WWE SmackDown! Results - August 18, 2005

Toronto, Ontario, Canada

The fireworks go off in the arena as Michael Cole and Tazz welcome us to SmackDown,
just three days away from SummerSlam. Tonight, we'll see Chris Benoit and Randy
Orton face off in a rematch from last year's SummerSlam. The music of Eddie Guerrero
hits as he makes his way down to the ring. There's a ladder in the ring. Guerrero
gets on the mic and says that last week, Rey Mysterio called him out in front of his
son, challenged him to a Custody Ladder Match at SummerSlam, and then called him a
chicken. The fans chant "Eddie Sucks" as he goes on to say that he'll be the one to
pull down the papers and gain custody of Dominick, because he loves his son and has
lived with the truth all his life, while Mysterio hasn't. He says Mysterio lied to
his son all his life and denied him the privilege of being a Guerrero. Just as
everyone knows, the truth always comes out and prevails over lies. Guerrero says at
SummerSlam, he's going to climb up the ladder, not because he wants to hurt or get
revenge on Mysterio, but for Dominick Guerrero, who's going to be the best Guerrero
of them all. He tells Dominick not to be scared, because at SummerSlam, he's going
to come home with Papi.

Booker T and Sharmell vs. Joey Mercury and Melina

Booker and Mercury kick the mixed tag team match off with a lockup, then Booker
grabs a headlock and hits a shoulder block. Booker scores with a hip toss before
hitting a knee drop. Booker hits a super kick and then tags in Sharmell while
Mercury tags in Melina. Melina tags in Mercury, but Sharmell rakes his eyes and tags
in Booker. Booker then unloads with right hands and hits a sidekick for two, but
Mercury comes back with a big boot to the face in the corner, then a clothesline and
neck breaker before locking in a chokehold. Booker reverses into a flapjack and then
a clothesline. Booker scores with the Scissors Kick before doing the Spinaroonie and
tagging in Sharmell while Mercury tags in Melina. Sharmell hits a clothesline and
covers, but Mercury breaks it up. Booker knocks Johnny Nitro off the ring apron and
clotheslines Mercury out of the ring, but then Melina pins Sharmell using the ropes.

Winners: Joey Mercury and Melina

Backstage, Sharmell asks Booker where was he out there and says she supports him all
the time at ringside and he was doing nothing out there. Sharmell walks off.

Backstage, Chris Benoit is shown, and then WWE United States Champion Orlando Jordan
comes in. Jordan says Benoit needs to be focusing on his match with him at
SummerSlam. Benoit says Jordan needs to be focusing on tapping out at SummerSlam.
Jordan looks worried.

Backstage, WWE Tag Team Champions Animal and Heidenreich are shown. Animal says
Heidenreich has heart just like Hawk did and knows he has what it takes and places
shoulder pads on Heidenreich.

WWE Tag Team Championship Match

Animal and Heidenreich (Champions) vs. Johnny Devine (formerly in TNA) and Ruffy
Silverstein

Heidenreich Irish whips Animal into Devine in the corner, and then they hit the
Doomsday Device for the win.

Winners and Still WWE Tag Team Champions: Animal and Heidenreich

Backstage, Funaki is with John Bradshaw Layfield and shows us footage from last
week, when JBL attacked World Heavyweight Champion Batista with a steel chair. JBL
says last week, he welcomed Batista into his world...no holds barred. He says the
dumbest thing Batista has ever done is allow him to choose the stipulation for their
rematch at SummerSlam. JBL guarantees that he'll walk away as the new World
Heavyweight Champion and tonight, he's going to demonstrate how violent a No-Holds
Barred Match can be and pick his opponent...Funaki. Funaki looks worried as JBL
walks off.

Backstage, Steve Romero is with Randy Orton. Orton says SmackDown! General Manager
Theodore Long wants to put him in a match with Benoit, just three days away from
SummerSlam. Last year, he defeated Benoit at SummerSlam because it was his destiny,
and his destiny now is to defeat The Undertaker at SummerSlam, and you can't stop
the destiny of the Legend Killer.

No-Holds Barred Match

Funaki vs. John Bradshaw Layfield

JBL hits the Clothesline From Hell and then laughs before going out of the ring. JBL
grabs a steel chair and nails Funaki in the head with it, but then Batista hits the
ring, gives JBL a spine buster, and nails him in the back with the chair. Batista
gets on the mic and guarantees at SummerSlam that this million-dollar body and
five-cent brain is going to kick his ass.

Rey Mysterio vs. Simon Dean

Mysterio hits a dropkick to the head and some punches in the corner, but then Dean
drops Mysterio onto the top turnbuckle and hits a backbreaker for two. Mysterio arm
drags Dean into the ropes and hits the 619, followed by the Drop of the Dime for the
win.

Winner: Rey Mysterio

Christian is in the ring for The Peep Show. He says he's going to interview a
superstar and ask the question and talking about the man who last week beat
Batista's ass...their hero...Christian. The music of The Mexicools then hits as they
come down on their lawnmower, then jump into the ring and jump Christian, but
Christian fights back. Psychosis and Super Crazy hit stereo leg drops and moonsaults
from the top rope, and then Juventud Guerrera 450 Splashes him like he pinned him.

Backstage, Josh Matthews is with Mysterio. Mysterio tells Dominick in front of the
whole world that he loves him and is going to bring him home. He says Guerrero may
be his father, but they're family and he's raised him, and after SummerSlam,
Dominick is coming home with him.

Chris Benoit vs. Randy Orton

Benoit hits an arm drag and then locks in an arm bar on the Legend Killer, but Orton
hits a thumb to the eye and sends Benoit to the turnbuckles. Orton rolls out of the
ring as we go to a commercial. Back on SmackDown, Orton misses a dropkick and Benoit
locks in the Sharpshooter, but Orton manages to get to the ropes. The two trade
right hands, and then Orton goes for the RKO, but Benoit hits a German suplex and
heads up to the top rope. Benoit connects with the flying headbutt. Jordan then hits
the ring, but Benoit kicks him, and then Orton hits the RKO for the win.

Winner: Randy Orton

After the match, the lights go out and when they come back on, Undertaker is in the
ring, gives Orton a chokeslam, and then stares down at him.
