese buzzsaw. Chuck re-applies the standing crossface and Tajiri knees his way out so Chuck punches him in the back again and irish whips him. Chuck charges but eats boot from Tajiri and is then taken down by a spinning heel kick and both men are down. Both are up at five and both exchange blows as Chuck punches Tajiri who responds with stiff kicks. Tajiri wins out but Chuck reverses a whip to the ropes. However, Tajiri comes back at Chuck with a springboard elbow off the ropes and hits a bulldog on Palumbo who kicks out at two following a pinfall attempt. Chuck gets in a knee to the midsection and attempts a suplex but Tajiri flips over but Chuck is ready and connects with a right hook that floors Tajiri who’s out. 1-2 no Tajiri gets out again and Chuck can’t believe it so he prods Tajiri and slaps him around whilst plotting his next move. Chuck whips him to the corner and charges, Tajiri tries to flip over again but Chuck catches him, a running powerslam no Tajiri wriggles free. Chuck charges misses a boot to the face, Tajiri takes aim and wham connects with a crescent kick ala HBK and Chuck falls like a tree hit by lightning. Tajiri covers and gets the pinfall. 1-2-3. Here is Your Winner: TAJIRI.
Grisham thanks us for watching. End of Show.
