WWE RAW Report (8/29/05) - Tampa, Florida

The show starts with a recap of last week’s “You’re Fired Match” where Chris Jericho lost and got fired from the WWE. Since then Jericho’s picture and profile have been removed from WWE.com. The also showed Bischoff announce Kurt Angle as the new number one contender.

Carlito’s was the first music played and he came down to the ring for Carlito’s Cabana. Carlito looks like he has a pile of poop under his nose the way it’s wrinkled up. He comments that since Jericho is gone there is no more Highlight Reel... “And that’s cool.”
He announces his guest for the night Shawn Michaels. HBK comes to the ring still mismatched, but no where near as bad as last week. At least this week his clothes didn’t make my eyes hurt.
Carlito admits that he admires HBK. HBK says there’s a lot to admire. Carlito says that HBK has paved the way for guys like him. But now he’s a guest on The Cabana, in all of Carlito’s glory. Carlito looked up to him, now HBK looks up to Carlito.
HBK cuts him off and says he can’t handle any more ego in his career. He has a few questions for Carlito. Like how long ago did he win the IC title? Hogan chants start here. HBK asks if people are talking about Carlito’s matches? No, and not because they are talking about HBK’s matches, but because Carlito’s hasn’t really had any matches. Not the title that makes the man, it’s the man who makes the title.
Carlito says no one has the cahones to face him. Even Flair backed down to Carlito. Carlito tells HBK there’s a pecking order around here. Carlito is way up here (over his head), and HBK is down here (on the floor).
Carlito isn’t happy with being insulted and picks up an apple. HBK tells him if he takes a bite of it he will kick it down his throat. Carlito tells him to calm down and introduces Chris Masters.
Masters comes to the ring without his usual hype. HBK is between the two heels. Masters cuts HBK down and throws him mic down. HBK says he should know by now to not get into situations like this and attacked Masters. He went back and forth between Carlito and Masters, but they got the upper hand and started beating him down.
When HBK was on the mat Masters said it was time for the Masterlock. Before he could get HBK into the hold Flair’s music hit and he ran to the ring to rescue HBK. Between the two men they cleared the ring of Masters and Carlito. The thing I didn’t understand was two heels against two heels in the ring. It’s not a common occurrence.

- Commercial

Out back shows Masters and Carlito yelling at Bischoff. Bisch says the Masterlock Challenge is going to be next week. Instead there will be a tag match between Flair and HBK against Carlito and Masters.

Big show comes out for a handicap match. There were already two unknowns in the ring waiting for him. I think their names were Quartermain and Madison, but I’m not quite sure.
Show takes immediate control of both men with chest slaps, throws and slams. Both men get tossed around the ring like rag dolls. Show grabbed them both and nailed a Double Headbutt. Both men ended up outside and he picked them both up by their heads, and they finally started to fight back. They tried to Suplex Show together. He reversed it into a Double Suplex. He then nailed a Double Chokeslams and pinned them both.
After the bell Snitsky jumped Show. They went back and forth for a moment until Show threw Snitsky from the ring taking out the timekeeper and a camera man. Snitsky grabbed the ring bell and climbed back in the ring. He nailed Show with the bell in the side of the ring, but it didn’t drop him. So Snitsky nailed him with it again in the back of the head laying Show out on the mat. Snitsky stood over Show and gloated.

Torrie Wilson and Candace Michelle come out to the ring wearing very tiny sparkly silver outfits. Torrie takes the mic and gloats about what they did to Ashley. Candace takes the mic and says they want to apologize to Ashley. Torrie calls Ashley out.
Out comes Ashley in a little punk outfit. Candace and Torrie start to apologize. Ashley is skeptical, but accepts. The Divas tell Ashley they pulled some strings and got her a match tonight. Candice gets in Ashley’s face and tells her to shut up. Ashley puts her hand up in Candace’s face and asks which of them her match is with. Both girls smirk and Candace tells her she has it all wrong. She’s not fighting either of them.
Victoria’s music hits and she comes down the ramp. Ashley attacks Torrie and Candace before turning around and sliding through the ropes to kick Victoria in the gut. Ashley slides out of the ring and starts punching Victoria. Victoria slams Ashley into the side of the ring and throws her in. Victoria climbs in and takes control of Ashley. Victoria gets Ashley up and nails the Widows Peak. Candace and Torrie come in and celebrate with Victoria over Ashley’s unmoving body.

Outback Lita is outback with Matt Hardy. Matt should be ready for tonight because she spent a long time warming Edge up for the match. She takes off her outter shirt and shows off a tiny shirt asking Matt how it feels to never have her again. She tells him he’s pathetic and can go to hell. Matt just stares her down until she looks rather nervous.
Matt then said he’s going to hell, but he’s not going alone, “I’m taking Edge with me.”

Edge continues hitting him with his fists and then a boot to the head. The ref wants to call the match, but Matt says “NO”.
Edge pulls Matt over to the steps and puts Matt head between the ring and the steps, but Matt got his head out before it got squished again. Matt is able to fight back and nails a DDT on Edge on the steel steps.
Matt keeps pounding Edge’s head into the steps and then gets another chair, but Lita nails Matt with the briefcase. Matt went after Lita and Edge nailed Matt from behind.
Both men keep throwing punches at each other until Matt throws Edge in the ring. Matt grabs the ladder and plows it into Edge knocking him to the mat. Matt climbs up for a Moonsault on Edge who is on the ladder. Matt is bleeding slightly from the head. Edge moved out of the way so Matt gets the full force of the ladder.
They go back outside and Edge gets a trash can and hit Matt with it. He then hit Matt over the head with it. Lita looks pissed. Matt looks out of it and throws a punch that misses Edge. Edge’s punches connect.
Punches between the two lead the three up the ramp. Edge gets thrown down and Matt looked as though he was going to Powerbomb Lita off the edge of the stage, but Edge stops him.
Both med go back and forth as if each will go over the side until Matt Side Slams Edge over the side and Matt goes with him. They land together on a pile of wires and cables. Sparks fly all over the place. The ref starts screaming for someone to shut the power off, over and over again.
The EMT’s arrive and get a collar on Matt while Coach and King leave to announce table to oversee it all. Edge is still under Matt. They are being careful moving Matt off Edge when they go to commercial.

- Commercial

Cena’s music hits and he comes down to the ring. He takes a mic and gets the crowd fired up. He complains about gas prices and his getting attacked last week by a red, white and blue Tasmanian devil. That’s the bad news. And the good news... I just save a bunch of money on my car insurance. The great news is the Champ is still here, but the plot thickens. Angle is now the number one contender. He then calls out Angle.
Angle comes out to obligatory “You Suck” chants. Angle stays on the stage. Angle can’t believe Cena called him out. That Cena doesn’t want any of Angle. He then shows the footage of what he did to Cena last week. Angle isn’t going to the ring right now. He’s not going to jeopardize his chances at the title at the next PPV. He rattles off his wrestling career for those of us who might have forgotten. Angle says he’s at the top of his game and continues to tell Cena what he’s done recently to different wrestlers. The crowd starts chanting “Asshole”.
Angle says he wants this title more than ever and will go over anyone to get it. Cena tries to cut in, but Angle cuts him off and calls Cena a lowlife thug.
Cena looked shocked and asked Angle, “You won a gold metal? I must have missed that.” Wow, maybe Angle is better, but Cena’s still calling him out.
Angle starts walking down the ramp. Cena’s ready, but Angle stops and goes back up the ramp. The crowd goes wild chanting, “You Suck.” Angle starts back down the ramp and almost climbs in the ring, kneeling on the apron, but doesn’t get in.
Cena remembers that Angle likes to hit from behind. So, Cena turns around to give Angle a shot. Cena waggles his butt at him. Angle rushes the ring and tries to lock on the Ankle Lock. Cena fights it and is able to kick Angle through the ropes. Refs come out and restrain Angle as Cena holds up the belt and smiles at him.
