Backstage News On Jeff Jarrett’s Current Role In AEW

Pro wrestling legend Jeff Jarrett joined AEW in November 2022 and was announced as the company's Director of Business Development by AEW President and CEO Tony Khan. However, it seems that this role has changed. In the latest edition of Fightful Select Answers, Sean Ross Sapp addressed a fan's question about Jarrett's current role within the company.

According to Sapp, Jarrett was “moved out of his office role” over a year ago and is now primarily working as a signed talent. He noted that this is part of AEW's trend of shifting focus from veteran wrestlers to showcasing younger talent on its television programming. Interestingly, in November 2025, it was reported that Jarrett is no longer AEW’s Manager of Live Events.

This news comes after Jarrett announced in January of last year that he had signed what he claimed would be his last wrestling contract with AEW. He set his sights on the AEW World Championship and participated in a Casino Gauntlet Match to earn a shot at the title, but he was unsuccessful in his pursuits. Jarrett then became involved in a storyline with MJF, but it was not well-received by fans, and he has not competed on television since.
