The former World Wrestling Federation Champion will meet with troops at CENTCOM Headquarters and at the MacDill Air Force Base Theater introducing the movie that evening. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, the son and grandson of professional wrestlers, excelled at athletics from an early age. Although he originally had NFL dreams, the University of Miami graduate and star football player was discouraged after a stint with the Canadian Football League. Johnson decided to leave professional sports and try the family business -- wrestling. Even a rough starting patch did not deter the California native, and he eventually captured the championship belt six times in three years.
In an effort to expand his horizons, Johnson ventured into acting. His first assignment was playing his father, legendary wrestler Rocky Johnson, on the popular Fox comedy "That 70s Show." Guest appearances on "Saturday Night Live" and "Star Trek: Voyager" followed and, before long, the big screen beckoned with an appearance in 2001's "The Mummy Returns" as the Scorpion King. He reprised the role in the 2002 blockbuster hit, "The Scorpion King." Most recently, The Rock starred in the action-comedy "The Rundown," alongside Christopher Walken, Seann William Scott and Rosario Dawson.
Walking Tall also stars Johnny Knoxville and will open in theatres nationwide on April 2nd.
