WWE Smackdown in Edmonton, Alberta

Smackdown!
Cole & Tazz come out, followed by Carlito, and then we get the opening pyro.
Carlito's Cabana with special guest John Cena
Carlito gets some typical heel heat, by saying Edmonton is the "least cool
city ever" and the Great White North is just "not cool". Footage is shown of
Matt Morgan's assault on the Big Show last week, and then Carlito introduces
his guest, John Cena. Cena comes out wearing an old school Edmonton Oilers
jersey, getting him the biggest pop of the night. He gets into mocking Matt
Morgan and his stuttering, then informs the two that he received the green
light from Teddy Long to have a tag team match, with his partner, who would
indeed be here later tonight, the Big Show.
A Diva promo video is shown.
Booker T comes into G.M. Teddy Long's office, and demands he call of the
match between Kurt Angle and his wife, Sharmell. Teddy tells him that Kurt
won the right to challenge him, but he would allow Booker to compete in the
match with Sharmell, making it a 2-on-1 match.
Match 1:
WWE Tag Team Titles: MNM vs. Haas/Holly
The match will have a 15-minute time limit, and the team who scores the most
pinfalls in that time will win.
With less than 10 seconds remaining, and MNM up 2-1 in the pinfall count,
Holly hits an Alabama Slam, but he gets the pinfall a few seconds too late.
MNM retain the titles with a 2-1 final score.
An ECW promo is shown.
Kurt Angle comes out next, but he's not ready for his match quite yet. He
addresses Tazz, and asks him why he didn't do commentary for his
Invitational last week. He shows a clip from the days of ECW, when Tazz
asked Kurt to do commentary for his match, and then called him an amateur.
Kurt says that it's the WWE that made him a star, not ECW, so he asks Tazz
to join him in his crusade to kill ECW again.
Match 2:
Booker T & Sharmell Sullivan vs. Kurt Angle
Sharmell is reluctant during the entire match to help her husband, but she
does attempt to fight a few times. Kurt picks up the win @ 10:20, after
bringing in a steel chair behind the ref's fallen back.
A WM21 DVD promo is shown, along with a plug for John Cena's new album.
Match 3:
Heidenreich vs. Dan Bickelson (or Mickelson, didn't hear it exactly)
Heidenreich comes out, and says he's still looking for new friends. He picks
a young girl from the audience, and reads her one of his "disasterpieces"
about the draft lottery, and how he doesn't care where he goes, he'll still
be looking for new friends. Heidenreich picks up the speedy and easy victory
over the jobber in 43 seconds.
Mark Jindrak is shown backstage hanging out with some of the Divas. He tells
them that if he stays on Smackdown after the draft, he wants some fresh
Divas to hang out with.
Match 4:
Nunzio vs. JBL
JBL cuts a promo on how disgusted he is to see ECW trying to comeback, and
how he refuses to let the One Night Stand PPV disgrace his hometown of New
York. He's so confident of himself, that he challenges Nunzio to an ECW
rules match. Nunzio accepts, but gets squashed quickly by JBL and the
Bashams.
Booker T is shown again in Teddy Long's office. Booker wants Kurt next week
in the ring, so Teddy makes the match, but only if both superstars are still
members of Smackdown after the first draft pick.
Match 5:
John Cena & The Big Show vs. Carlito & Matt Morgan
Cena picks up the victory @ 10:18 after a thundering FU to Matt Morgan. He
goes out to celebrate with the fans in the crowd.
END SHOW
Post-Show:
Cena makes his way to the stage, but his celebrations are interrupted by JBL
and Orlando Jordan, who ambush him and start beating him down. This, of
course, leads into the bonus match.
Match 6:
2-on-1
JBL/Orlando Jordan vs. John Cena
Cena wins @ 4:23, and finishes the celebrations by pulling a Canadian flag
from a woman at ringside, and waving it around in the ring.
Overall notes/impressions
The arena was fairly full, with a good portion of the upper deck tarped off.
The crowd was really into most of the matches, and there were a few
surprises as to heels receiving some good face pops (there were plenty of
"let's go Angle" chants during his match.)

Carlito's Cabana with John Cena, Carlio talks about how he beat Cena in his
first match, and can do it again. Cena verbaly attacks Matt Morgan, and sets
up Big Show/John Cena Vs Carlito/Morgan
Booker T promo in the back, Long changes Angle/Sharmel to Booker/Sharmel Vs
Angle
15 Minute Iron Man Match
MNM defends the tag team titles against Hardcore Holly and Charlie Hass
MNM win 2-1, in a very solid match. Hardcore/Hass recived a standing ovation
after the match.
Angle invites Tazz to join him on Team Smackdown for ECW One Night Stand
Kurt Angle beats Sharmel and Booker T, when Angle pinned Sharmel
Good match. Angle and Booker meshed well tonight, and Angle was extremly
funny when he gets his hands on Sharmel.
Heidenreich beat Kid Nichlos (sp) in about 30 seconds
Mark Jindrak hits on the WWE diva's. Then tells them that he wishes the RAW
diva's were here because they "put out"
JBL Comes out and shoots on ECW for about 5 minutes, and then beats Nunizo
in a ECW rules match in about 30 seconds.
Big Show/John Cena beat Carlito/Matt Morgan, when John Cena pinned Carlito
via F-U. Wasn't a amazing wrestling match, but the fans were entertained.
Dark Main Event:
John Cena beat JBL and Orlando Jordan when Cena pinned JBL in about 7
minutes. Nothing to write about here.
Overall it was a good show, and hopefully it translates into a good
Smackdown on TV.
