More on Daniel Puder’s Release & Contact Status With WWE

While Daniel Puder’s release came by no surprise, it wasn’t considered entirely fair. He won a contract worth One Million Dollars by winning the Tough Enough 4 competition. But the catch was that the first year, worth $250,000, was the only part guaranteed. The basis was that if Puder showed as much talent as his potential, he’d stay on for the entire duration of the contract, maybe even more.

Puder was never used by Jim Cornette over in OVW for the first half-year of the contract, despite the fact that Puder continued training the whole time. As soon as Paul Heyman took over, he immediately launched Puder as a featured talent on OVW shows. Puder gained a great reputation behind the scenes. He was touted as a great worker, good listener and a fast learner.

Because WWE continues to pay off his first year in the company through December, he may not be able to work for any other company, including TNA, until January. Once source close to the situation says that top brass in WWE often joked about how they never intended to pay Puder the full million dollars. When a lot of the wrestlers spoke about a rookie receiving such a huge pay off, WWE assured them that Puder would never see more than one-fourth of the money.
