The following is an excerpt of Christian on Byte This! written by Steven Fernandes:
Loyd brings up that Unforgiven match. Christian says it was quite a match to have after coming back from injury. Loyd says that was probably good thinking.
Christian asks who he is talking to, and acts disgusted when he finds out its Loyd, but he says he’s just joking.
Loyd asks for his thoughts on Hogan in the HOF. Christian thinks it’s pretty cool. He says he was one of the main guys to put WWE on the map. He took wrestling to whole new level. Christian says he was a huge Hulkamaniac growing up. He’s met him and wrestled him a couple of times, which he thought was cool.
Romero asks if he has a favorite WM moment, one in which he was involved, and one in which he was a spectator. Some of his most favorite as a spectator were WM 1, which was like nothing he had seen before, and WM 3 where 93,000 people went crazy when Hogan slammed Andre, and the match between Steamboat and Savage. He also mentions Austin and Rock at the Astrodome, and Austin and HBK in Boston. One of his favorite moments as a wrestler was at WM20 wrestling Jericho at MSG.
Loyd says Christian is a fan of everything and the work that goes into those matches. Christian says he was a wrestling fan growing up, going to live events and watching on TV on weekends. Even though he does it for a living now, he is still a wrestling fan. He always watches as a fan and will always be one.
Romero says he doesn’t know Christian a lot since they are on opposite brands, but he looks like he has fun doing what he does, and that’s the way you have to attack it. Christian says how many people in their lifetime get to do, what they truly want to do. He says some people are stuck in a job they hate, just waiting for the clock to strike five so they can go home. But the WWE superstars get to travel around the world, and get to meet the fans.
Loyd brings up the Basic Instinct parody and says that Romero and himself, and the fans and everybody in the office agree that Christian stole the scene. Christian said it was good doing it, and glad he got to do something different. He thinks all the parodies have been good. He says its good to show WWE superstars in a different light and show that they can branch out and do different stuff. He got a lot of great feedback on the parody, so he was happy how it turned out.
Romero says that he was talking to a few of the Hollywood producers who saw these WM trailers and were amazed at how well they did them and how few takes it took, and how talented they looked doing them. Christian said it showed the versatility that the superstars have, and showed they have different sides to them. He thinks maybe it will open up other avenues for them. Romero says he’s not the only one to look at Stacy and say ‘I love you.’ saying the look was priceless. Romero asked if he worked on it or was it one take. Christian said it was one-take.
Loyd asked if the situation arose, if he would like to do a movie like Triple H and The Rock. Christian said sure. He says it would be a tremendous opportunity to do something like that. He feels its something he could do. He says first and foremost, he is a WWE superstar, but it would be cool to branch out.
Email… He has teamed with Edge, Storm and Jericho among others. What’s it like teaming up with Tomko compared to those three? Christian says they haven’t team up that often to be considered a tag team. Whenever Tomko wrestles, its singles matches, or works as his bodyguard. He says his style is different, citing him as a big man, and is also an ass-kicker, and that what’s sets him apart from his other previous partners.
Loyd says they are four weeks away from Wrestlemania 21. He asks Christian what’s it like. The atmosphere, the hype, etc. Christian says its like ‘its that time of the year again.’ He says WM is like their super bowl, so everything you worked for all year culminates at WM. He says you get that special feeling going into the last weeks before the event with the hype, and it’s a good feeling. He says every time you get to do a WrestleMania is a special moment, and the excitement you get going into the event, and you get to meet the fans as well. The guys go out there and step it up.
Romero brings up the AWTY book and Edge telling a story about Christian passing out on a red-eye flight and being “decorated”. Does Christian want to elaborate on that? Christian says it’s a funny story. They were on a flight from Las Vegas to Dallas, and connecting in Dallas and going home from there. There were a few of them on the plane and they were having fun. It was about the time he first came in, about ’98 or ’99. He says someone, who shall remain nameless, passed out and had stuff painted on his face. A short time later, Christian passed out and the person painted his face, not knowing that he got his own face painted, until he got tipped off by a stewardess, and scrubbed it off. When they landed and they stood up, Christian noticed a couple of people looking at him strange, so he knew something was up. He remembered painting someone else’s face earlier so he went to the bathroom to check his face, and he had a people’s eyebrow drawn on, and a couple of things written on his face. He tried to scrub it off the best he could, and said it would have been embarrassing if he walked through the airport looking like that.
Email… Is Christian interested in writing a book? He doesn’t know. He wouldn’t be opposed to it, but doesn’t feel he has accomplished everything in life yet, so it would be incomplete if he wrote one. So he doesn’t see it in the near future, but wouldn’t be against it.
Romero brings up that he will be on HEAT this Sunday tagging with Tomko in a 3-way. Loyd says that should be quite the showdown.
Loyd asks how’s the body holding up. He says its pretty good. He said he was tired after doing the shows in Japan, Korea, and Hawaii, saying the trip was great, the show was great, but the traveling was tiring so it took a while to get over it. But he is feeling good and back to normal.
Romero says it’s good to be healthy going into Wrestlemania and teases that Christian might be a part of Jericho’s match. Christian said he heard about that and would like to see what happens.
