WWE legend John Cena has been announced as the host of the upcoming two-night WrestleMania 42 event. However, that wasn't a long-term plan that was set in stone for a while and a new report suggests that it came together over the last couple of months.
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reports that when Cena wrestled his retirement match back in December, the idea of him hosting WrestleMania 42 was not even a consideration. The plan to have him incorporated into WrestleMania as the host was first brought up in February and it was at the time that Cena presumably immediately agreed. Cena's new agreement with WWE includes various roles and appearances that does not include any in-ring wrestling.
As noted befoe, WWE reportedly brought Cena into the mix solely to help move tickets for what has been a much softer-than-usual demand for seats than the company anticipated.
