WWE RAW Report (8/8/05) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The show begins with a recap of Bischoff talking to Jericho and Carlito in his office last week. They then went on to recap last week’s match between Cena and Carlito with Jericho as the guest ref and Bisch on the outside. They showed all the bloody details including Jericho hitting Cena with a camera causing Cena to require five stitches.

Pushing the face to face between HBK and Hogan later in the evening.

Eugene comes out with Christy in her cheering outfit for the Eugene Invitational. Eugene is wearing a Hulkamania shirt. Eugene tells the crowd that Hulk is his friend and his hero before Christy takes the Mic. to announce the newest hometown hero. She starts cheering for Eugene when Angle’s music starts playing and he comes to the ring. Angle’s wearing a new shirt of his wrestling gear. The crowd goes wild for Angle chanting his name. Angle goes for a cheap pop in his hometown and the crowd goes wild chanting his name. Eugene starts talking about his metals and the crowd boos him and starts chanting “Eugene Sucks”. Angle then calls the people of Pittsburgh blue collar idiots and they finally started to boo him.

Angle attacks Eugene and takes quick control. Angle pushes the ref and almost got DQ’d. In under a minute Angle gets a near fall, but Eugene kicks out. When the ref tries to break them up in the corner Eugene Tomahawk Chops the ref’s back. The ref reprimands Angle for the attack. At 55 seconds Eugene finally gets pissed, but Angle keeps control. Angle accidentally gets thrown into the ref at 22 seconds left and gets DQ’d for his continued attacks.
Angle attacks Eugene after the bell was rung. Eugene was on the mat and Hogan’s music hits. Hulk comes out and rescues Eugene. He beats on Angle briefly until Angle rolls out of the ring and walks up the ring cussing out Hogan. Eugene and Hogan do Hogan’s post match posses as the show goes to commercial.

- Winner: Eugene via DQ

WWE Rewind featured the handicap match between Shelton and Snitsky with Masters.

When back from commercial Shelton Benjamin enters and is going to face Chris Masters. Master’s ego seems to grow ten fold each week as he does his entrance.
Masters takes control early in the match, but Shelton seems to have learned Masters few moves and is countering everything Masters does. That is until Shelton is overpowered. Masters locks in a Bearhug, but Shelton gets an elbow to the back of the head. Masters goes for the Masterlock, but Shelton counters before it’s at all locked in and gets an almost fall. Shelton takes control with punches, not wrestling moves. Shelton goes up top and nails Masters with a flying Clothesline. Shelton goes for the three, but Masters gets his foot on the ropes. Shelton applies a sleeper. When Masters kicks out he nails Shelton below the belt.
Masters locks in the Masterlock and gets the submission.

- Winner: Chris Masters

Grisham outback meets up with a smiling Angle who just came from Bischoff’s office. Bisch just signed a match between Angle and Eugene at SummerSlam. There is no time limit in THAT match. Angle was all excited about the pain he gets to cause Eugene. He was thrilled at the thought of breaking Eugene’s ankle and ending his career.

Recap of HBK’s Sweet Chin Music on Hogan. More push for the face to face of the two later.

Maria and her famous dumb routine is interviewing Rob Conway outback about his match with “The love machine, Viscera”. Rob rhymes his little interview and talks about doing things the “Con Way”.
Big Vis shows up and tells Conway he looks good in his see-through shorts, leather boots and sunglasses. Vis asks if Conway is part of the Village People and starts singing YMCA. Conway tries to attack Big Vis, but Vis just grabs his wrist and smiles at him.

JR, Coach and King talk about Vinnie Mac’s rehiring of Matt Hardy last week. They are interviewing Edge and Lita who are outback in their dressing room talking into a camera.
Edge says he asked Vince to rehire Matt because if he did what he wanted to on the street he’d be arrested for assault. So the horrible things he wants to do to Matt will happen legally, in the ring. Bischoff has assigned security to Edge and Lita’s dressing room to protect them. Edge asks the security to leave and Matt to come in. Though it would be like Matt to cry over the whole situation when he actually made it into the dressing room.
Edge is obviously pissed and blames Matt for dragging his and Lita’s names through the mud and making their lives so terrible. He’s also pissed that Matt keeps jumping out at him from behind and not being a real man.
Edge says that Matt may want him to get in a car accident, but Edge wants Matt perfectly healthy for SummerSlam because he’s going to beat him horribly, give him what he deserves.
Edge mentioned that Matt and Amy were together for 6 years, but Matt never proposed. That’s because nothing comes before Matt’s career. Matt should thank Edge for everything because he’s now in the main event, riding on Edge’s coat tails. Matt’s only there because Lita fell in love with a main eventer.
Edge said that what he said probably hurts, because the truth usually does. Lita just stood there in a neck brace looking upset and never said a word.

Rob Conway comes out to his new music, such as it is. At least he’s not wearing that hat this week. (What’s with all this new/strange facial hair on RAW anyway?) Big Vis comes out next in his PJ’s and smoking jacket. Lillian is out of the ring before Vis enters.
Rob tries to corner Vis with a few forearms, but you can’t strong arm Big Vis. Vis is beating Rob down when Rob kicks him in the knee and lands Vis on the mat. Rob focuses on that left knee, but Vis overpowers him with a Samoan Drop. Vis is favoring the knee, but has the power behind him. Vis picked Rob up and tried to put him up in the corner. Rob countered and was able to cover Big Vis for the upset.

- Winner: Rob Conway

Recap of Heat when Victoria attacked Stacy during Rosy and Hurricane’s tag match with The Heartthrobs.

Hurricane, Rosey and Super Stacy come to the ring for a six man mixed tag match. They will be facing Victoria and The Heartthrobs.
Stacy tries to jump Victoria as soon as she entered the ring. She’s pissed about what happened on Heat.
The match starts with Antonio and Hurricane. Antonio takes control over Hurricane. After a Russian Leg Sweep Antonio goes for the cover, but doesn’t get the three and tags out to Romeo. The pair then tries to double team Hurricane, but he gets a Double Drop Kick and the tag to Rosey. They try to double team Rosey, but Stacy sways her ass at them and distracts them

Recap of Hogan on Larry King Live

The Highlight Reel starts with Y2J tooting his own horn, then tooting Bischoff’s horn. I didn’t think a man with that big of an ego could get his lips that far up another man’s bum.
Bisch came to the ring and the two seemed to have a mutual admiration society going on. Bischoff hopes everyone enjoys Cena’s new video tonight because after Jericho beats Cena at SummerSlam the only thing Cena will have is his music career. And if Cena was cleared to be in the ring tonight he would get and even worse beating than last week.
Jericho says he’s made a new video which he shows on the Jeritron 5000. Basically it’s every time he’s hit Cena since Cena arrived on RAW set to Fozzy music.
They go back to appreciating each other, except things didn’t go as planned last week due to the ref who counted for Cena last week. Bischoff called him down to the ring. Chad (or Chet or Tad - I’ll go with Chad for this as I’m not sure of his name) Patten comes down and Bischoff asks what the hell he thought he was doing last week. They showed a clip from last week. The ref said he was just doing his job. Bischoff slapped the ref a couple times and demanded an apology. He apologize and Bisch wasn’t happy. He wanted a louder apology. Tad apologized again, but Bisch wanted to punish him, so he said Chad has a match tonight against Jericho - next.

- Commercial

Jericho and Chad Patten are in the ring. Jericho is taunting him. Chad drives his shoulder into Jericho’s stomach and pushes him into the corner, hard. Jericho slaps him around in the ring and rips his ref shirt off.
Carlito saunters to the ring watching Jericho taunting Chad. Jericho rolled Chad out of the ring and Carlito beat him up. When Chad gets thrown back in the ring Jericho nails him with a Spine Buster followed up by the Walls Of Jericho. Chad is tapping out and Bischoff isn’t calling for the bell. This goes on and on for about three or four minutes until Cena comes running down to the ring and beat down Jericho, Bischoff and Carlito. Cena might not have been “cleared to wrestle” because of his 5 stitches, but he looked just fine and seemed up to his normal par.

- Winner: Chris Jericho

- Commercial

Backstage Bisch and Jericho are walking outback screaming. They are approached by Grisham. Bisch said if Cena did not want to listen to his doctor’s advice, then he gets to be in a handicap match next week. It will be Carlito and Jericho against Cena on next weeks show. That seemed to make both Bisch and Jericho much happier.

Diva search is announced by Coach. The Diva hopefuls come to the ring. (Did you vote for your favorite?) Coach is going to tell us who’s eliminated and next week the winner will be crowned. (Yay, it’s almost over!) Kristal is eliminated.
Coach tells the girls the competition. They are telling the fans why they should vote for them, but they would have a distraction. They showed tapes from earlier in the day.
Ashley shows her phone number. The only reason she’s there is because of the fans. She says she loves hearing from the fans. She then gets a pie in the face and starts cussing and screaming - threw her whole train of thought off.
Leyla is standing there naked behind a sign of her name. She gets a pie in the face and we see that she’s isn’t naked. She says the flavor of the pie is yummy and covers well. She then cussed them out.
Elisabeth looked very 50's and starts talking smack about the other girls, but not saying much. She then gets a pie in the face - she barely blinks an eye and keeps going. She reacts the best.

- Eliminated: Kristal

Recap of HBK’s fake Barry King Live show.

- Commercial

Matt Hardy’s music hits as we return from commercial. He’s going to wrestle! His opponent is Gene Snitsky. Matt looks as driven as he has in past weeks.
Matt take quick control of Snitsky. The bigger man is reeling until he nails Matt with a Spine Buster. Snitsky traps Matt in a corner and starts punching him over and over. Snitsky with an Irish Whip and then a Clothesline. After a Suplex Snitsky goes for the cover, but doesn’t get the three. Snitsky goes for an Elbow Drop, but Matt rolls out of the way and starts countering his moves. Until Snitsky overpowers him again with a Sidewalk Slam. Matt recovers and goes for the Twist of Fate. Snitsky pushes Matt out of the way, but Snitsky gets hung up in the ropes. Matt nailed a modified Diamond Cutter on Snitsky who was sitting on the top turnbuckle.
Matt gets the cover and the win. When his music hits for post match celebration Matt gets attacked from behind by (guess who) Edge. It looked exactly like every time Matt jumped Edge from behind. There was a lot of security and staff there to pull Edge off Matt. Edge looked about as pissed and driven as Matt had every time he attacked Edge before he was officially brought back to RAW.

- Winner: Matt Hardy

-Commercial

Outback Matt was being led away by security. He saw Edge and broke away to attack him. Matt kept yelling, “You’re dead, you’re dead. Come on you little bastard, come on.” The were pulled apart, finally.

Cena’s new video aired. I’m not going to comment. They will show it enough times we will all see it until we’re all sick of it. The video got mixed reaction from the crowd.

King is in the ring ready for HBK and Hogan to come out for their face to face.

They announced next week will have Hogan and Angle in a match next week.

King announces HBK first. HBK comes to the ring dressed to wrestle. He climbs in the ring and goes to one podium, dancing the whole time. King hypes up Hogan a little before announcing him. HBK dances to Hogan’s music. Hogan looks a lot more stoic than usual and more so than HBK. The crowd goes absolutely wild for Hogan.
King talks about The Legend vs The Icon, but HBK interrupts him with a cheep pop for Pittsburgh. He thanks Hogan for taking the time out of his busy schedule of media and ‘Hogan Knows Best’ to be there.
King commented about Hogan’s comment on Larry King about HBK trying to reach the top tier. HBK wants to make things clear - there is nothing about Hogan’s life that HBK desires and in the ring Hogan can’t touch him. But HBK might have sounded upset that a peer didn’t respect him, but Hogan isn’t a peer of his because his career was based on hype and show.
King then asks Hogan how he feels about HBK’s Larry King spoof. Hogan doesn’t get to speak, because HBK interrupts, again. HBK says for the first time Hogan is facing someone who doesn’t sweat him. He won’t buckle to Hulkamania or the hype. HBK says the show, the company doesn’t exist without HBK.
King asks HBK to let Hogan speak. HBK keeps flapping his gums about being the only real thing on TV today. HBK just kept talking until Hogan had enough. Hogan says HBK has taken this to a whole other level. If HBK wanted a match, all he had to do is ask. Instead he cheap shotted him. Hogan says that HBK is the king of cheap shots. Hogan then mentioned Bret Hart.
HBK said, “and you’re next.’
Hogan commented about HBK leaving for 7 years because he lost his smile. Well, Hogan is there for every fan’s smile. If the fans want Hogan to go out there at SummerSlam to kick HBK’s ass, then he’s going to. Hogan then used his “What are you goin’ to do brother” lines.
King asked HBK what he was going to do. HBK got more and more pissed. It looked as though he was going to attack Hogan, but her then nailed King with Sweet Chin Music. HBK then gave Hogan a low blow. Hogan got pissed and kicked HBK’s ass and threw him from the ring.
HBK was on the ramp and Hogan kept telling HBK to come back to the ring, but HBK wouldn’t - need to leave the suspense for SummerSlam.
