Sunday Night Heat Report-24th October 2004
By Shaun Best-Rajah.com Reader
Welcome to another episode of Sunday Night Heat coming off an entertaining Taboo Tuesday. (Big Up to HBK). I am your host Shaun Best, Todd Grisham & The Coach are on commentary, Howard Finkel is the ring announcer. The Heat pyro goes off which leads us into…
Rosey vs Steven Richards
Coach reminds everyone that Rosey was one of the men he beat out of the voting at Taboo Tuesday as he makes his way to the ring while Grisham relays the resulting IC Poll to us, reminding us how Coach finished third behind Batista & Shelton Benjamin. Grisham thinks we voted Coach third because we wanted to see him get beat up while Coach thinks he finished third because people wanted to see him win the title. Hmmm, you decide. The GM of Heat comes out to boos and poses on the ropes before switching his attention to the superhero. Both combatants stare each other down as a Rosey chant breaks out in the arena and Stevie is seen muttering it’s my show as the chant has touched a nerve. Stevie applies a headlock from the lockup, Rosey uses his power to force him into the ropes and takes him down with a shoulderblock. Stevie gets up and retreats a little before another lockup leads to Stevie grabbing and attempting to work over the arm of Rosey. Rosey reverses and the force takes Stevie down. Rosey still holding on headbutts the arm of Richards, Stevie flips up, reverses, Rosey does the same and sweeps Stevie’s legs as Rosey shakes his finger at Stevie who is back in the corner looking on puzzled. Stevie quickly charges and boots Rosey in the gut, Rosey goes to the corner Stevie kicks the leg and lands a chop and charges from the other corner and connects with a splash and he then plays to the crowd but gets booed for his troubles. Rosey bides his time and takes him down with another shoulderblock before following up with a sitdown splash. Stevie gets up and slaps Rosey in the chest continuously in anger to no effect and Rosey shoves Stevie down before punching away and hitting a bodyslam off the ropes. Rosey attempts a spinning legdrop but Richards moves and Rosey lands awkwardly favouring the leg. Seeing this Richards goes to work on the leg, kicking away, Rosey tries to fend off Stevie and attempts to get up but Stevie keeps him grounded via a dropkick to the leg. Stevie punches the leg, drives his knee into it and pulls down the protective pad and continuously drives his knee into it. Stevie locks in a leglock, Rosey refuses to quit, escapes near falls but he can’t roll out as Stevie has it locked in. Rosey tries punching out and Stevie responds with a kick to the face and the leglock is still intact. Richards urges Rosey to give up, he refuses grabs the hair of Richards and finally punches out of his grasp. Rosey tries to get up but Richards rises first and kicks the leg and goes for the leglock again but Rosey uses his other foot to kick Stevie, who goes crashing into the buckles face first. Rosey’s up Stevie charges but is backelbowed down twice, clothesline to Richards, is followed by a back bodydrop off the ropes, Richards is in the corner and Rosey signals for a charge. Richards gets his feet up and Rosey eats boot, Richards goes to the second rope and jumps off, Rosey catches him and throws him down, and he goes to the second rope himself, comes off with a legdrop and that’s enough. 1-2-3. Here is Your Winner: ROSEY.

Rodney Mack w/Jazz vs Mike Mundo
Jazz is looking fine this week decked out in leather as she accompanies her man to the ring. A staredown doesn’t last long as Mack punks out Mundo and pie faces him. A Who’s the man shout out gets him boos from the crowd. Lockup, Mack backs Mundo into the corner, no clean break as Mack punks out Mundo again before backing off. Jazz feeds the ego by telling Mack he is the man and they both lockup again. Mack applies a side headlock, Mundo punches out, Mack into the ropes but Mundo is taken down by a shoulderblock followed by a little thuggin’ ‘n’ buggin’ by Mack which duly appeases Jazz on the outside. Mack slaps on another side headlock, Mundo again punches out and Mack goes into the ropes again blocks a hiptoss attempt and instead tries one of his own but Mundo lands on his feet and takes Mack down with an armdrag. Mack charges but receives another armdrag and another and Mundo grabs the arm but can’t work on it as Mack rises to his feet and punches his way out of Mundo’s grip. Mundo punches back which Mack no-sells so Mundo kicks him in the gut and punches and kicks him into the ropes. Mack stops the whip into the ropes and twists Mundo around and hits a knee to the midsection and then throws him to the outside where Jazz gets a few shots in while Mack distracts the ref. Mack goes to the outside and throws Mundo back in and covers for a near fall then proceeds to slug away at him, incensed that Mundo kicked out at two. The ref pulls Mack off Mundo but Mack continues the assault in the corner peppering Mundo with rights and lefts before kicking him in the head. Mundo is then driven shoulder first into the steel ringpost and his arm is wrenched against the apron on the outside by Mack. Mack covers for another two count, continues the assault with a bodyslam but another cover has the same result. Mack applies pressure to the shoulder on the canvas and punches Mundo back down when he tries to get to his feet. Mack grabs Mundo by the hair and punches him back down again, Mundo tries to fight back but Mack hits a clubbing blow to the back and throws Mundo into the ropes. Mundo ducks Mack’s swing and comes back at him with a diving shoulderblock which only staggers Mack into the ropes and he walks into a dropkick but again Mack doesn’t go down. Mundo kicks Mack in the back of the leg three times, comes off the ropes and finally takes Mack down with a bulldog. Cover 1-2 no upset as Mack kicks out. Mundo tries to continue the momentum by coming off the ropes again but Mack catches him, powerslams him down to the canvas and hits the Ghetto Blaster DDT. That’s all she wrote for Mike Mundo, 1-2-3. Here is Your Winner: RODNEY MACK.

Robert Conway w/Sylvain Grenier vs Maven
The Quebecers enter to boos and Sylvain’s singing is interrupted by Maven who receives a nice pop from the crowd. The Quebecers hug as Maven looks on and a huge USA chant echoes around the arena. Maven takes control from the lockup and tries to work the arm and after a couple of reversals Conway knees Maven in the midsection and bodyslams him to the canvas. Conway talks trash to Maven who responds by getting up and slapping the French sympathizer in the face and both size each other up before locking back up. Conway charges into lockup with Maven and gets a quick go-behind and lands continuous blows to the back which eventually send Maven into the ropes. Maven comes back with a forearm to take Conway down and Maven tries to continue his attack in the corner but the ref steps in to separate and when Maven goes to continue his offence Conway sucker punches him and Maven staggers away. Conway boots Maven in the gut and punches him and tries to work the arm but Maven responds with punches to the face and a kick to the midsection and then applies a side headlock. Conway forces him into the ropes and Maven comes off, takes Conway down with a shoulderblock and immediately covers but Conway manages to kick out at two so Maven uses a side headlock takedown and another cover gets another two count but Maven keeps the hold cinched in and tries applying more pressure and gets another two count. Conway eventually forces his way back up but is taken back down after another Maven shoulderblock and another one but when Maven comes off the ropes again Conway is back up, grabs hold of Maven and throws him over the top rope. Maven however lands on his feet on the apron, Conway charges and is greeted by a head to the midsection, Sylvain tries to interject himself into the match by grabbing Maven’s leg, Maven swats away with the other leg but the distraction is long enough for Conway to recover and a second charge knocks Maven off the apron and into the guardrail. The ref holds back Conway from going out to do more damage but the distraction allows Sylvain on the outside to stomp away at Maven. Conway goes to the outside stomps on Maven himself and rolls him back into the ring. Conway covers and Maven kicks out at two so Conway slugs away at a defenceless Maven on the canvas and talks trash to the crowd as another USA chant breaks out. Maven has crawled to the corner to try and get a breather and is using the ropes to try and get back to his feet but Conway connects with a roundhouse punch and Irish whips him to another corner. Conway charges, Maven gets his foot up, Conway catches looks pleased with himself drops the leg and gets belted in the face by a Maven punch. Maven charges but is clotheslined down. Cover 1-2 kickout. Conway tries to strangle Maven as he applies a chokehold on the mat whilst keeping the knee driven into Maven’s back. Maven starts to fight out as another USA chant gets going and he gets to his feet and shakes off Conway with a backdrop. Conway and Maven exchange roundhouse punches and Conway eventually takes a tumble but he reverses a whip to the ropes however Maven takes him down with a forearm and hits two standing dropkicks. Cover gets a two count. Maven executes a back bodydrop but when he comes off the ropes to follow up Grenier hooks the leg and distracts Maven and turns away. Maven grabs Grenier’s flag and swipes away as Grenier cowers. Maven then turns to Conway and swings away as Conway too backs up and onto the floor in the corner. The ref takes hold of the flag and goes to dispose of it and while he’s distracted Grenier hits the ring, clubs Maven in the back and into Conway. La Resistance set up and execute their double team finishing move and it’s au revoir for Maven. 1-2-3. Here is Your Winner: ROBERT CONWAY.
Grisham thanks us for watching. End of Show. I’ll see you back here next week. Have a good week everybody. Shaun.
