TNA News: Legal Trademark Issues With WWE, Paying For TV Time, Hard Justice Buyrate

Several TNA tidbits this afternoon, courtesy of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter:

- WWE's legal department is giving TNA problems again. This time, its over the use of one of their protected copywrites. WWE feels TNA's use of the name "The Outlaw", in reference to Billy Gunn, is too close to their "New Age Outlaws" trademark. It might not have been an issue if TNA had named somebody else "The Outlaw", but with the Gunn/NAO connection, WWE certainly does have a case there.

- The feeling within WWE is that TNA has agreed to buy television time on Spike TV for the Saturday nights at 11PM time slot, starting this fall. When TNA was negotiating with another cable network, WGN, back in May, the deal-breaker was that WGN was making TNA purchase the TV time (as if it were an hour long infomercial) and would not negotiate with TNA about paying for the airtime, even if TNA's ratings reached a point where the company was bringing the network a lot of viewership. It appears Spike TV will be more willing to negotiate with TNA, should the program become successful.

- TNA's most recent PPV offering, Hard Justice, looks to have drawn about 15,000 to 20,000 PPV buys.
