Internally, there was great praise for Vince McMahon for the first few days after the Chris Benoit tragedy, but now for many guys it's a complete 180. People were particularly flabbergasted that no member of the McMahon family attended the funeral, noting that they would have been swarmed by the media but at least they'd have given the impression that they cared about the victims.
Fit Finlay was prepped for two weeks by WWE's damage control unit for his appearance on Nancy Grace. Fit was chosen because he was a member of management and a wrestler, and because they felt since he was such a tough, no-nonsense guy he could go on TV and bully the panel. One source said that, believe it or not, Vince McMahon also chose him in part because he, like McMahon, was a 'Fighting Irishman'.
One source suspected that a few of the WWE guys speaking out on the tragedy were going into business for themselves in an effort to try to get over with the office, or because they thought they were doing something positive for the company.
