Dark Matches, WWE Velocity *Spoilers* (4/27/04) - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

The event started with the announcer telling the audience about the rules and regulations regarding cameras and such.

**Dark Matches**

Carly Colon vs. Scotty 2 Hotty

Colon does a few moves to Scotty trying to show that he could outmaneuver Scotty, but then Scotty got the upper hand for a bit and went for the bulldog, which ended up with Colon giving Scotty a clothesline before he even got the chance to. A few more punches here and there and then Scotty went for the bulldog again and was successful this time. He did his Worm and got the 1-2-3.

Winner: Scotty 2 Hotty

Spike Dudley vs. Mordecai

Not much happening here either. Mordecai came out in all white, even his eyebrows. Spike did his usual stuff of headbutting and such, then went for the Dudley Dog to have it reversed. The match ended with a pin after Mordecai gave a modified powerbomb to Spike.

Winner: Mordecai

The announcer then asked us if we could stand up and cheer for the beginning of Velocity when it starts. Josh Matthews and Bill DeMott came out as commentators for the show. Can't remember which happened first out of the two.

Cena starts the show by coming out with his rap, then he said he would give his OSU jersey to the fan with the best sign. He wanders around a little and then heads up to the middle of the stadium. He held up the girl's sign and gave it back to her along with the jersey.

John Cena vs. Akio

Akio starts hammering away on Cena before the bell even rings. Cena does his common stuff such as the 5 Knuckle Shuffle and pumping up his shoes. He goes for the F-U but Akio's ringside friend tries to interfere which I think resulted with a kick from Cena. He goes for it again and is successful this time.

Winner: Cena

Funaki vs. John Bradshaw Layfield

Bradshaw comes to the ring in his limo and does the Longhorns sign with his hand which resulted from a huge boo from the audience. I think Bradshaw did a powerbomb, got down to pinned, but stopped the count and picked Funaki back up. He goes for a Clothlines from Hell, gets down to pin, and stops the count again. One more Clothlines from Hell and he finally pins him.

Winner: John Bradshaw Layfield

I think Funaki was seriously bleeding as they had to disinfect the ring and the area outside of the ring. Even after they went backstage, I managed to get a glimpse of Funaki leaving with someone and he was still holding a towel to his head.

Jamie Noble vs. Rey Mysterio

Mysterio finally comes back after being away for a few weeks. This match was full of Jamie Noble trying to work submissions on Rey Mysterio. Rey eventually gets Noble onto the middle rope where he went for the 619 and a flying legdrop which resulted in a pin.

Winner: Rey Mysterio

Not sure if this part will be aired, but Jim Ross comes out to say he is glad to be in Oklahoma. He points out OU football players in the crowd, which happens to be in front of us. Lots of cheers and he leaves.

Mark Jindrak vs. Shannon Moore

Teddy Long comes out to introduce Mark Jindrak to the ring and then watches from ringside. This was a squash match which ended with Jindrak giving Moore what looked like a modified backslam before the pin.

Winner: Mark Jindrak

That was the final match of Velocity.

It seems like they're trying to make Velocity more popular by bringing in the big names from SmackDown! to boost the ratings.

I have pictures of Velocity and SmacDown! at the following link: http://members.cox.net/nike15/nn.zip

I apologize for the poor quality. I believe the flash made the smoke reflect it which resulted in the blurriness.

The mass exodus of fans were let into the building at 6:45 pm with sign checkers located throughout the building. My personal signs were checked two separate times, which I found quite odd. The Ford Center can probably fit 8000 max for a Smackdown taping and I
