As previously reported, TKO President Mark Shapiro commented on WWE's plans to "move past" Vince McMahon-created Premium Live Events (PLEs) while discussing WrestlePalooza last week.
Given that McMahon was the mastermind behind many of WWE’s major PLE names, including WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series, fans began to wonder if WWE would be discontinuing these names.
According to Fightful Select, WWE executives believe that Shapiro's comments pertain primarily to other monthly events. A source within the company informed the outlet that Saudi Arabia isn't paying for WrestlePalooza but is investing in WrestleMania. The value of the WrestleMania brand is why they are doing so.
Furthermore, the same source highlighted that WWE has already committed to hosting events under the WrestleMania and SummerSlam banners in Indianapolis and New Orleans beyond what has already been announced. WWE has expressed its desire for WrestlePalooza to reach the same status as WrestleMania or SummerSlam, but only time will tell whether this aspiration will be realized.
