WWE Intercontinental Champion and AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio has not competed in a match since sustaining a shoulder injury at Guerra de Titanes last December. Although he has been removed from WWE programming, he continued to make appearances via video segments on Lucha Libre AAA to promote upcoming matches. He also returned to WWE television last week on RAW to celebrate Liv Morgan’s victory in the Royal Rumble.
According to Fightful Select, Mysterio's time away from the ring may soon come to an end, as WWE is optimistic about his return.
Recently, Mysterio attended a Lucha Libre AAA show, where he was confronted by El Hijo del Vikingo, the former AAA Mega Champion and the number one contender for his title. Vikingo is scheduled to challenge Mysterio for the AAA Mega Title in the main event of Rey de Reyes 2026 on March 14.
While Mysterio’s next defense of the Mega Championship is confirmed, there has been no information about when or against whom he will defend the Intercontinental Championship next. He regained the title from John Cena at Survivor Series: WarGames last November but has yet to defend it.
