WWE will host its next Saturday Night's Main Event special tonight, January 24th, at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the company is experiencing lower-than-expected demand for the show, with only 8,871 tickets sold so far—a figure considered low for a city like Montreal.
Meltzer noted that several factors have contributed to the lackluster ticket sales. One issue is scheduling; Montreal fans are being asked to support back-to-back WWE events, which include last night's SmackDown and tonight's Saturday Night's Main Event. This situation can stretch fans' budgets, even in a city with a strong wrestling following.
Another factor mentioned by Meltzer is pricing. The lowest ticket prices at the time were around $53, which is closer to AEW pricing than to WWE’s usual premium live event expectations. Furthermore, the card for the show has not generated the usual excitement associated with Saturday Night’s Main Event. With the show no longer airing nationally on NBC, television exposure is likely diminished as well.
For context, a recent WWE RAW event in the same venue attracted over 11,500 fans, underscoring the contrast between weekly television shows and this renewed special event. The Bell Centre has a seating capacity of more than 21,000, leaving a significant number of seats still available.
