MMAWeekly, a reliable source for UFC information, has posted a detailed story regarding UFC commentator Mike Goldberg's decision to decline a huge contract with WWE to remain with UFC. Below are several hilights:
* Mike Goldberg was offered a three year deal by WWE that would have made him "a millionare". Goldberg's last show with the UFC was supposed to be October 3rd's Ultimate Fight Night, but the UFC offered Goldberg a huge contract this past weekend to keep him from jumping to WWE and he took it.
* One of the major terms that lead Goldberg to remain with UFC was the fact UFC will allow him to continue working for Fox Sports Network, while WWE would have required him to quit other job with FSN. Goldberg hosts college football and college basketball games for Fox. He also occasionally fills in as the host of the Best Damn Sports Show Period.
* UFC has 26 broadcasts scheduled for 2006, in addition to the 6 Pay-Per-View shows they every year. The 32 total broadcasts will make 2006 the biggest year in UFC history.
