On the ECW “One Night Stand” DVD, one of the featured extras is an "alternative commentary" audio track taped live at the show with commentary from John Bradshaw Layfield as he watched the event from the one of the balconies of the Hammerstein Ballroom.
Bradshaw makes a number of negative remarks and comments about the ECW guys including Mike Awesome ("When he was here, the boys said he sucked but I said he wasn't that good."), Lance Storm ("Couldn't fill an arena if you gave away free beer with free tickets") and Tommy Dreamer ("This is the main event?") Bradshaw also mocks Lance Storm's retirement, calling him "The most boring man on the planet...They say he's retiring today...If a tree falls in a forest, no one cares."
The most intriguing part of the commentary are Bradshaw's comments from the point The Blue World Order came to the ring prior to the main event, especially in light of the incident with the Blue Meanie that was soon to follow.
It's interesting to note that Bradshaw makes the declaration "I'm drunk" just before Tommy Dreamer makes his way to the ring. From the point the Blue World Order come out, here is a complete transcription of Bradshaw's comments:
[BWO walks to the ring] "And you wonder why they went out of business?"
[Blue Meanie gets on the turnbuckle] "Why don't you look up here you fat f**k with your blue hair? Go mind your porn star wife. That looks like a monkey screwing a basketball, him getting up there. Go give your body to science fiction you fat rolypoly (inaudible)..."
[BWO poses in the ring] "He looks like a blue-haired, 800 pound Abraham Lincoln."
[Stevie Richard cutting promo in the ring] "Somebody write him a promo? Get to the point. The point. Go Home Now."
[Steviekick on Sandman] Orlando Jordan says, "He missed the kick." Bradshaw responds, "No wonder he should have gotten fired from us."
The brawl prior to the main event featuring the Dudley Boyz, Kid Kash, Axl Rotten, Balls Mahoney, Sandman, the BWO, and Tommy Dreamer begins, preventing any further comment. As the main event continues, Bradshaw asks, "Are we out of beer? I need to be drunk for this one."
There was no audio output during the show closing brawl, either because his mic was turned off or the audio could have been possibly removed in post production. So there was nothing to note regarding the incident with The Blue Meanie and Bradshaw. The brawl is seen with the only audio being heard being the crowd reaction, which makes it easier to pay closer attention to the actual Meanie-JBL incident.
However, his disrespectful comments were probably made ‘in-character’ however in light of recent happenings, it does make you wonder.
