WWE NXT's on-screen authority figure Ava announced over the weekend that she decided not to renew her contract and was departing the company immediately with her last appearance already having taken place on Tuesday.
It was a bit of a surprise to many observers considering her father is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and his strong ties to WWE having a spot on the Board of Directors. On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, hosts Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez Ava's exit.
Meltzer noted that those he has spoken to with knowledge of the situation indicated that there was "no compelling reason" for her decision to leave and that it was simply a matter of she "didn't want to do it anymore."
It was later noted that Ava's real life partner, Tatyanna Dumas, was recently released by WWE, however, it is not clear whether that cut was in any way related to Ava's choice to depart WWE, however, there is some speculation that perhaps it could have had something to do with her deciding to leave.
It's interesting to note that on Tuesday's NXT, there was no mention or even a hint of Ava leaving so it would appear that her decision likely was not something WWE saw coming. What is clear is that the company was not in any way looking to get rid of her.
