AEW News: Swerve Strickland Also Expected To Be Taking Time Off

-- It was reported earlier that MJF is set to take some time off to film a movie and that the angle at the end of his All Out match where he was taken out by Daniel Garcia via a second rope piledriver will be used to explain that absence on TV. It appears that MJF isn't the only wrestler who is going to be gone for a bit as Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio noted that Swerve Strickland will also be missing in action.

-- Towards the end of their match yesterday, Hangman Page stabbed Strickland in the mouth with a hypodermic needle before nailing him with a chair shot to the head and according to Meltzer, this will be the spot that writes off Swerve from AEW programming. He added that the belief was that Strickland was going to sign his new AEW contract and then take some time off for "whatever reason" but assumed he would stay around until at least WrestleDream on October 12. Now, Meltzer speculates that that date might be when Strickland ends up returning as the event takes place in his hometown of Tacoma, WA.

-- For what it's worth, despite both wrestlers getting powerbombed onto a cinder block during their match in a spot that almost surely looked like it would cause injuries, the report noted that each wrestler told people backstage that they were fine.
