According to Fightful Select, David Finlay’s contract with NJPW is set to expire soon, and he is currently exploring his options, particularly in the United States due to interest from several companies.
The report also states that Finlay will work additional dates for NJPW, including Wrestle Kingdom 20, where he is scheduled to compete in a 10-man tag team match alongside his Bullet Club War Dogs teammates at the January 4 event. It was mentioned that several NJPW talents have worked without contracts for months this year and were eventually re-signed to one-year deals.
Finlay has been with NJPW since 2015 and has wrestled over 800 matches for the company. He is a two-time IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion, a one-time IWGP Tag Team Champion, a one-time NEVER Openweight Champion, and a one-time NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champion. In addition, he won the New Japan Cup in 2025 and the World Tag League in 2019 alongside Juice Robinson.
David Finlay’s father, Fit Finlay, has strong ties to WWE, having performed for the company from 2001 to 2011 and serving as a trainer and assistant coach at the Performance Center since 2020. Meanwhile, his brother, Brogan Finlay, is currently signed to WWE and performs for the NXT brand under the ring name Uriah Connors as a member of Chase U.
