WWE Sunday Night Heat Report-22nd May 2005
By Shaun Best-Rajah.Com Reporter
Well Judgment Day is in the past and it was a good PPV that kept me entertained. The Main Event was much better than I expected and was a gripping affair and most of the other matches lived up to their billing too in my opinion. It's kind of irrelevant now but here it is better late than never the Sunday Night Heat Report. The show starts with Todd Grisham and Ivory. Ivory tells Todd she quits which makes me happy but then she reveals she's alluding to the main event and I'm disappointed. Damn that woman is annoying. The Booker T vs Kurt Angle match is first up for the hype machine. Steve Romero and Josh Mathews introduce highlights of the Big Show/Carlito/Matt Morgan feud before we see highlights from the Judgment Day press conference held this past Tuesday. Sunday Night Heat is brought to you by The Longest Yard (out in the US this Friday starring Adam Sandler and Chris Rock), Subway and System of a Down's new album titled Mesmorise in stores now. Todd and Ivory plug John Cena's CD and WWE.Com before we see highlights of Cena throwing out the first pitch at a Boston Red Sox game last week at Fenway Park-Boston,MA. Todd touches on the Cruiserweight title match and sends it to an interview conducted earlier in the day between Josh Mathews and Chavo Guerrero.
Josh: Chavo Guerrero tonight you face Paul London. The man who defeated you for the Cruiserweight Championship of the world.
Chavo: Defeated me? Did, Did Paul London ever beat me?...
Josh: Well,er...
Chavo: No, no, no, no did Paul London ever pin Chavo Guerrero?
Josh: No.
Chavo: No that's right. That means Paul London has never beat Chavo Guerrero. He was awarded my Cruiserweight championship by winning a Battle Royal which is technically still not beating me. I've beat him by pinfall in tag team matches, I've beat him by countout in singles matches. I've left him beaten and bloodied in the middle of the ring. Tonight is going to be Paul London's Judgment Day. Oh oh you'd better believe that. Tonight Paul London is going to realize who the greatest Cruiserweight in the world is...Chavo Guerrero.
Todd and Ivory quickly hype the US title match. Very quickly thank god. Eddie Guerrero vs Rey Mysterio is hyped and their recent history is chronicled. Steve and Josh hype up Eddie and Rey some more by discussing the seriousness of the match and what's at stake. Michael Cole and Tazz take over and quickly run through all seven matches on the Judgment Day card. We now see highlights of Mark Jindrak insulting Sharmell on SmackDown! and his subsequent beatdown by Booker T. Earlier today Mark Jindrak catches up with Kurt Angle and tells him they have a bit of a problem. Kurt asks him what's up and Jindrak says he owes him an apology. Angle spits out his water and asks for what. Jindrak sarcastically repeats Angle's last statement then says for this (pointing to a bandage on his head). Jindrak says last week he was trying to explain to Sharmell that Kurt's the one with the fetish for guttersluts. Kurt admits he does have a fetish and Jindrak says Sharmell thought he was trying to call her that. Angle states to Jindrak that he did just that. Jindrak says he didn't. Kurt says he did. Jindrak says he didn't and because of that Booker T attacked him and gave him eleven stitches in his head. Kurt tells Mark to settle down and says first of all he doesn't need to blame Booker T for what happened as he needs to blame Sharmell. Jindrak looks on in agreement. Kurt adds that if Sharmell wasn't such a gutterslut none of this would have ever happened. Kurt loves those kind of women. Kurt concludes by saying Sharmell's in attendance and he's going to make sure she's in for quite a surprise. Kurt smirks with a twinkle in his eye and quivers with excitement.
We go behind the scenes of Stone Cold Steve Austin in the Longest Yard in snippets with Kevin Nash and Nelly among others. Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Nelly and Director Peter Segal sing Austin's praises as Austin briefly explains his role in the film. It's in theaters this Friday in the US. Match time now so let's get to the action.
Nunzio vs Akio
Pyjama wear again for Akio just like on Velocity. Clearasil for men presents Judgment Day which is/was next. Lockup, Akio backs Nunzio to the corner and slaps him in the face before backing up. Nunzio with a quick go-behind, fireman takedown, now it's Nunzio's turn to slap Akio who falls down. Akio charges forward and drives Nunzio into the corner and delivers headbutts to the midsection. Martial arts kicks drop Nunzio to his knees who then falls face first onto the canvas. Akio with a stomp to the back, bounces Nunzio off the ropes, Nunzio crawls underneath Akio's high knee attempt and jumps up on top of him and delivers a hurricanrana. Nunzio covers for a two count, Nunzio takes Akio to the corner and tries some mounted punches. Akio throws Nunzio down after four, Nunzio lands on his feet and charges. Akio throws him over the top rope, Nunzio lands on the apron. Nunzio gets a shot in but Akio jumps up and nails Nunzio with a kick that sends him crashing to the floor. Akio rolls out and legsweeps Nunzio into the guardrail. Akio puts Nunzio back in and back inside Akio lands a spinning kick to the back of Nunzio's head. Two count for Akio. Akio applies a rear naked choke. Nunzio thumps the mat, gets to his feet, Akio knees him in the gut and slams him down. Akio comes off the top rope, Nunzio lifts a leg up, Akio catches and pushes Nunzio who rolls back and gets back on his feet. Akio charges and Nunzio hits a neckbreaker (just) for two. Nunzio gets Akio up, counters roundhouse attempts by peppering him with some of his own. Nunzio bounces Akio off the ropes, clothesline by Nunzio and another one. Nunzio with a sidewalk slam. Nunzio runs the ropes and delivers a dropkick to Akio's mush 1-2-no. Nunzio screams come on. Akio reverses an Irish whip but charges into a Nunzio knee to the gut. Nunzio hits the Sicilian Slice from the second rope but only gets another two. Nunzio hits the mat in frustration. Nunzio with an Irish whip, Nunzio charges, Akio moves and pushes Nunzio face first into the turnbuckles. Akio quickly connects with a top rope moonsault for two and now it's Akio's turn to be in shock. Nunzio sees this and quickly takes advantage with a rollup. Nunzio's got him 1-2-3. Brilliant starter before the main course. This match set the tone for the evening for me. Here is Your Winner: NUNZIO.
John Cena/JBL recent history is recapped. Finally we see the Cabinet arrive moments ago looking focused and Cole shills for Judgment Day as Heat goes off the air. End of show. Hope you enjoyed Judgment Day. I'll be back next weekend with Velocity and Heat so until then take care and have a good week. Later Shaun.
